Chapter 36 Meeting in the Principal's Office
Chapter 36 Meeting in the Principal's Office
Weiss's voice cut through the silence, his words like the winter wind, cold and sharp:
"Mr. Malfoy, we all know your identity."
His movements were slow and methodical, and with a flick of his wand he peeled back the long sleeve from Lucius's left arm.
As the long sleeves slid down, the Dark Mark that once terrified countless people was exposed to the air.
Lucius almost instinctively covered it with his palm, a mixture of emotions - anger, fear, and a hint of embarrassment at having his secret revealed. He stared at Weiss intently, as if he wanted to burn him through with his gaze.
"You're scared, Mr. Death Eater." Weiss's voice was calm but full of oppression. "What are you afraid of?"
He raised his eyebrows slightly: "Your master is about to make a comeback, why are you afraid?"
There was a hint of amusement in his words, as if he was enjoying this psychological game.
"It must be tough being around that moody guy, living in fear every day, afraid that you'd be the next to die."
Weiss's words were like sharp arrows, piercing Lucius's heart and making his heart tighten suddenly.
Lucius stared at Weiss with wide eyes, wondering how he could guess his thoughts so accurately.
"It's easy to guess, actually." Weiss picked up the diary and gently stroked its cover, his gentle gesture forming a stark contrast to his words. "This Horcrux was created by Voldemort when he was 16. Given his personality and ambition, he must have created more than one."
Weiss looked directly into Lucius' eyes, radiating an unquestionable confidence.
"Mr. Malfoy, do you know how to make a Horcrux?"
Lucius shook his head like a rattle, like a cornered animal.
"Kill a person, split his soul, and attach the fragments of the soul to any object." Weiss's voice was flat, as if he was talking about a trivial matter.
"Sounds simple, right?" He raised the corners of his mouth slightly, revealing a sarcastic smile.
Lucius didn't dare to speak, he was very scared at the moment.
"There are countless dark wizards in history who know how to make Horcruxes, but do you know why so few people do it?"
Weiss asked this pointed question with sharp eyes.
Lucius didn't dare to say anything and could only continue shaking his head.
Dumbledore showed an interested look. He wanted to hear what Weiss thought about Horcruxes.
"Have you ever heard of schizophrenia?" Without waiting for the two to answer, Weiss continued:
"Simply put, it's a person with a mental problem. His mind has split into different personalities, some of them are old, some are children..."
After Wes's explanation, although the two didn't quite understand it, they roughly knew that this situation was just a madman.
"Schizophrenia has such serious consequences, so what about the soul?" Weiss's voice suddenly rose an octave. "Doesn't splitting one's soul come at a price?"
As he spoke, every word seemed to exert pressure: "Did Voldemort become increasingly irritable, increasingly unable to control his emotions, and increasingly extreme in his later years?"
Although Weiss looked like he was asking Lucius a question, his words carried an irrefutable authority.
Lucius nodded. It was just as Weiss had said. Voldemort had transformed from a wise and intelligent leader into a suspicious, moody tyrant.
Around him, every day was filled with anxiety and fear, and everyone chose their words carefully, fearing that a careless word would lead to a fatal disaster.
"Voldemort's soul has been split too many times." Weiss curled his lips in disdain. "What a foolish approach! Only a complete soul can go further on the path of magic. Voldemort's path is broken. He will never make any further progress in this lifetime."
Dumbledore nodded in agreement. "Even the most brutal dark wizard wouldn't split his soul so easily."
I think Voldemort was too young at the time, not yet exposed to deeper magical knowledge. As soon as he discovered how to make a Horcrux, he couldn't wait to create this diary, and ended up going down this wrong path." Weiss' voice was filled with regret.
"Young wizards always go astray for various reasons." Dumbledore also revealed a hint of regret: "If I had not been prejudiced at the time and guided him well, perhaps he would have become an outstanding master of Defense Against the Dark Arts, and it would not be impossible for him to become the new headmaster."
"Come on, he was able to kill someone without being caught at the age of 16. This kind of mentality cannot be changed by education."
Weiss said disapprovingly.
"..." Weiss and Dumbledore talked and criticized Voldemort without any scruples. Lucius felt very uncomfortable listening to them and wished he was deaf.
"Oh, sorry." Wes seemed to have just noticed Lucius's discomfort. "You don't mind us talking about your master like this, do you?" Wes looked at Lucius jokingly.
What could Lucius say?
He wanted to take advantage of the situation, but he only dared to think so in his heart.
I can only respond with a wry smile.
"In general, because of the split soul, Voldemort has now become a madman, and a cruel madman at that. Mr. Malfoy, you gave this madman's most important Horcrux to his mortal enemy. How do you think he will deal with you?"
Weiss continued to threaten Lucius in a tough tone.
Lucius was about to cry, but he still fought back stubbornly: "I believe he will listen to my explanation..."
The more he spoke, the lower his voice became, and it was obvious that he didn't even believe what he said.
"Okay, now you have three options." Wes held up three fingers.
"First, admit that you are the owner of this diary. The consequence is, of course, imprisonment in Azkaban. Perhaps I'll rescue you from Azkaban when your master returns. I hope you haven't gone mad by then."
Weiss's expression was grim.
Lucius shook his head quickly when he thought of the evil creature Dementors. In less than a month, he would be tortured to insanity by Dementors.
"Secondly, if you don't admit that the diary is yours, we can't do anything to you with the power of the Malfoy family. However, we will spread the rumor that you have lost something important to Voldemort."
Lucius still shook his head.
"Then there is only one option left, and that is to abandon darkness and join the light."
As soon as Weiss finished speaking, Lucius suddenly stood up from the ground and retorted angrily: "You are asking me to die!!"
Weiss seemed to be giving Lucius a choice, but in fact he was forcing Lucius to betray Voldemort.
"If he finds out, he won't let me and my family go!"
Lucius had seen what Voldemort did to those who betrayed him, and he didn't want to repeat the same mistake.
"It's okay if he doesn't know."
"You want me to be an undercover agent?" Lucius stepped back repeatedly. "Impossible, don't even think about it!" He was very emotional and clenched his fists.
"Calm down, Mr. Malfoy." Weiss whispered soothingly, "Only by staying calm can you make the right choice."
Dumbledore also tried to ease the tension by bringing Lucius a cup of tea, but in Lucius's eyes, the tea was more terrifying than poison.
After some inner struggle, Lucius finally took the teacup and drank it all in one gulp, as if he had prepared for the worst.
