Hogwarts: A Chinese-Style Professor
Chapter 228: Back to the Past
Chapter 228 Back to the Past
"Merlin's beard, you must be insane!"
After hearing Hermione's plan, Ron's eyes widened.
"I've been wondering how you're going to finish all the coursework since you signed up for five elective courses and all the classes on your schedule are crammed together."
I thought you learned through extracurricular classes—but it turns out you used a time-tamper to complete all your classes? Such a gadget actually exists?
And now you're going to use it for even more exciting things?
Harry looked at her in disbelief.
"Hermione, can the Time-Turner really take us back to the past—is there any risk involved?"
"There are risks, of course."
Hermione thought about it and decided not to lie.
It would be fine if she were alone, but she couldn't take Harry and Ron on an adventure together.
"I have never used a time converter to go back more than five hours in time—it is not allowed according to the usage rules."
"Then you still want to do it?"
Ron stared at her, feeling that the Hermione in front of him was somewhat unfamiliar—was this Hermione still the Hermione from their timeline?
Hermione pursed her lips and remained silent—after revealing all this to the two of them, the almost obsessive thoughts in her mind suddenly loosened and dissipated.
She would give up if Harry and Ron strongly objected.
Harry looked Hermione up and down. "Are you really determined to do this? If you insist, I'll lend you the cloak."
Hermione was conflicted.
Ron thought for a moment, then gritted his teeth and said:
"Go, Hermione."
Both of them looked at him in surprise.
Ron continued:
“You really want to go, don’t you? Even someone as rational as you is willing to do something so dangerous—if it were before, even if either Harry or I did something like this, you would definitely have told Professor McGonagall.”
Now it was Hermione's turn to look at Ron with astonishment.
“But—” Ron put his arm around Hermione’s shoulder from behind and then pulled Harry’s arm around her shoulder, “the three of us will go together! Even if something happens, the three of us will face it together—and the person we’re spying on is Professor Levy, how can you manage alone?”
"Uh—" I think the three of us are even worse.
Hermione didn't say the second half of her sentence.
Harry then added:
“Yes, let’s go together—I was there, and I know how to help you cover it up—as long as we’re careful, the professor won’t find out.”
“Okay—” Hermione couldn’t bring herself to refuse.
I was moved and couldn't refuse this friendship.
"Now that we've made up our minds, let's get on with it as soon as possible! Shouldn't the converter's time be regressed as little as possible?"
Ron urged him on.
Harry and Hermione already had this idea, and the three of them quickly got to work. On their way to the dormitory to get the Invisibility Cloak, Harry talked to them.
"I spoke with the professor after 10 p.m. last night. It took about eight minutes from when we left for Hogsmeade Village. Then the professor taught me how to use Apparition, which took about ten minutes. We arrived at Grimmauld Place before 11 p.m. and then stayed at Sirius's house all night."
If you want to experience the whole process—it's 14:30 PM now, we can go back seventeen hours and arrive at Grimmauld House earlier to wait.
"Okay, let's do it that way." The plan was quickly finalized.
The three quickly returned to the Gryffindor Tower. Harry retrieved the Invisibility Cloak from a hidden compartment in his suitcase and swiftly rejoined the other two.
They quietly left the tower and went outside, finding a secluded and deserted corner where they cast soundproofing and simple protective spells.
"Are you ready? I'm about to spin!"
No one spoke; everyone held their breath.
Hermione's voice was a little dry from nervousness. When it really came down to it, she finally started to think she was going crazy.
"Remember the principle—never be seen by anyone, never interact with anything from the past, not even a cat. We are merely observers, ghosts, understand?"
After attending Regulus's funeral, we'll return the way we came, not wanting to do anything unnecessary.
Harry and Ron nodded vigorously, their faces tense.
Ron even instinctively covered his mouth, as if afraid he might accidentally make a sound.
Hermione took a deep breath and pinched the small hourglass between her fingers.
Once, twice, three times. She tried her best to spin as fast and steadily as possible, and more importantly, she couldn't get the number of rotations wrong.
The world began to spin and melt.
A suffocating sense of pressure came from all directions, the light around the three was stretched and distorted, the colors melted into a blurry vortex, and everything turned into flowing liquid.
A sharp whistling sound filled their ears as Harry and Ron clung tightly to Hermione's clothes, huddled inside the Invisibility Cloak—they had both grown quite a bit taller, and now it was clearly a bit of a strain to use the cloak together—Hermione could even feel their stiffness and slight trembling.
I do not know how long it has been.
It may have only been a few seconds, but to the three of them it felt like an eternity—as the wind stopped, all the pressure vanished instantly.
When the chirping of insects began, the deep darkness replaced the day, and moonlight shone on the wall in front of them, they finally realized—they had successfully traveled through time.
"Merlin's socks... We actually did it!"
Ron's voice was filled with shock and excitement.
"Put on your invisibility cloaks—we might run into the professor and 'me' at any moment. Let's go to the prize room! Use the secret passage there to get to Hogsmeade Village—we should have gone there from the start."
“Then we won’t be able to observe the change of time, buddy—let’s go, it won’t take much effort.”
"Hide your voice and form!"
Hermione waved her wand, shutting out the three people's voices within her cloak—this spell also had the effect of erasing traces and concealing one's presence, but the latter was clearly less effective in front of the person they were about to face.
They slowly made their way to the prize display room—once they left the hall, their movements finally quickened.
According to Harry, he and Professor Levy would leave from the Great Hall, but since they haven't appeared yet, it means they acted much earlier.
Once they arrived at the prize display room, they used the code Sirius Black had given them to open the secret passage and entered it.
"Haha! This is so exciting! Harry, we're on an adventure just like Sirius once said!"
Once inside the secret passage, Ron breathed a sigh of relief and immediately burst into laughter—thankfully, he hadn't forgotten to keep himself hidden inside his cloak, or Hermione would have argued with him.
“I think so too, buddy.”
A smile crept across Harry's lips, and he tightened his grip on Hermione's clothes.
"When did you use this secret passage? Why didn't you tell me?"
Hermione looked at the two of them with an unfriendly expression.
"Uh"
