Doomsday America
Chapter 63 No Laughter
Chapter 63 No Laughter
In the end, Gavin dropped some bad news for Madison and Eugene, intending to defuse the situation.
However, it seems that the two of them don't care about the drop in temperature.
Eugene chuckled and waved his hand dismissively.
"We'll do whatever you say. Just tell us what you want us to do, and we'll follow your instructions."
"What experiments, what living or dead subjects, you, as the boss, can worry about that. I only care about what we're having for dinner tonight."
At this point, Eugene revealed a lewd smile.
Madison, noticing Eugene's smile, immediately nudged him on the shoulder and laughed.
"So, what do you think? Doris's cooking is really good, isn't it!"
"Haha, I wasn't expecting her cooking skills, you idiot~"
Eugene laughed and slapped Madison's hand away, giving him a look that said, "You don't understand."
Meeting Eugene's gaze, Madison paused slightly, then tilted his head in bewilderment and asked.
"Wait, you... really? Doris isn't young anymore, have you never tasted a good young woman before?!"
"Bullshit! Only an old maid like her can take care of people. You guys don't know anything. Go back to playing with your young models, you idiots!"
Eugene felt insulted and retaliated by elbowing Madison.
They didn't stop until Gavin gently patted the Raptor's hood.
Seeing that the scene had quieted down, Gavin opened the car door.
"Get in the car!"
"OK!"
"Okay~"
The two hurriedly got into the car and returned to their seats, while Gavin drove away from the edge of the forest and returned the way he came.
Looking at the increasingly distant forest and the crows falling again, Madison said, holding the shotgun.
"Boss, are we just going to leave like this? What about the people who went into the forest..."
"We can't possibly venture into a dangerous and unknown forest for someone whose fate and identity are unknown, especially since there are at least dozens of zombies and an unknown number of zombie horses in the forest."
Gavin interrupted Madison and stepped on the gas to cross the river.
After leaving the river, feeling the car swaying, Madison pursed his lips and finally asked in a low voice.
"Boss, I was just saying, do you think it's possible that the people in the forest could be... your dad?"
At this point, Madison glanced cautiously at Gavin.
But Gavin remained motionless, his expression unchanged.
Seeing that Gavin remained calm, Madison pursed his lips and continued.
"Boss, I know your physique. Don't let your height and weight fool you, your bench press record is higher than mine. You're a monster!"
"I've met your parents before. To have someone like you, your parents must have been athletes, right?"
"If your dad really survived and then hid in the forest, what if we just leave like this...?"
"Alright, Old Mike,"
Gavin quickly interrupted Madison, speaking to him bluntly and unexpectedly.
"Even if my dad were really in the forest, he wouldn't want me to go on an adventure there, besides, my dad is just an average Texan."
As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin accelerated and quickly overtook the previous distance, stopping the car directly in the horse farm area.
Getting out of the car, Gavin pulled out his pistol and hammer, and pointed to the walkie-talkie as he spoke to Eugene.
"Same as always, Eugene watches the cars, and Old Mike works with me. If anything comes up, just let us know."
With walkie-talkies, communication was obviously much easier. While the group chatted for a few minutes on the walkie-talkie, Gavin led Madison on a tour of the horse ranch dormitory.
When they came out, they were carrying not only seven new walkie-talkies, but also three bottles of Coke with ice crystals.
Seeing this, Eugene got out of the car and grabbed his share. The three men, carrying Cokes, leaned against the Raptor, gazing absently at the increasingly lower sun.
After finishing the last sip of his Coke, Gavin tossed the bottle aside and laughed.
"Let's go, get the farm sorted out, then we'll go back to Old Bert's and take a good bath!"
With high spirits, the three boarded the car and quickly drove to the manor area.
Unlike the horse farm, the manor was not quiet. From a distance, Gavin saw two zombies in pajamas wandering around in the garden in front of the manor.
Seeing this, Gavin found a good spot to park the car, intending to let Eugene show off like he did at the dairy farm.
