Chapter 30 Family Conversation
"On Friday, they faced the Gallatin High School football team at Clevenshot Stadium. Austin came on the field in the third quarter and advanced 70 yards in six plays, just like Tomlinson of the Chargers (the best running back in the NFL in 07). He helped Hendersonville defeat its arch-rival. Of course, the team had to invite him to the celebration tonight. As you can see, he only had one drink, just a small one."

Ryan explained all this in the Taylors' elegantly decorated living room, holding a cup of Ceylon tea brewed by Taylor's mother.

Taylor's parents, who were sitting on the love seat next to them, looked at each other but didn't notice anything wrong.

"Then why didn't you answer the phone just now?" Taylor's mother looked scared.

"Maybe I forgot to turn on the notification sound." Ryan pretended to think about it, but in fact it was because the nightclub was too noisy.

"Where are you meeting?" Taylor's mother asked again.

"Night...where else can I go at night? I found a restaurant nearby." Ryan quickly changed his words.

Taylor's mother nodded, and Ryan managed to get away with it.

Taylor's father suddenly spoke up: "You said they won the game, so they should celebrate. Weren't you at the game?"

Ryan shook his head.

"What position do you play?"

"Tight end."

"Then where were you at that time?" Taylor's father asked immediately, as if he had caught the loophole in Ryan's words.

"He's in school, reviewing his lessons. He's a transfer student, right?" Taylor immediately took the initiative to speak. She was sitting opposite Ryan.

"Yes, that's right. You know, it's difficult to get GPA at this time." Ryan nodded repeatedly.

Ryan and Taylor worked together to try to get the whole thing over with.

But Taylor's father was not someone who could be easily fooled. He suddenly turned to his daughter and asked, "Do you know him?"

"I don't know him." Taylor shook his head quickly.

"do not know?"

"Um... I know her a little bit, through Abigail." Taylor quickly changed the subject and smiled awkwardly, his nervousness almost written on his face.

How could the middle-aged man who watched Taylor grow up not notice Taylor's nervousness? He seemed to have sensed something.

"Daughter, your mother and I are here. You have to tell the truth now. What is his relationship with you?"

"There's no connection. To be precise, there's a little connection. He's Terry's nephew..." Taylor smiled.

"It really doesn't matter?"

Taylor kept shaking his head.

"Then why did you slap him?" Taylor's father raised his voice.

"I...I wasn't careful." Taylor muttered.

"Hurry up and apologize to them."

I still have to apologize to him?! Taylor was unwilling to do so.

"Your father is right. He sent your brother back with good intentions. You should thank him." Taylor's mother also echoed.

Under the coercive orders of his parents, Taylor finally apologized to Ryan reluctantly.

Taylor's father nodded and then started chatting with Ryan.

The information asked this time was particularly detailed, including Ryan's relationship with Trae, his academic performance, where he lived before, his future plans, etc. Ryan neither said that he used to be a model nor that he was currently working in a nightclub. His words created a classic image of "a football player whose family suffered misfortune and was left unattended, who came to Nashville to return to school, worked hard, and strived to be admitted to a prestigious school." He is the kind of child that middle-class American parents love most.

Taylor sneered and secretly cursed Ryan for being shameless.

Then Taylor's mother even took the initiative to ask Ryan to stay at home that night.

"He has his own car, so don't make things more complicated." Taylor quickly stood up and took Ryan away.
"Who told you to get close to him? What do you want to do? If you do this again, I will... I will..." Taylor suddenly couldn't think of any threatening words. Ryan used to need her help, but the situation is completely different now.

"Help me with the decoration part of Myspace. It would be best if we were the same operating company as you." Ryan made his request directly without any further ado.

Taylor is so busy at work, there must be someone behind the scenes who is responsible for running all of this.

"Do you want me to assign you a public relations manager?" Taylor sneered.

"That's better."

"Tsk." Taylor waved his hand.

"Then restart the cooperation with Terry." Ryan made a second request. This matter was caused by him, so he had to give Terry an explanation.

"Beg me!" Taylor folded his arms across his chest and blurted out.

"What?" Ryan didn't react for a moment.

Taylor sneered: "I mean, you have to swear that you will never harass me again, including my family and Abigail."

"Harassment? Without me, your brother would still be lying in the club," Ryan reminded her.

"Then break up with Abigail!" Taylor said in an imperative tone.

"Ok, I will tell her tomorrow that I have to break up with you due to pressure from your friends because your friends don't like me."

"So what? I'm doing this for her own good." Taylor felt a little guilty.

"Don't even think about it. She is gentler, more considerate, and more caring than you are. She is also ten times more enthusiastic than you in that aspect. She and I get along very well." Ryan smiled.

"Bullshit!" Taylor finally couldn't help it and cursed.

·
Just as Ryan and Taylor were arguing, a middle-aged man who had not yet gone to bed stood by the window in the room, opened the gap in the blinds with one hand, and secretly observed everything.

"What's going on? Scott, are you kissing in the car?" Taylor's mother tiptoed over. She had just come out of her youngest son's room.

"Not really, but they seemed to be having a lively conversation," Taylor's father reported.

Compared to Ryan's biological mother who didn't call for half a year, Taylor's parents care about their daughter to a meticulous level. They are more responsible than most American parents, of course, including the emotional part. They both noticed that there was something unusual between their daughter and this boy, but they didn't point it out.

"This is not a good sign. She never hid her new boyfriend from us." Taylor's mother was worried.

"My daughter has grown up, it's normal for her to have her own ideas, and the two of them didn't seem to have any intimate behavior. Maybe they just established a relationship. As for the slap at the beginning, it was because my daughter was too anxious. Didn't she see that the boy's expression was confused? This kind of reaction is not normal." Taylor's father analyzed the scene based on the footage and recalled the scene he saw when he just went out, and finally came up with a reasonable explanation in his mind.

"What's this kid's name?"

"Ryan."

"His height matches Taylor's, he's very motivated, polite, and he took the initiative to send Austin back." Taylor's mother is quite satisfied with Ryan.

"His family background isn't very good, maybe we can sponsor him to go to college?" Taylor's father suddenly had an idea.

"You're crazy." Taylor's mother scolded with a smile.

·
"Let's change the conditions. For example... I can make your brother a real tight end!" Ryan pretended to say.

"You can't get close to him!" Taylor still holds this view.

Ryan shrugged: "His legs are on his own body. Many things will not go the way you imagine."

Taylor sighed, but couldn't refute it.

After watching Ryan's car drive away, Taylor turned around and went home.

"Is Abigail as pretty as me? Is she more talented than me? I won't be fooled by you." Taylor couldn't help but mutter to himself as he thought of Ryan's previous remarks.
