Doomsday America

Chapter 24 Well done, buddy!

Chapter 24 Well done, buddy!
"rice?"

Doris was a little surprised; she hadn't expected Gavin to like this kind of food.

After all, in America, rice is grown primarily for export; the Americans themselves rarely put rice on their tables.

However, there really was a small bag of rice in their car. After recalling its location, Doris wiped away her tears and went to find it in the cupboard.

A small bag weighs only 5.4 kilograms, not much, but definitely enough for several meals.

Once she was sure she could basically satisfy Gavin's appetite, Doris breathed a sigh of relief and put the meat chunks wrapped in herbs into the frying pan to fry.

As the meat sizzled, Eugene leaned against the car window next to the dining table, gazing gloomily out the window.

On the sofa not far away, Madison turned back and forth a few times, feeling that there was something strange about the noise, so he started cursing at Eugene.

"Can you fucking stop shaking your leg?!"

"Huh? Did I shake my leg?"

Eugene was startled, instinctively stomped his feet on the ground, and then slapped his thigh hard.

"Alright, buddy, I'll keep an eye on my leg. You know, a man's feet are like a cat's tail, sometimes I don't notice them, haha~"

Amidst the soft laughter, Eugene's expression seemed a little better, but his eyes remained fixed on the window, not daring to relax for even a moment.

Gavin lay down in the passenger seat, threw his cigarette butt out the window, then closed the window and put his feet up on the dashboard.

With his left hand resting naturally on his chest and his right hand bent and hanging down to his waist, Gavin said lazily, his fingertips lightly touching the handle of the Colt Python gun.

"Being nervous is the most useless emotion. When we have time later, I'll take you out to collect trash and have some fun with zombies. Then you won't be nervous anymore."

"Huh? Nervous? Me? No way!"

Upon hearing Gavin's words, Eugene hurriedly shook his head and scoffed.

"When I was fighting in Iraq, you were still playing football in college. Do you think I would be nervous?"

"Quarterback, don't fucking think I'm some Hollywood sissy. I'm a real tough guy, the kind who's been on the battlefield!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene tapped the table in annoyance.

Gavin chuckled softly and silently closed his eyes.

On the sofa, Madison spat and sneered.

"You? A tough guy? Wait until you stop shaking your leg before you talk to us like that!"

"Gavin led me out of a manor teeming with zombies. What about you? What have you been through? Driving a beat-up car and gazing lovingly into the eyes of your cop dad?"

"Fuck you, Madison, can't you shut your stinking mouth?!"

Eugene gave Madison the middle finger in frustration, and Madison returned the favor by giving him two middle fingers.

Amidst their quiet argument and the sounds of Doris frying, roasting, and stewing meat, Gavin fell into a deep sleep.

After an unknown amount of time, Gavin suddenly woke up from his deep sleep.

The first thing he did upon waking was instinctively grab the Colt python with his right hand and pull it out.

As he turned the hammer, Gavin sat up from the passenger seat, looking at the hurried footsteps that had woken him.

William, holding binoculars, was seen running quickly from the back of the car to the front.

"What happened!"

Madison hadn't slept, and upon seeing William running, she immediately asked him a question.

As Madison asked the question, Eugene suddenly jumped up from the table, drool dripping from half his face, and asked sleepily and anxiously.

"What's going on? Are the zombies coming... *slurp*"

Halfway through his sentence, Eugene realized he was drooling, so his face darkened and he quickly wiped his mouth vigorously with his sleeve.

Not far away, Doris, who was stewing meat, saw Eugene wiping his mouth with his sleeve and quickly lowered her head.

They're so dirty, so disgusting, waah... God...

Just as Doris was wallowing in self-pity, William hurriedly handed the telescope to Madison, saying...

"It looks like zombies are coming!"

"Really? Let me see!"

Eugene immediately interrupted and tried to snatch the binoculars away, but Madison quickly moved them aside and cursed.

"Go back to sleep, you stupid tough guy who said you'd stand guard, shit!"

After cursing Eugene, he picked up his binoculars and looked out the window, but after looking for a long time, he still couldn't see any zombies.

