Chapter 22 Astronomy Lesson

Chapter 22 Astronomy Lesson

The first-year Slytherin students will come to the Astronomy Tower on Tuesday night to take an astronomy course taught by a black woman named Aurora Sinistra from the Ouagadou School of Magic in Africa.

It is said that Ugadu is a place that is very good at astronomy. Maybe this is why Dumbledore hired a black professor?
Since the astronomy class was to be held at midnight that day, there was no time left for Ivy to be in detention after class, so he could stay in his bed for the first time in a long time instead of facing the joyless face of Professor Snape.

Even if the detention on the first day of school was included, Ivy was only in detention for two days, but being forced to deal with potion materials all the time was not a fun thing. After all, he couldn't use "Avada Biting the Big Melon" to threaten the potion materials to deal with themselves, so he had to do it himself.

Therefore, it was the best thing for Ivy to stay away from Snape's gloomy Potions classroom as much as possible.

The astronomy course is very simple. After the necessary explanations, students observe the sky using telescopes that they bring with them.

If the orbits of other planets in the solar system are correct, then observe the planets. If you are unlucky, then observe other stars in the night sky instead.

Although it was still September, the temperature in the Scottish Highlands was already very low at midnight. The little wizards who had not been able to put on winter clothes were shivering with cold and secretly vowed to wear more clothes in the next astronomy class.

Relying on the constant temperature magic on the robes of Slytherin's relics, Ivy stood out among the chattering little wizards, not to mention that he could always find the star to be observed in the night sky in the first place. So Professor Sinistra was happy to add five points to Slytherin.

"You deserve it." Professor Sinistra patted Ivy's shoulder with his dark hand, then turned to check other people's telescopes.

"how did you do it?"

Ivy turned around and saw a pair of bright green eyes staring at him seriously. It was Cassandra, the overly beautiful first-year Slytherin student. Ivy was sure that this girl did not exist in the original Harry Potter book, otherwise no one would have been able to resist describing her appearance in detail.

But this is normal, after all, ancient magic does not exist in the original work.

"Oh, it's easy," Ivy whispered. "Just put the telescope in the right position and focus it so that the stars are in the right place. If you don't mind, I can teach you step by step."

"You know I'm not talking about astronomy." Cassandra didn't seem satisfied with Ivy's astronomy tips, and continued to ask questions.

"But we are in astronomy class now!" Ivy's eyes widened, as if he didn't expect that the classmate in front of him would not complete his classwork properly, but discuss things unrelated to the class with him, a good student with both good character and good academic performance.

Cassandra's fair face flushed a little. She took a deep breath, trying not to show her anger so obviously: "Let's talk frankly. I must say that your magic is a little stronger than I thought..."

"Just a little?" Ivy knew she didn't want to admit defeat, but still asked maliciously.

The bright emerald eyes stared at Ivy for a long time before Cassandra continued, "...it's stronger than I thought. I have to know why."

"Oh - I understand, you are asking me for advice?" Ivy pretended to be enlightened. In fact, he had already discovered that this girl was secretly observing him, but he didn't expect Cassandra to confront Ivy so quickly. Ivy thought she would continue to follow him until she thought she had mastered some of Ivy's secrets.

"You can think so." Cassandra's words were so light and fast that Ivy almost didn't hear them clearly. "So... this is how you, a noble Slytherin, would ask for help?" Ivy continued to tease her.

"Please! Tell me how you did it." When Cassandra said this, Ivy was sure she heard the sound of her teeth grinding against each other.

"Because I'm a genius!" Ivy said smugly, "and that's no big deal for geniuses!"

Cassandra turned and walked away without saying another word to Ivy.

----

In addition to attending classes and completing homework on time like a real good student, and then going to the Potions classroom at a fixed time every day to complete his detention, Ivy has a lot of other things to do.

For example, exploring how different parts of the castle are from more than a hundred years ago.

From the few rooms he knew that were never open to the public, apart from a little more dust, there was basically no big difference. It seemed that although a lot of things had changed in the past hundred years, there were still many things that had not changed.

At least not in Slytherin's study or the Chamber of Secrets built by the Gaunt family.

As for the Room of Requirement, changes there were inevitable. At least Ivy knew very well that Voldemort must have entered it during his school years, and even hid the Ravenclaw Diadem, which was a Horcrux, in it when he returned to Hogwarts to apply for a job.

But because of time and distance, Ivy has not yet gone there. Especially when there is always a little tail behind him from time to time.

Yes, Cassandra did not seem to give up, but chose to secretly investigate Ivy's secrets.

Because of the "magical exchange" in the Slytherin common room on the first day of school, Ivy thought that Dumbledore and Snape would increase their surveillance of him, so he could do something else to divert their attention.

Some people may wonder, how can Ivy get the energy to do other irrelevant things while completing his studies at Hogwarts and dealing with Snape's confinement?
This brings us to the first grade students’ timetable.

As freshmen who have just joined the Hogwarts family, first-year students actually have very few courses.

There are only three Herbology classes, two Transfiguration classes and Charms classes, one History of Magic, one Defense Against the Dark Arts and one Astronomy class per week, as well as two consecutive Potions classes (on Friday mornings, Slytherin and Gryffindor take them together). The rest is flying class as a physical education class. Flying class is also held twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Slytherin also takes it with Gryffindor, but it has not started in the first week of school. The first flying class will not be until next Thursday.

By this calculation, first-year students only need to take 14 hours of classes per week, but if the five days of the week are counted, there will be a total of 35 hours of classes!

This means that first graders have plenty of time to explore the castle, figure out the route to class, and then complete their homework. They are so happy!
Therefore, even if he had to deal with confinement at night, Ivy still had a lot of time to do other things, and what he had to do recently was to continue studying the Grimoire of Destruction.
