Doomsday America

Chapter 19 God descends to earth

Chapter 19 God descends to earth
While Madison was threatening Eugene, William finally regained his freedom.

He scrambled to his father's side, looking at his father's corpse and silently weeping.

"Madison!"

Gavin, who was standing nearby, wiped his tactical dagger clean, stood up, and shouted to Old Man Mack, who was continuing to suppress Eugene.

"Stop playing tricks on him, bring him here, I have questions for him!"

"Good boss!"

Madison responded loudly, and when he emphasized "boss," he brought his head close to Eugene's face, staring intently into his eyes.

Meeting Madison's gaze, Eugene nodded repeatedly and said.

"I see."

"That would be great!"

Madison snorted and grabbed Eugene by the shoulder, heading towards Gavin.

Eugene was being carried so far that his feet barely touched the ground, and he was slammed down in front of Gavin by Madison in a sorry state.

Gavin stood in front of Eugene, looking at Eugene's face as he lifted it from the asphalt road, and asked.

How is Ennis doing?

"What else could it be? I had just arrived outside the town when I saw thousands of zombies surrounding that RV and charging towards me!"

"How much?" Gavin frowned.

"I don't know, but at least a thousand. You know, Ennis is a big town!"

"And then?" Gavin narrowed his eyes.

"Then William saw his dad embedded in the safety pin..."

"I'm concerned about the zombie horde!"

Gavin abruptly interrupted Eugene, bowing his head and emphasizing to Eugene.

"When you left Ennis, were the zombie hordes following you and approaching our current location?"

At this point, Gavin bent down and pulled Eugene up.

Eugene used Gavin's strength to steady himself. Just as he was about to pat his clothes, Gavin grabbed him by the neck!

With just one hand, Gavin forcefully grabbed Eugene by the neck and lifted him up.

Gavin paused for a moment, watching Eugene struggle in his hands, then turned to Madison and spoke.

"Old Mike, there's a woman who's fainted in the RV. Go check on her."

"Haha, that was so satisfying! I'm off!"

Madison laughed as he walked towards the RV, opened the door, and got in.

It wasn't until Madison got into the car that Gavin glanced at Eugene twice before tossing the purple-faced Eugene aside.

thump.

After Eugene fell to the ground, he didn't even have time to feel the pain before he immediately covered his neck and started coughing.

After coughing heavily a dozen times, Eugene got up, panting, and said fiercely to Gavin.

"You're awesome!"

"Enough with the nonsense, what's the status of the zombie horde?" Gavin asked coldly.

Upon hearing this, Eugene rubbed his neck vigorously and said awkwardly.

"All I know is that the last time I saw them, they were still chasing after our two cars."

As for what happened later, I couldn't see it anymore, so how would I know?

Anyway, the road ahead is definitely overrun by zombies, damn it, damn it, damn it!

At this point, Eugene realized something was wrong.

He had been to the Dallas area, where the roads were already overrun by zombie hordes, and he even ran into several zombies.

Now, the road to Ennis's side is also blocked by zombies!

Eugene's face immediately turned ashen, while Gavin exhaled a breath of stale air and said...

"We're still far from being in dire straits. Don't give me that damn face. I'll go check out Ennis's place next; maybe there's still a way out."

"As for you, you fucking keep an eye on that cop whose father is only half a father. His crying is attracting zombies from all over Texas!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin pointed to William and his half-father.

Seeing this, Eugene couldn't help but snort and say.

"You son of a bitch, I'm not some lackey who follows you around playing ball, you... Fuck!"

Eugene couldn't help but shrink his pupils halfway through his sentence, and he rubbed his neck, taking a step back without making a sound.

Seeing that Gavin didn't mind, Eugene finally breathed a sigh of relief and dragged William away from his father while cursing.

"Let me go! Let me see my dad one more time! How could you just kill him like that? He might still be alive! He's still moving! He...?!"

William continued to struggle, spouting incoherent nonsense. Eugene, growing weary, finally delivered a heavy knee strike to William's neck. William lost consciousness and was tossed into the passenger seat of the old Ford by Eugene.

