Chapter 24 War May Come
A notice was posted in the common room announcing flying lessons for first-year students.

The class will start next Thursday afternoon, but everyone has already started a heated discussion this weekend.

Seamus said he spent his entire childhood on a broomstick, Ron said he nearly hit a hang jet on Charlie's broken broomstick, and Malfoy said he dodged a Muggle helicopter.
Moon suspected that they were all bragging. When he lived in the bridge hole, he had seen the big iron bird called an airplane.

This iron bird is much faster than a four-wheeled car. How could the little wizard possibly dodge it?

However, Moon's doubts did not affect everyone's enthusiasm. After all, being able to fly into the sky is everyone's dream.

The first weekend after school started arrived, but the expected situation of sleeping in the morning did not happen.

Everyone got up much earlier than usual that day. Even when Moon was getting ready to get up and read, Ron and Harry were already unable to sleep.

"So you get up so early every day?"

Harry and Moon's beds were next to each other. Seeing Moon already dressed, picked up her textbook and walked out, Harry opened his eyes wide.

Moon just nodded. He noticed that the injured Neville was sleeping soundly and quietly made a gesture to Harry to keep quiet.

Moon has a lot to do today. In addition to learning "Magic Wand Making and Maintenance", he also has to take care of the saplings and do his astronomy homework of "Moon Map Drawing".

When the sun is shining during the day, Moon will move the saplings outside to bask in the sun.

After a whole day of observation, Moon found that the saplings showed no signs of withering, which greatly boosted his confidence.

The weather has been very good these past two nights, with not a single cloud in sight. The moon can be clearly seen from the astronomical tower, so Moon has already completed most of his moon map assignment and will be finished tonight.

The other people in the dormitory wanted to learn from this pre-produced homework, so they also became Moon's study supervisors.

After lending the moon map homework to his roommates early on Sunday morning, Moon reviewed the knowledge of wand body materials. He had memorized the entire book and now all he had to do was put it into practice.

When night fell, Moon chose to go to bed early. Tonight was the day he would return to Xilin.

Sleeping in the wooden house at York Farm was not as comfortable as sleeping in the dormitory at Hogwarts.

This cabin was in the middle of a hazelnut forest and was very humid. Even though his bedding was made of new wool blankets sewn by Aunt Daisy herself, they could not withstand the humidity here.

But there are also advantages here, that is, the air is fresh, and there is no snoring or grinding of teeth.

Uncle Neil had already brought people here before dawn in the morning. This period of time was exactly when hazelnuts were ripe, so the first thing Moon did when he came back was to join the autumn harvest.

"Little Moon, don't run so fast. Take a break before you do it."

Uncle Hawke sat under a hazelnut tree, took a sip of water from a sheepskin bag, and shouted to Moon who was running over.

"I'm not tired. I can pick some more."

"What a down-to-earth kid."

All the workers who came to work were veterans and their families recruited by Neil. After returning from the battlefield, they received very little federal subsidies and had to work to support their families.

And Neil will provide them with such an opportunity.

Fortunately, everyone here is very nice to Moon. No one will criticize him for being a "half-baked psychic". Some older soldiers even bring Moon some homemade candies.

As for why Moon was more diligent in harvesting hazelnuts than in the previous two years.

That's because he wanted to take this opportunity to take a good look at the hazelnut forest, hoping there might be some strange and magical wood in it.

Moon had read in a book that hazelnut wood could also be used to make the body of a wand, and this wood was very suitable for sensitive wizards.

It took five full days to harvest the hundred-acre hazelnut forest, and Moon didn't find any hazelnut trees with magical properties.

Fortunately, he did not come back empty-handed. The three hazel grouse he killed with a slingshot should be enough for tonight's dinner.

Uncle Neil's house is in the north of Xilin Town. The people living nearby are all military families, so it is very safe.

Moon arrived at this small courtyard with only three stone houses in the afternoon. Before he even entered the door, he heard Aunt Daisy's call.

"Sophia, get away from the table. That's a silver coin worth of rye."

"Oh~, Brother Moon!"

Sophia is Neil and Daisy's second child, along with a son, Jay Scarlett.

Seeing his cousin with brown curly hair running over to hug him, Moon quickly put the hazel grouse in his hand aside. When the little girl let go of his hand, Moon took out a penguin wood carving from his pocket and placed it in front of her.

"Is this an animal from the farm? It's so cute!"

Moon's guess was right. Girls have no resistance to such soft and cute animals.

"Kid, I heard what Neil said. You've worked hard collecting hazelnuts this time."

Aunt Daisy came over and hugged Moon and kissed him on the cheek.

"It's just right to roast these three hazel grouse tonight and save some money." Daisy looked at the hazel grouse and turned her head back.

"Also, child, I made two winter clothes for you in the house. Go and try them on for size later."

The dinner was very sumptuous, and it was also the farm’s annual celebration ceremony after the harvest.

Moon specially gave all the fat and tender chicken to Sophia. This little girl was shorter than her peers and needed to eat more.

"Moon, you eat too." Neil took a sip of beer and looked over.

Moon didn't say anything. He wanted to share some of the meat with his family. After all, the food he had at Hogwarts was already very good.

Daisy glared at the slightly drunk Neil, then turned to look at Moon.

"Little Moon, I heard you're saving money? Actually, your family can afford to send you to school, so there's no need for you to work so hard."

Daisy was talking about Moon exchanging wood carvings for money, but he remembered telling Uncle Neil to keep it a secret.

But now that Daisy asked directly, it was very likely that the three silver coins that Neil had hidden were discovered.

Unfortunately, Moon once again became an excuse for his uncle to fool his aunt.

Sure enough, Neil, who was sitting at the other end of the table, was winking at Moon frantically.

"Aunt, I'm planning on learning farm skills from Uncle Neil."

For Moon, ordinary schools in Xilin no longer have any appeal to him. He now only wants to study magic well in Hogwarts.

Moon's words weren't a very good excuse, and Aunt Daisy resumed her usual nagging.

"After graduating from school, you can at best get a job as a clerk in a government department, but on a farm you'll spend your whole life working with the land."

Every time Daisy said these words, Moon had to listen with a smile, even if he was sure he would not go to school, he had to maintain respect for the hostess of the house.

Moon knew that Uncle Neil's family didn't live that well.

In addition to supporting Jay's education at the military academy, they also had to support Sophia, and even provided assistance to more than 30 military dependents in the surrounding area.

Especially now that he has solved the problem of learning magic, there is no need to let the family take on more debt.

After dinner, Neil walked Moon back to the farm while smoking his pipe.

"Little Moon, are you sure you want to learn skills on the farm?"

"That's right, uncle. I want to start by learning about timber procurement."

Moon answered with certainty.

"Timber procurement?" Neil was stunned. He didn't expect that Moon had already thought about what he wanted to learn specifically.

"Indeed, now that this year's harvest is complete, we need to replant some trees, but this year's purchases will have to wait."

"why?"

Moon asked curiously. He knew that Neil paid great attention to the growing season of crops. New trees had to be planted before the spring warmed up, which was also a guarantee of the farm's income for the coming year.

At this time of year in normal years, Neil would have already negotiated a price with the timber merchant.

"Alas, war may be coming. Linmu is now a controlled substance."
