Chapter 35 The fish is hooked
The news that the Malfoys came to Hogwarts to watch the Quidditch match spread like a whirlwind, quickly spreading throughout Hogwarts through Draco's mouth.
Lucius Malfoy, the pure-blood wizard known for his wealth and power, spared no expense in equipping each member of the Slytherin team with the latest Nimbus 2001 broomsticks.
Such luxurious equipment allowed Slytherin to have an unstoppable presence in this year's College Cup.
The Slytherin players were full of energy and enthusiasm, and they all expressed their desire to beat up the Gryffindor players in the game to show Mr. Malfoy, their generous sponsor, that his investment was definitely worth it.
However, this news is undoubtedly a disaster for teams from other colleges.
Especially the Gryffindor team, they laughed at Draco, thinking that the reason he became the Slytherin team's seeker was entirely because he had a rich father, and his actual level was pitiful.
Unlike Harry, who became Gryffindor's Seeker in his first year with his talent and strength.
Draco was extremely angry at these taunts, and his face turned pale with a hint of red because of anger.
He swore that he must show his strength in front of his father and mother and shut up those who laughed at him.
And he felt that he was a little better than Harry because he knew that his parents would be there to watch the game in person, but Harry, the orphan, could not enjoy such treatment.
Where is Harry?
How could an orphan like Harry compare with him? He must be hiding in his bed wiping his tears right now.
Harry was indeed very sad, especially when the Malfoys came to Hogwarts on the day of the match.
The sight of Draco being held in his mother's arms pierced Harry's heart deeply.
Harry admitted that he was jealous and how much he wished his parents could come to watch his game and give him a warm hug.
Hermione was keenly aware of Harry's depressed mood. She patted Harry's shoulder gently and encouraged him: "Beat him on the court, Harry, and make him embarrassed in front of his parents."
These words were like a warm current, rekindling Harry's fighting spirit.
Before the match, Dumbledore invited Lucius to talk.
Of course Lucius refused. He came to watch his son's game, so how could he leave at this time?
Dumbledore whispered in his ear: "Diary."
Then he turned and left the court. Lucius shuddered as if struck by lightning.
"What's wrong, dear?" Narcissa asked concernedly, worry on her beautiful face.
"Dumbledore wants to see me about something."
Lucius tried to keep his voice calm, but his slightly trembling lips still let his wife see his nervousness.
"Why does it have to happen at this time?" Narcissa frowned in dissatisfaction.
Lucius pretended to be nonchalant and said, "Who knows what that crazy old man is thinking."
He forced a smile on his face.
Narcissa felt that things were not as easy as Lucius said, but she believed her husband: "Go quickly and come back soon."
"Of course, I don't want to miss Draco's performance."
He had to follow Dumbledore away, leaving behind his wife Narcissa, who was full of worry.
The two of them walked in silence, and the air was filled with tension.
In the principal's office, Lucius was surprised to find Professor Weiss there.
An ominous premonition welled up in his heart. He pretended that he had never seen Weiss before: "Dumbledore, who is this?"
"Mr. Malfoy is a man of few memories. We met at Flourish and Blotts." Weiss said without beating around the bush, pointing to the diary on the table. "The diary I found at Flourish and Blotts seems to be yours, but I don't have your contact information, so I'll have to ask the headmaster to contact you."
Lucius first glanced at the diary quickly, then quickly averted his gaze and said in a panic, "I think you've got the wrong person. Such a shabby diary can't be mine."
"Looks like I was wrong." Weiss pointed with his index finger, and the diary began to burn.
Red flames rose up instantly.
[Silent casting plus wandless casting! ]
Lucius was shocked by Weiss's magical attainments.
He had only seen such superb magical skills in Dumbledore and Voldemort. Who on earth was this Professor Irving? Despite his inner turmoil, Lucius moved with extraordinary speed.
He rushed to the desk, knocked the burning diary to the ground, and quickly extinguished the flames with a few kicks.
He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the diary was still intact.
"Why are you so nervous, Mr. Malfoy? It's just an ordinary diary, just burn it." There was a subtle hint of sarcasm in Weiss's voice.
Lucius quickly changed his story: "I remember now, I seem to have lost a diary..."
His anxious eyes seemed to indicate that he was eager to leave here with the diary as soon as possible.
[It’s fine if I don’t cause chaos in Hogwarts, but at least I won’t be punished for retrieving the diary] He thought to himself.
However, Weiss stood in front of him.
"Professor Erwin?" Lucius asked tentatively.
"Since this notebook belongs to Mr. Malfoy, I'm sorry."
Weiss pointed his wand at Lucius.
"What are you doing? I'm the school director!!" Lucius roared, but the panic in his eyes did not escape Wes's eyes.
"It seems that Mr. Malfoy knows that this diary is not a serious thing."
"I don't know what you're talking about. It's just a diary that I accidentally lost."
Lucius pretended to be calm, but his slightly trembling voice still revealed his nervousness.
"So he didn't tell you that this is a Horcrux." Weiss didn't intend to beat around the bush any more, he told the truth directly.
"Horcrux???" Lucius's hand loosened and the diary fell to the ground.
A "pop" sound brought Lucius back to reality from his shock.
He bent down to pick it up, but Weiss stepped on the diary.
"Mr. Malfoy, could you explain why your diary is a Horcrux? Does that mean Mr. Malfoy has a life on his hands?"
Weiss's voice was like a sword, piercing Lucius' heart.
Lucius's hand retracted as if he had been electrocuted, and he was speechless for a moment.
"Mr. Malfoy, could you please answer my question?"
Weiss pressed forward step by step, full of oppression.
Lucius couldn't find a suitable excuse to fool Wes for a moment.
Weiss picked up the diary and said, "Voldemort gave you the Horcrux for safekeeping without telling you the truth. It seems he doesn't trust you."
Lucius wanted to cover Weiss's mouth, and his face turned pale at this moment.
"What would happen if your master knew you lost his Horcrux?" Weiss continued to press.
Lucius was so frightened that his whole body went limp and he almost collapsed to the ground.
"Oh, you didn't lose it. You turned over a new leaf and gave it to Headmaster Dumbledore." Weiss pressed on.
Dumbledore echoed, "Yes, it was today that Mr. Malfoy handed the Horcrux to me and expressed regret for what he had done before."
"No!" Lucius shouted desperately, "You can't do this."
"Of course we can. After all, the Horcrux is in our hands. Do you think Voldemort will believe you?" Weiss's tone was obviously threatening, and every word was like a sharp blade.
Lucius seemed to have lost his soul, sitting there in a daze.
He knew in his heart that once this news reached Voldemort's ears, given his suspicious and moody character, his end would be very tragic.
