Chapter 461 Erosion or Disguise

Mu Xiang's first move was a killing blow. With killing intent and energy infused into his body, his protective force field expanded outwards, directly colliding with Nordens' shield, while the sharp blade light also slashed directly at the sea-blue area.

A dreamlike beam of light shot upwards, hurtling towards Mu Xiang, aiming to force him to defend. But Zhang Jie smiled; his surging psychic power seemed to split into two layers. The lower layer swept away the three sets of divine essences, while the upper layer tilted, causing the light to slide away.

The Branch of Destruction rose behind Zheng Zha, its blade pointing at Nordens. A giant hand of crimson flame appeared out of thin air, grasping the greatsword, and dark red flames surged into its blade. Zheng Zha, meanwhile, raised his head and opened his mouth, revealing three heads and six arms. Three blazing beams of fire did not attack Nordens, but instead spewed towards the sword above his head.

"The three of you ganging up on the few and trying to seize the divine position is rather despicable, isn't it?" Nordens wielded his halberd, finally able to make his move. Three blades, seemingly both metal and wood, transformed into countless cold lights, blocking Mu Xiang's pursuit. He let out a low shout, and the countless cold lights suddenly coalesced into one, slamming towards Mu Xiang's chest.

With a single sweep of her sword, Jiyue neutralized the attack. The two fierce forces collided, sending both Mu Xiang and Nordens flying backward.

Mu Xiang pointed his knife at Nordens: "You really know how to talk. By that logic, it's our fault."

Nordens said in a deep voice, "I have already said that this divinity and godhood are the reward for the three of you. Why make it so ugly?"

“I’ve already been frank, I do want this divinity and godhood.” Mu Xiang shrugged. “But what are you plotting? If you think that being sacrificed to another plane as a so-called god is nothing, then I can only admire your noble character.”

"Heh, you do have some knowledge after all." Nordens suddenly laughed, but this laugh was completely different from the previous one, appearing extremely sinister. "But you still dare to act like this, which can only be described as extremely arrogant."

Mu Xiang smiled indifferently: "It's hard to say who's being arrogant... but it's pretty clear, isn't it? The so-called Abyss Invasion was all your own doing, wasn't it?"

Nordens stroked his beard and chuckled dismissively, “You have to have evidence to speak… Now that I’ve already said it, you’re not worthy of me hiding anything from you. But if you’re just making wild guesses, you’re not qualified to be an informed person.”

The next moment, the sound of a tsunami rang in their ears. It was as if the boundless waves above a deep abyss had come into Nordens' hands. The trident, made of some unknown tree branch, was now accompanied by a raging storm, pressing down on them with terrifying force.

Mu Xiang shook his head, signaling Zheng Zha and the other to focus on their tasks, then took a step forward. Another primal, wild aura erupted from Mu Xiang; his eyes were vacant, and his genetic locks kept unlocking. His upper eyelids flickered upwards, and an inexplicable force pushed Nordens's momentum back.

"Heh, you haven't even overcome your inner demons, yet you dare to fight me... You're just courting death." Nordens chuckled lightly. "Once you descend into madness, let's see how you handle things."

Mu Xiang shrugged: "No need for you to worry about that. How should I address you? Nyarlathotep?"

“Huh? Hahahaha…” Nordens paused for a moment, then burst into laughter, “It seems you were just guessing.”

Mu Xiang adjusted his glasses, and blurry light and shadow appeared around him. "Besides recounting the truth itself, what reasoning can be without speculation? Even if you're not Nyarlathotep, you still have a deep connection to the Abyss." Nordens secretly channeled his energy, but the azure light surrounding him couldn't easily penetrate Mu Xiang's Limitless Sword Qi. He said seemingly nonchalantly, "What makes you say that? Is it because I'm known as the Lord of the Great Abyss?"

Mu Xiang smiled and said, "Don't argue. It would be fine if you were from a plane without magic, but for a so-called god like you, titles and such are related to some kind of reality... aren't they?"

Before Nordens could continue arguing, Mu Xiang said, "You are the master of Nightmares. With your control over Nightmares, you couldn't possibly not see their origins, right? Otherwise, if you were fooled by an Outer God under Nyarlathotep, you, the chief god of the Dream Realm, shouldn't be going against it."

"The same logic applies... You've already waged war against the Abyss, so why can you tolerate the presence of the Great Old Ones' retinues, or even the Great Old Ones themselves, or even an avatar of Nyarlathotep in the Dreamlands? There's only one explanation: you need them."

Hearing this, Nordens sneered: "You do know a lot about these things... Yes, as someone from another plane, you must have seen projections of this system. But if you doubt me because of some discrepancies, then you are being foolish."

“Of course, that’s not a reason to doubt you… but no matter how you change the subject, you can’t explain how someone with your strength could possibly oppose a fifth-tier Abyss. Oh, maybe I should change what I said earlier. Perhaps they need you?” Mu Xiang shook his head. “I don’t believe any of that bullshit about the spirits of planes being here. I’ve already seen the principles of civilization in this world, and there’s no information about the spirits of planes in them at all.”

"So, how should I address you?" Mu Xiang brandished his sword, a crescent blade flying from his hand. "Are you a dimensional deity corrupted by the abyss... or a visitor from the abyss disguised in another guise?"

Nordens laughed loudly. He hadn't transformed into any terrifying or distorted form yet, which surprised the three of them.

"You want to know now... too early!" The trident swept across the void, and waves surged out of nowhere. "If you can't get out of here unscathed, you're not qualified to see the real me."

Mu Xiang smiled faintly: "It seems to be the latter."

The moonlight, sharp and piercing, collided with the onrushing waves, transforming into countless fragments of moonlight. Nordens hadn't reached the advanced fourth-tier level, so in terms of energy intensity, Mu Xiang couldn't possibly be inferior to him. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the fragmented, flowing moonlight was actually a dense array of diffusing blades of light, directly slicing the waves to pieces.

What concerned Mu Xiang was that these waves actually scattered into sprays after colliding. He was certain that there was absolutely no seawater in the Great Abyss.

Whether it's condensing water elements or simulating them with energy, the same effect can be achieved... but Mu Xiang couldn't detect that Nordens had mobilized water elements, yet the effect presented was not merely an energy simulation. This was even stranger than the existence of air on the moon in the Dream Realm.

The only explanation is that he truly possesses some kind of authority over the plane... but isn't the Dream Realm one with the Abyss? How can there be such a normal god within the Abyss?
