Chapter 210 Summoning Courage, Moving Forward Steadfastly
Justin looked up and found there was nothing there. He scratched his head, his forehead throbbing. "Could this be just my imagination?"
He wouldn't believe it even if you told him. This is pain! If someone could be wrong about this, their senses would be far too fragile. Justin was confused, but he went in anyway, and then…
"Thump!" Justin bumped into something again, this time with much more force than before. Justin collapsed to the ground with a thud. "Damn it!" Justin struggled to his feet, staring at the empty space before him. "Did I encounter a ghost?"
He stretched out his hand and felt around in the air. Justin quickly realized something was wrong. In the seemingly empty air, there appeared to be something like a protective shield.
"Could this be a barrier?" Justin's eyes widened. He had only ever seen barriers in novels! Those were all nonsense.
"So, how do I break this barrier?" Justin faced a difficult problem. Smash it? What if he smashed the support structure of the house? If he used his fists, would he accidentally hurt himself?
"Forget it, forget it." Justin shook his head and threw a punch. Sure enough, no matter how much force was used, Justin was sent flying as far as the punch landed.
"Ah!" Justin screamed as he landed, his hand accidentally grabbed a broken glass bottle, and his palm immediately bled profusely.
Justin, enduring the pain, glared at the invisible barrier with a curse, thinking to himself, "I see, this house is just here to annoy me, isn't it?"
He rushed forward, and this time Justin fell to the ground again. This time, it was on the floor of Natalie's room. Justin's hand hit the ground, and the pain made him jump up.
"How did I get in?" Justin seemed to have discovered a new continent. Looking at his injured hand, he immediately understood. This barrier was supposed to be accessible only to Natalie's relatives, but he was a transmigrator, so in terms of soul connection, there was no blood relation. Once he bled, he could enter.
"This is... self-harm!" Justin muttered helplessly, tearing a corner of the blanket from Natalie's room and hastily bandaging his wound. Ouch!
Justin grinned and laid his palm flat before beginning to examine Natalie's room. Natalie's room was much larger than his own; it was probably the master bedroom. His own room was the guest room.
"Who lets their brother stay in the guest room? At least they should sleep together," Justin thought to himself, and then, without realizing it, he thought of Natalie's delicate face.
Natalie's desk was also made of wood, but it looked much more upscale than her own dilapidated wooden desk. At least it looked like it would last a long time. Hers, on the other hand, looked like it was about to explode.
The first thing Justin noticed was the several books on the table. Not daring to use both hands, he turned the pages with one. Fortunately, Natalie hadn't put any pranks or tricks on the pages, but those were useless to Justin anyway.
Except for one.
On the last page of the book, the doctrines of Natalie's Church were clearly written. Justin was also somewhat surprised.
Rebellion against the Heavenly God Cult!
This wasn't the first time Justin had heard of this church. What exactly was the Celestial Church? Why would Natalie's church rebel against them?
Can't we just travel through time properly?
Justin put the books back where they were, but he still hadn't found the answer he was looking for. He had no choice but to keep searching.
Justin slumped into a chair. Sporadic gunshots rang out from outside. No doubt, another murder. Justin sighed and looked under the table. Suddenly, he spotted a delicate shelf. Carefully removing it, he found it resembled a test tube rack from a chemistry lab. And in each compartment was a small vial of liquid.
"What the hell is this?" Justin frowned, but he didn't dare open it. He just looked around. The liquid inside seemed to be alive, flowing everywhere. Justin didn't shake it.
"A potion?" The more he looked at it, the more it resembled one, but Justin didn't believe potions existed. However, the earlier incident with the barrier made him wonder; this world was very strange!
"Bang!" Another gunshot rang out, followed immediately by the sound of a child crying outside. Justin looked out of Natalie's window and saw a five- or six-year-old child wailing over a man's corpse, while several young soldiers put away their guns and walked away.
They won't even let this go? That's terrifying! Justin broke out in a cold sweat, carefully put away the potion, and scurried out of Natalie's room.
Could it be that I really am going to join that church? Justin thought to himself. But if I really joined, my life would be in a difficult situation!
If the world of ordinary people is so cruel, then isn't the church even darker?
Justin put the potions in his pocket. The bottles containing the potions were very sturdy, and Justin felt he couldn't open them.
However, Justin didn't know the uses of these potions, nor could he find any test subjects. So, he had no choice but to keep them for now.
Justin walked to the coffee machine and started grinding coffee. Having learned from his first experience, Justin's hands gradually kept pace. Soon, a cup of coffee was ready.
But it's already afternoon, isn't Natalie back yet?
Justin looked puzzled. Were church matters really more important than family? It seemed he could only rely on himself. Justin took a sip of coffee. He had a master's degree in medicine; with his skills, he should be able to be a good doctor here. But the medical practices here seemed to be some kind of magic potion…
"Potion!" Justin muttered to himself, referring to the thing that had cut off his source of income. His immediate priority was to investigate why he had ended up here. And the best place he knew of so far was only two places.
One of them, without a doubt, is the Church. The most common yet most mysterious institution on the continent of Horn. However, Justin was determined; he wouldn't join the Church unless absolutely necessary.
As for the second location, Justin felt a chill run down his spine at the thought. The police here were completely different from those in his world!
So, what should I do?
Justin was at a loss. Then he heard running sounds outside the door; it seemed there was some kind of perk up ahead!
No, I can't live like this, barely scraping by! Justin clenched his fist tightly, almost collapsing from the pain in his wound.
The police station might have the answer it's looking for.
After saying this, Justin wiped the blood from his wound and left the house again. As the door closed, Justin suddenly felt that he had embarked on an extremely difficult path.