At the same time, Gavin came to Madison's side with a gun and put his hand on Madison's shoulder.

"let me see."

"You're awake? You only slept for a short while?"

Madison asked in surprise and handed over the binoculars.

Gavin took the binoculars and holstered his pistol, while Eugene frowned as he looked at the holstered weapon. "Tsk tsk, this Colt is fucking beautiful. No wonder it's a rich man's gun. It's probably worth thirty iPhones!"

While making a lighthearted remark, Eugene was secretly pondering Gavin's sudden awakening and instinctive draw of his gun, and was astonished by Gavin's vigilance.

Upon hearing Eugene's words, Madison instinctively retorted.

"You have no taste! That's a revolver in the same style as Elvis Presley's; you definitely couldn't get it for less than the price of fifty Apple phones!"

"okay."

Gavin, holding up his binoculars, gave a reminder, and Madison immediately fell silent; Eugene also stopped talking.

Gavin glanced in Ennis's direction for a moment, and after confirming that he hadn't seen anything, he immediately turned to look at Palmer.

While using binoculars to locate the zombies, Gavin asked William a question.

"Did the zombies come from the direction of Palmer?"

"Oh right, that's right, not Ennis's side!"

William nodded emphatically, while Gavin exhaled and said calmly.

"Explain it clearly as soon as possible next time."

"I see……"

William lowered his head and leaned silently against the carriage without saying a word.

After observing the area, Gavin confirmed the presence of the zombies and immediately addressed the waiting group.

"Don't worry, the zombies are much smaller than those in Ennis's direction, they're more than two kilometers away from us, and their numbers are about... six hundred or seven hundred?"

“I think they probably came from the direction of Hutchins, tracking Eugene’s Old Ford.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin put down the binoculars and handed them to Madison, who immediately looked in Palmer's direction.

And so the binoculars were passed from one person to another. Just as Winnie was also coming over to take the binoculars and keep looking through them, Gavin came to the front of the car door.

Gavin patted William on the shoulder encouragingly and smiled.

"Well done, buddy."

"I will try my best... I will try my best not to let us become like my father!"

William gritted his teeth and responded, Gavin nodded, and then pushed open the RV door.

Wow!

The sound of the car door startled Winnie, and she almost dropped her binoculars.

Under the worried gazes of everyone, Gavin calmly jumped out of the car and retrieved a bottle of mineral water from the Tyrannosaurus Rex's cargo bed.

After taking a delicious sip, he waved the mineral water towards everyone inside the RV window and laughed.

"Help yourself to get what you want to drink."

"Shit, I'd think you were here on vacation. You were all high and mighty before, why don't you care now?"

Eugene muttered something to himself, then strode off the RV, picked out two glass Coke bottles, and opened them.

William took a deep breath, followed Eugene out of the car, and reached out to take the extra bottle of Coke Eugene had taken.

To everyone's surprise, Eugene quickly dodged his hand, while laughing and scolding him.

"This isn't for you, you sissy, you fucking take it yourself."

As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene handed the Coke to Winnie, who had just gotten out of the car, and said...

"Here you go, kid, don't let some immature cop snatch it from you."

"You're talking nonsense! Why would I steal a child's things!"

William retorted, then grabbed a can of Coke, opened it, and took a big gulp in a huff.

Seeing William's expression, Eugene nodded and smiled.

"At least they're starting to look like police officers."

"cut!"

William gave Eugene the middle finger, but Eugene turned and walked away nonchalantly, leaning against the RV and looking out at the road near Palmer.

As he watched hundreds of zombies trot past Palmer Town in the distance, Eugene looked up at the sky and cursed.

"Screw it, are we really going to have to live with those things from now on? This damn zombie apocalypse!"

"Alright, I haven't even complained yet. Guess what kind of life I used to live, and look at me now, haha."

Gavin tightened the cap on the mineral water bottle and smiled at Eugene.

At the same time, Madison got out of the car and looked at the large group of zombies that were vaguely visible, and asked Gavin a question.

"Boss, Hutchins' zombies are heading towards Ennis. Will this affect our plans?"
