"was it Tobias?"

When Maria heard about it, she instantly froze! Why would Jake knew about it? Then she remembered seeing Jake sometimes on Tobias company.

She thought that they're friends, but was it more than that?! Maria calmed her self and collected her emotions.

"how'd you know?"

"I'm kinda observed it before that he was kinda possessive towards you and he even scolded me for texting you."

Jake explained to her slowly.

Maria hesitated for a bit, but told him the truth shyly.

"yes"

"do you love him?"

Maria think that the question was too much for him to ask but she decided to tell him the whole truth. Besides, he was there when she and her babies needed help the most!

"yes, I do love him but I guess he doesn't love me back. He just wanted me beside him because of our children. I love him so much! But he said he love someone else."

Maria speak sadly, she felt her eyes became wet and her tears started to fell one by one.

"I thought it was enough that he was just beside me, excluding the fact that he didn't love me. The important thing was that he's with me. But Tobias kept something from me! I felt betrayed! That's why I left him, how can I be with him if he kept on keeping secrets from me?"

Maria felt devastated and she cried even harder. Feeling the bitterness inside her heart.

"sshhh, I'm sorry I shouldn't asked you that. Hushed now, its bad for your health."

Jake comforted her by holding her shaking hands.

"I wanted to heard his explanations but I was too hurt right now."

"I understand you, but what if he has his reasons why he did that? Maybe he was going to tell you but he was afraid that you will get mad at him? What if he loves you but don't have the courage to tell you?"

Jake told her the WHAT IF'S behind Tobias actions.

Maria kept silent, thinking hardly about what Jake told her.

Jake on the other hand was feeling broken. He tries hard to control his emotions and every time he talked, he felt a knife stabbing his heart deeply.

He needed to do this. He needed to be the bigger man, he can't stand being with Maria if he knew that she love someone else!
