Conquer Europe from the West

Chapter 47 Old acquaintance Perris

Chapter 47 Old acquaintance Perris
The guys in the second battalion were so frustrated.

The situation of the Fourth Battalion is similar.

Because they were not members of the machine gun team, they had no way to participate in this encirclement operation.

A rifleman carries 60 rounds of ammunition, plus the five in the gun, for a total of 5 rounds.

The remaining quota was given to machine guns, so they were not allowed to participate in the battle.

All night long, they lay in ambush on the tops of the Vosges Mountains and on the east bank of the Rhine, following orders from Ryan and his two battalion commanders to stand by. (Ryan was the commander of the mixed brigade, roughly equivalent to a major, but not a major.)
Several of them had been hit by stray bullets in previous battles, but because there was not enough anesthetic and doctors could not reach the front line, they were taken to Strasbourg by truck drivers after crying for an hour or so.

This caused the troops to lose a lot of morale at the beginning, but soon, with the arrival of midnight, everything turned around completely.

And now, the shelling is over.

The troops of the 1st Company of the 2nd Battalion, which was closest to Ryan, were the most excited. Their company commander, Lieutenant Klopp, listened to the entire conversation between Ryan and the headquarters and stood beside Brinkmann with great interest.

Ryan had seen this second lieutenant without the word "Feng" in his name a long time ago. He was also the first front-line officer in Episode 7 whose name Ryan remembered, so Ryan directly called Klopp's name after hanging up the phone.

"Lieutenant Klopp, you lead the first company of the second battalion to prepare for the attack."

"Brinkman, call Wolfe and tell him to take the 2nd Company of the 4th Battalion and prepare to cross the Rhine. The rest of the men will take their positions and fire at any moving red hats or blue clothes."

"Yes!" The female lieutenant immediately turned around and made a phone call.

Rennes looked at Klopp again.

This little guy looked a little goofy, but he was a second lieutenant after all: "Have you ever been to the battlefield?"

The young man, with long blond hair sticking out from behind his pointed helmet, immediately said, "When the Farlans launched their attack, I spoke with the captain in the camp."

"Oh? The battalion that requested assistance, right?"

Ryan had a good memory and he immediately remembered what Brinkman had said when he had just crossed over.

"No, I was asking if Catherine from the 502nd Brigade was there." Klopp's expression immediately turned gloomy.

Ryan had never heard of anyone named Catherine and guessed she was from the medical team. However, it was difficult to say anything at this time. He just patted Klopp's arm and said, "Get your people ready."

"Yes!"

Klopp immediately turned around and left. Not long after, Ryan saw more than 200 infantrymen coming out from various reverse slopes and reconnaissance positions along the mountain road.

After rechecking the map, Ryan saw the dozens of red dots in the center of the battlefield or in the trenches.

Most of these people were pushed to the middle of the barbed wire on both sides. Most of them were knocked down by machine gun fire while fleeing, and then were crushed by the people rushing up from behind.

The advantage is that you won't die, but the disadvantage is that everyone around you is dead except you.

A few red dots were in the communication trenches and trenches, and their situation was similar. At most, they were lucky and hid in the sturdy trench dormitories and were not killed by the explosion.

Ryan breathed a sigh of relief, because this would make things much simpler.

He took a helmet from Brinkman, which had a small plug-like part cut off by himself, put it on, and gave orders to the company that was lined up in squads and platoons.

"Company One, Platoon One, search the passages between the barbed wire. Shoot any soldiers still breathing! Don't get killed by the Farlane chickens hiding under the corpses!"

"Yes, sir!"

"Second Platoon, you are responsible for covering First Platoon's actions and confirm whether there are any Farlan chickens in the barbed wire. If there are, shoot them on the spot. I don't want to hear chickens crowing in the barbed wire while I eat. Got it?"

"Understood! Sir!"

Then there are only three rows left.

Ryan pointed at the platoon leader of the third platoon: "You, take the third platoon and me to clean the trenches. The requirements are the same as those for the first and second platoons. Do you understand?" "Yes!"

The young sergeant swallowed and then shouted.

But before his voice died down, Ryan heard the sound of a motorcycle.

“Who’s driving?”

Ryan immediately looked in the direction where the sound came from - under an anti-aircraft balloon.

"Someone from the reconnaissance camp?"

His brows furrowed as he watched the military motorcycle bumping up the mountain and stopping next to his FK.96 field gun.

It was not until then that Ryan discovered that the person driving the car was Warrant Officer Perris from the Air Force Fleet, whom he had accidentally picked up on his way to Strasbourg.

"Warrant Officer Perris?"

He looked at the young girl with some surprise. She was still wearing a black leather military uniform even in the middle of summer. It was late at night when they met, and he didn't see her age. Now he could see that she was at most seventeen or eighteen years old, definitely under twenty, and still in school.

This is too young.

Ryan looked at Brinkman beside him - she was 26 years old, two years younger than him, which was about the same age.

Then he saw Warrant Officer Perris saluted and said, "I am here to assist in the search for the whereabouts of enemy officers on the front line, under orders from headquarters."

She handed Ryan a document signed by General Hellingen. It was obviously a blank document that had been signed in advance.

But now there is a line of words typed on it.

The content is very simple.

The front-line troops were asked to capture all Farlan officers alive if possible.

"I received the order."

Ryan handed the document to Brinkmann beside him. She was his adjutant, so it would be the right person to give it to.

"But how can you be sure that the other person is an officer?" he asked Perris.

Then Perris took out a ruby pendant the size of a baby's fist from her clothes and said, "Use this."

As soon as the gem approached Ryan, it began to emit a bright red light, pointing directly in Ryan's direction, as if it had eyes.

Ryan immediately understood the function of this thing - an enemy-searching radar, used only by officers.

Then he said in a helpless tone: "Okay, follow me, don't go ahead."

After traveling for so many days, Ryan has now almost accepted the rules of this world.

This place is different from Earth. There are always strange things appearing in strange places.

Ryan took another look at the pendant hanging around Perris's neck and thought, these scouts have so many gadgets.

He no longer thought it was a ruby.

At least rubies can't shine when pointed at people.

On the side, the soldiers of the first and second platoons of the first company of the second battalion had already lined up and left the hillside. A squad with quick feet had even rushed to the edge of the barbed wire under the leadership of the platoon leader.

Seeing this, Ryan didn't think much about it and waved his hand to the people in the third row: "You all heard what Warrant Officer Perris said! The command from the headquarters is to capture the officers alive! Kill the others! Go!"