After dealing with William, Eugene returned to Gavin's side and stood there awkwardly for a moment.

After a moment, feeling increasingly uncomfortable, he spat and said.

"I'll go see that woman you mentioned too. I know how to treat minor injuries from my time in the army, it's all... cough cough, it's all experience!"

After saying that, Eugene walked towards the RV without waiting for Gavin's response.

Gavin then came up behind the vomiting little girl and silently stared at her.

Sensing Gavin's approach, the child gagged twice, then looked up at Gavin with his pale blue eyes.

Upon seeing the vomit around the little girl's mouth, Gavin's Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily.

"gross."

He muttered something, went back to the Tyrannosaurus Rex to get a bottle of water, unscrewed it, and handed it to the child.

"Wash your mouth."

"Thank...thank you...!"

Before the little girl could even express her gratitude, she saw the young zombie not far away, and then she vomited even more readily, crying as she did so.

Gavin didn't urge him, but instead leaned against the RV and started smoking.

After taking just two puffs, the little girl composed herself, rinsed her mouth, and looked up.

"Thank you!"

she said seriously.

“I’m Winnie, Winnie Baker. I know you. My brother loves watching you play football!”

At this point, Winnie looked at her brother with disappointment.

After taking a closer look at the bloody hole in her brother's head, she gagged again and turned back to Gavin to continue speaking.

“My parents and I thought he was just sick, but it wasn’t a disease, was it?”

"Maybe it's an illness, maybe it isn't, but I don't want him to have the chance to infect anyone."

Gavin responded with a deep drag of his cigarette.

Watching the smoke gradually dissipate, Winnie took a deep breath and then spoke to Gavin.

“I know that many people have the same disease. They tackled my dad and almost dragged my mom out of the car. She knocked herself unconscious after slamming the car door shut.”

"So you drove out like that, you've got guts, kid."

Gavin nodded approvingly.

The situation of this family in the RV was quite obvious; they only managed to escape Ennis town by sheer luck, thanks to the little girl in front of them stepping on the gas like a god descending from heaven.

This aligns with Gavin's assessment: even the lucky ones who survived the early stages of the apocalypse must possess certain qualities to have a chance to go further.

For example, Eugene's decisiveness and the little girl's calmness and courage.

As for good luck, that seems to need no further explanation.

After all, once everyone turned into zombies, those who didn't were already being blessed with good fortune.

When Gavin praised her, the little girl didn't become smug like most children. Instead, she shook her head like a little adult.

"I can't drive, but I've watched my dad drive. However, I can't drive when it's moving. I'm so grateful for your help."

"Alright, even God doesn't mind giving you a hand, so why should I be stingy and give you a halfway? Do I have to show that I'm more aloof than God?"

Gavin exhaled a puff of smoke, then waved to the little girl while holding the cigarette.

"Let's go see your mother. Hopefully, her condition won't take up too much of our time."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin turned and walked towards the carriage, with the little girl following closely behind him, seemingly lost in thought.

As an American girl, she formed a clique with the girls in her class as early as the third grade of elementary school.

So, in this small group of strangers, is the person who is most likely the leader worried that his mother will continue to waste their time?

Thinking of this, Winnie's small face contorted in thought for a moment, then she suddenly turned to look at the passenger seat of the Ford.

When she saw the unconscious policeman, her eyes lit up, and she immediately put on a "I'm so smart" expression.

Meanwhile, Gavin had arrived at the carriage, where Madison was helping the woman sit in the carriage, while Eugene was cursing on the steps leading up to the carriage.

"If you ask me, two slaps would have woken her up. She only had a minor cut on her head; two slaps would have been enough!"

"Shut your mouth, Redhead!"

As Madison retorted to Eugene, he grabbed the woman's chin and shook it back and forth. It seemed he was shaking it a little too hard, and the woman opened her eyes in a daze.

"This is... wait, Edward! Winnie!"

As soon as she regained consciousness, the woman screamed and tried to sit up, but as soon as she exerted herself, she felt dizzy and staggered backward.