But as soon as he parked the car, he saw two dogs rush into the garden and bark at the wandering zombies.
Upon noticing the dog, the three people in the car tensed up, with Eugene even preparing to take a sniper shot.
At the same time, the zombies in the manor rushed out of the building and gathered in the garden. Among the crowd, there was more than one face that Gavin recognized!
"Boss!"
Eugene, the gunman, was the first to ask.
"Should we kill those two dogs to prevent them from scattering the zombies?"
"No rush, let me take another look."
As Gavin responded, he looked towards the manor through binoculars, his mind brimming with doubt.
The two dogs were still barking, and the zombies' attack posture was genuine.
But after the zombie pounced on the German Shepherd, it only roared at the German Shepherd and did not pounce on it to launch a further attack!
As for whether German Shepherds will attack zombies?
Stop joking, that's a dog raised on Gavin's farm.
At this moment, looking at the familiar humans in front of them, the German Shepherds' eyes were filled with confusion.
They had no idea what was happening.
Why don't humans greet them like they used to?
Why doesn't anyone pat their heads or necks anymore?
The two German Shepherds seemed a little downcast; they sensed something was amiss.
Regardless, the German Shepherds still showed no intention of attacking the zombies.
Although the zombies smelled a bit different, overall, it was still the smell of their owner.
And so, Gavin held the binoculars and watched for a full two minutes.
Until the zombies in the distance all stopped attacking and slowly wandered around the garden.
After a brief moment of confusion, the two German Shepherds quietly wandered among the zombies, sniffing each one with bewilderment.
Seeing this, Gavin put down his binoculars and let out a long sigh of relief.
He turned around and spoke to Eugene and Old Man Mac.
"You've all seen it, haven't you? I suspect the zombies in the dairy farm treat the live cows the same way!"
"I suspect that the zombies only targeted them after the two dogs attacked them."
"Now, because the dogs aren't attacking the zombies, even if their barking attracts the zombies, the zombies will completely ignore them!"
"It's hard to say whether this is good news or bad news, but in any case, at least those two dogs have helped us gather the zombies."
"So, get to work, Eugene."
Gavin made a hand gesture, and Eugene returned a thumbs-up and laughed.
"I know, I knew you couldn't live without me!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene took up his gun and began firing.
With one shot, a female zombie wandering in the garden fell to the ground.
Upon hearing someone fall, the German Shepherd nervously approached the dead zombie, jumping and leaping around it in a panic.
One German Shepherd even stuck out its tongue and frantically licked the wound on the zombie's head, seemingly trying to stop the bleeding!
At that moment, Gavin's throat tightened, he gripped the binoculars tightly with his left hand, and whispered to Eugene.
"Stop for a second!"
After saying that, Gavin stared intently at the scene in the distance.
In his view, the German Shepherd kept licking the female zombie's head and face, and even its mouth was covered in blood!
One second, seven seconds, half a minute...
A full minute passed, and the two German Shepherds were still circling the corpse, with one of them even lying sadly beside it.
"Fake!"
Inside the car, Eugene let out an excited shout and spoke to Gavin.
"Boss, did you see that? Those damn zombies stop spreading once they die, and that dog didn't turn into a zombie dog!"
At this point, Eugene excitedly rushed to the driver's seat, patting Gavin's shoulder repeatedly to share his joy.
But Gavin's face showed no joy whatsoever. He sighed as he handed the binoculars to Madison and then took out a cigarette to smoke.
In the passenger seat, Madison picked up the binoculars and took a look, and all the muscles in his body tensed up!
He shoved Eugene's hand off Gavin's shoulder and cursed at Eugene in annoyance.
"That's enough, Eugene. Can't you fucking see that the boss is in a bad mood? Haven't you seen the news about the boss and his family before?"
"And you really know how to pick people. There are over thirty zombies in the garden. How did you manage to choose so accurately?"
"That's the boss's mom, you idiot!"
