Chapter 21: Being put in solitary confinement on the first night of school
Chapter 21: First Night of School
As the culprit of the "dark magic accident", Ivy was interrupted from his complacent process by Professor Snape who rushed over after sending dozens of Slytherin senior students into an unpeaceful sleep.
"Ivy Doom!" Ivy thought she could almost hear the sound of Professor Snape's teeth grinding together. "What have you done?"
"Hmm..." Ivy decided to tell the truth, "Friendly magic exchange? Don't worry, I just let them all fall asleep. No one will be fatally injured in this magic exchange."
After hearing the word "fatal injury", Professor Snape quickly squatted down to check on the students. After confirming that they were indeed not in danger of life, Snape stood up and his expression returned to his usual calm state.
"I didn't know you were capable of this, Mr. Doom?" Professor Snape's voice was almost whispered, and then he began to sentence Ivy to punishment. "Because you didn't know the severity of the attack during...'magic communication', you, Ivy Doom, will be punished with detention for the entire semester."
The kind-hearted Professor Snape was reluctant to deduct Slytherin's house points, but only announced that Ivy would be punished.
"That sounds good. At least Slytherin didn't get deducted points." Ivy nodded calmly, accepting Professor Snape's verdict.
"Now, can I go back to the dormitory?" Seeing that Snape did not take the next step, Ivy raised his eyebrows and asked, "I must say that today is a very fulfilling day. I am very tired. Especially, after experiencing such a strong 'magic exchange'."
"Hmph! As your first task for detention, move these students to the school hospital to receive treatment from Madam Pomfrey. Only then can you return to your damn bed." Snape rejected Ivy's proposal and assigned him the first task. "Of course, I will supervise you."
"Wingardium, Leviosa." Ivy stretched out her wand and used a large-scale levitation spell to make all the fallen Slytherin students fly up, and then she conjured a long rope to string them all together.
"Let's go, Professor?" Ivy asked Professor Snape politely, holding a human balloon made up of dozens of Slytherin students.
The latter did not answer, but just threw away the dark robe and started walking out of the common room. Before leaving, Snape noticed the first-year student who was still standing there in a daze.
"Is your brain screwed up too? Get back in bed! And I better not let any professors hear that you're late for class."
Upon hearing what their dean said, the first-year students immediately scattered like birds and beasts.
----
"Fred! Look! There are so many Slytherin students following Snape!" George pointed at the densely packed names on the Marauder's Map.
"That's..." Fred also shifted his gaze over, trying to identify the location among the pile of letters, "Slytherin's dungeon?"
"What are they doing? Why are so many people going out together?" George began to wonder what was going on.
"I dare say... Snape must be dissatisfied with not being able to get the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts for many years, and is taking the students to the principal's office to protest!" Fred began to make groundless guesses.
"No! It's definitely worse than that! Maybe Snape wants to be the headmaster!" George was even more eager for chaos in the world. "This is a war! Slytherin's war against Gryffindor!" "Why against Gryffindor?" Fred didn't react.
"Because Dumbledore is a Gryffindor!" George folded up the Marauder's Map and began to call his brothers. "No matter what, we have to go over and see what happened."
"Of course I need to say that. But we still have to be careful of Filch and his cat. I just saw them on the second floor on the map." Fred offered his suggestion. "Perhaps we can go around the hospital ward. It's just the beginning of the school term, so there shouldn't be any unlucky people staying there, so Madam Pomfrey won't be on guard."
"Okay! Let's do it! If only we had an invisibility cloak, we wouldn't have to plan the route like this." George packed all the odds and ends on his body. Originally, they were planning to use a few stinky eggs as a greeting gift for Filch in the new school year, but now they had to figure out the "conspiracy of Slytherin and Snape", so not exposing themselves was the best option.
"Don't bother buying it. We can't afford it. And that thing will lose its effect within ten years. It's not as useful as the Disillusionment Charm." Fred poked his head around the corner cautiously, and only responded to his brother after confirming that there was no danger. "We must learn that spell this year!"
----
Because Ivy was holding so many human balloons, some students' limbs often got entangled with the decorations at the corners of the castle, either rubbing off the portraits on the wall or getting caught on the spears of armor.
So in order not to wake up the entire castle, Snape and Ivy had to look back every few steps, and the speed of advancement was really not fast. Therefore, when they stepped out of the last step of the dungeon, Fred and George had been waiting for a while.
"Oh my God...did those students faint? Did Slytherin have a civil war?" Hiding opposite the dungeon exit, Fred and George saw Snape's secret clearly.
But then they realized that something was wrong.
"We must leave here quickly. Snape must be taking them to the school hospital! If we hide here any longer, we will definitely be discovered!" Because the two of them were going to the Slytherin dungeon through the school hospital, their hiding place was blocking Snape and Ivy's route.
Fortunately, the Weasley twins were as agile as a pair of bludgers, so when Snape turned back to urge Ivy, the two took the opportunity to leave their hiding place.
"How did those unlucky guys faint? Spending the first night of school in the school hospital? It seems that we have never done anything like this before." The two of them successfully moved to the corridor on the second floor of the main teaching area by familiarizing themselves with the terrain, and then began to discuss what happened in the Slytherin common room.
But before George could answer the question, Mrs. Norris's meow came from the end of the corridor.
"I just know that if we don't leave, we might end up in detention on the first night of school!"
So the pair of Bludgers hurriedly flew back to their beds.
