Infinite Terror: Infinite Reversal
Chapter 33: Give Him a Little Temperature Shock
Chapter 33 Give Him a Little Temperature Shock
Mu Xiang naturally chose the Resident Evil world, setting the location as Red Queen's main control room.
Although his eyesight had been greatly enhanced—his glasses had become mere decoration, providing some visibility even in the dark—Mu Xiang immediately turned on a tactical flashlight and attached it to his helmet.
Back to the hive as a miner.
Mu Xiang glanced at the main control room door, which was tightly sealed shut. It seemed they had closed it as soon as they became famous. However, there were no windows on the door, so they couldn't see outside—he wondered how Zheng Zha and the others had managed to observe the laser channel through this door in the original story.
[Logically, there shouldn't be any Lickers here at all; this part in the novel is extremely illogical.]
As Mu Xiang pondered this, he crouched down to examine the connector on the Red Queen's motherboard. He had initially worried that there might be some hidden mechanism making it difficult to access, although Alice in the movie could insert it herself when she had amnesia. After trying it out, he found nothing unusual; it was as simple as operating an old-fashioned DVD player. Mu Xiang didn't treat the device with much care, casually stuffing it into the designated space in his backpack. He even pressed down on the rather large motherboard to prevent it from obstructing his access to medication.
He certainly didn't intend to use this to exchange for money with the Main God. Although the Main God in the original story was a bit poor, he wouldn't be so poor as to accept junk like the Red Queen's motherboard. If he could survive until Resident Evil 2, then having this thing could still be used as a bargaining chip when dealing with the Umbrella Corporation... Mu Xiang could tell that although someone in the Umbrella Corporation wanted to release the virus, the company also genuinely wanted to get back the Red Queen's motherboard.
It feels pretty good to disgust the Umbrella Corporation.
Leaving the Red Queen mainframe, which had been offline for an unknown period, Mu Xiang turned his back and gave the machine, which was clever but prone to making blunders, the middle finger. Then he directly started dismantling the mainframe room door from the inside. The door's mechanical structure wasn't complex; the gears and mesh structure on both sides were well-suited for forced entry. As a defense for the Red Queen's mainframe room, its advantage should have been its thickness, giving the Red Queen ample time to activate its laser and other weapon systems. However, thickness was useless against Mu Xiang; he hadn't intended to force it open in the first place.
Mu Xiang easily ripped off the door lock and several gears on top and bottom, then pulled the door open and walked out without a care. With his B-level enhancement, he felt much more confident—well, mainly because the Red Queen had long since shut down, making these defenses a joke to him.
The door at the other end of the passage was even simpler. This type of door, which retracts from top to bottom, had many flaws, and Mu Xiang quickly tore off several panels one by one. His muscle strength was now almost eight times that of an average person, and his power was significantly greater. For him, this kind of door design from an old-fashioned science fiction movie was far too conservative.
"Restaurant B is just steps away. I wonder how things are going there... The worst thing is that all the Lickers have thawed and come out." Mu Xiang wasn't worried about surviving. With his current gear, unless he was ganged up on, he could easily run away. His biggest problem was not knowing how much time had passed; that was something uncontrollable.
He didn't know exactly when they left the Hive in this world, and even though the watch now showed a large countdown and a small time (Mu Xiang was even wondering which standard time it was), it wasn't of much reference value.
Upon reaching Restaurant B, a few scattered zombies could already be seen wandering around. Because of Mu Xiang's plan, the zombies were only released after leaving the Hive and breaking ties with Red Queen, due to a remote shutdown. Therefore, there were no living people in Restaurant B to attract their attention. The few zombies were simply wandering here by chance.
Mu Xiang now only feels a little disgusted when he sees them, and is no longer afraid... If he is sure that he will not be infected, what is there to be afraid of about zombies? The T-virus zombies produced by "Resident Evil" are not a threat to anyone under these circumstances.
Ignoring them for the time being, Mu Xiang quickly moved between the containers, quickly moving through them. He found that apart from a few containers that were already dark and open—not broken open—the rest of the containers were still closed… glowing with the red UNSTABLE light. However, some containers were already making faint noises, it seemed that the Lickers were slowly waking up.
“Five boxes were opened, clearly bio-weapons activated by the Red Queen, unlike the awakening caused by battles and power outages in the movies.” Mu Xiang counted, then chuckled: “But we only saw two in the end… Did the other three get lost? The Hive’s research on Lickers is really ineffective; both their manufacturing and guidance are very unstable.”
Just then, a zombie swayed over and opened its mouth, which was missing half of its cheek, towards the tin can.
Mu Xiang remained calm. The instant it lunged, he grabbed its neck and, with a gentle pull, snapped the infected creature's neck, sending it crashing to the ground. [We can't delay any longer; it's best to install it now, just to be on the safe side.]
Mu Xiang walked towards the center of Restaurant B and took a long metal cylinder out of his backpack. It was about the same length as two thermos cups stacked together, but looking at its base radius, it didn't take up much space in such a large individual soldier's backpack.
Then Mu Xiang snapped the necks of two more zombies before finding the most suitable place to put them.
The high-efficiency thermobaric bomb, costing 55 reward points, is considered mid-range in price among bombs that don't require side quests. However, after reading the description, Mu Xiang deduced that this thing was quite suitable for this purpose... it had a very high cost-performance ratio. The so-called high efficiency refers to the fact that it is filled with thermobaric explosives with an improved formula that has a better reaction effect, achieving comparable results with a smaller amount of explosive. Moreover, based on the principle of thermobaric bombs, when used in enclosed or semi-enclosed areas, the deflagration reaction and thermobaric intensity will be greatly enhanced, increasing the destructive power.
Mu Xiang saw a cheaper, more efficient thermobaric weapon, but out of caution, he bought this one instead. This highly efficient thermobaric weapon, originating from some unknown future world, could be used as a disposable individual weapon or detonated remotely, meeting Mu Xiang's requirements.
[Ten times the TNT equivalent, that's almost half a ton of TNT's power... and that's outdoor data; I wonder what it's equivalent to here.]
He then took out a metal piece that looked like a button battery and attached it to the high-efficiency thermobaric bomb. He then got up to close all the doors in Restaurant B that led to other research areas, leaving only the route they had used to evacuate.
Mu Xiang didn't want any flaws to weaken the power of this thing, so he sealed it off as much as possible.
Some doors were electronically authenticated, and Mu Xiang had no choice but to abandon the others after twisting nearly ten zombies, and headed back towards the route he had taken to escape.
The sounds from inside the containers were becoming increasingly clear; perhaps within ten minutes another group of Lickers would fully awaken and destroy their storage devices.
After closing the door of Restaurant B, Mu Xiang ran up the stairs. He was still clutching a device about the size of a cell phone, the very device that worked with the "button battery"... The small metal piece acted as an electromagnetic fuse, which could be detonated remotely. The remote control screen displayed the signal strength; it wasn't too unstable yet, so Mu Xiang could easily run up the stairs.
After being enhanced to Grade B, not to mention the increased speed, Mu Xiang could run up these stairs without even breaking a sweat. He quickly reached the middle of the stairs, where he could hear the explosion but was unlikely to be affected by the blast. Judging from the vertical height, he should have already been out of the blast radius.
Suddenly, a sound came from above. Mu Xiang heard it clearly and frowned as he looked up.
There must be a monster, maybe a zombie, or maybe a lost Licker?
Then he pressed the remote control.
I posted this at 8 a.m., how's that?
