Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chleo and Ashley felt relatively safe in the cave where Yuna's Vectis lived for the past three days. The kind-hearted Vectis told them he would be back in three days and today was the day of Vectis's return. He should be back hours ago, but Vectis hadn't appeared until now.

Luckily, the two girls' appetites weren't as big as an average person's, so they could apportion what should have been three days of food into four to five days.

But on the fifth day, the food supplies had run out while the flint supply had also been used up. All that remained were three fire stones for lighting in the cave at night. Once the flint was used up, the room around them would be pitch black, and they couldn't see anything.

After waiting for almost a week and Yuna's Vectis still not showing up, they couldn't help but feel restless and anxious.

"Do you think something happened to that creature? What if other Vectis caught him, and he couldn't make it?"

"Hhhh…" Chleo breathed heavily at her best friend's pessimistic opinion. "Who knows. I hope he's okay."

"What should we do now? Sooner or later, we have to get out of this place."

"That's true, but isn't it unsafe for us to go out?"

"We will starve to death if we stay here. Instead of dying in silence here, we'd better fight out there first. At least we can hide as soon as we see another Vectis."

Chleo bit her nails while pondering what Ashley had said.

It was true. If they continued to stay here without food supplies, they would become weak and eventually starve to death. But… isn't being outside this cave much more dangerous?

What if they get caught by another Vectis, and they are killed on the spot?

Ugh!

Chleo hoped that Vectis would be fine and come back soon.

"I think we'd better wait until we don't have any other choice. There's some leftover, and we could survive for some more days. Who knows the Vectis will return when we get out." Ashley agreed with Chleo's proposal.

They decided to lie back down on the thatched bed and talk. This was what they have been doing this week. Eat, sleep while talking and then cook for their daily meals.

They were unbelievably bored and could hardly bear to stay in this dimly lit room. If they had not remembered that their lives were at stake in this place, they would have come out of this cave long ago.

They both have an adventurous spirit, so they would always be interested in exploring new places. Moreover, they were in another world where the inhabitants were not human.

Their whole bodies were itching to wander outside to see what the world the Vectis lived in was like. Yet they knew they would surely die as soon as the evil Vectis caught them. That's why they forced themselves to stay behind and wait for Yuna's Vectis to return.

Well, there's a bright side to their hopeless situation. The girls got to know each other better and became closer.

Unexpectedly they had many things in common such as those who like to travel and love the ocean. They would both go straight to the beach as soon as summer arrived and build their highest sandcastle.

They had no idea that their likes and hobbies were so similar. If they had known about this from the start, they might have been friends since their first encounter.

Suddenly there was a sound like someone kicking a can into a trash container making the two of them instantly fall silent and become alert. The sound came from the direction of the entrance to this cave.

Is Yuna's Vectis has returned?

"Is he coming back?" Ashley asked Chleo in a whisper.

"Who knows." Chleo also whispered as she doubted that the approaching sound was the kind-hearted Vectis's footsteps.

Chleo pulled Ashley to lead her up from the rock where she was lying and then moved towards the corner to hide.

There wouldn't be a problem if it's Yuna's Vectis, but what if it turns out to be another Vectis? Or worse, the evil one? They would just expose their existence and be taken directly to execution.

Chleo didn't want to take that risk, so she chose to hide first.

Unfortunately, Chleo had forgotten the most important thing. All Vectis could harness the natural energy around them.

In just one move, all the candles on each path lit up with a blazing fire. The previously pitch dark cave now suddenly became bright like there were dozens of lights in a small room.

Chleo and Ashley shortly squinted because the light that suddenly appeared was too dazzling for their eyes that had not seen bright light for a long time.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

The sound of footsteps getting louder and louder made their hearts pound wildly.

Why would this Vectis light the candles? The girls felt safer if the room was dark. But now that the place around them was as bright as a meadow under the scorching sun, they doubted that their bodies could hide behind a rock that was only their height.

They could only hope that it was Yuna's. Otherwise… no one knew what their fate would be.

Unknowingly their hands gripped each other as someone's footsteps stopped in the middle of the room. They both held their breath and started to feel their backs breaking out in cold sweat.

Chleo bit her lip until she felt the iron taste on her tongue. She didn't know which was scarier—being in the current situation or falling from the rooftop of her father's company building.

It seemed… both of them were equally frightening to her.

Crack! Crack!

What sound is that?

Chleo and Ashley looked at each other when they heard a strange sound nearby.

They started to panic even more, thinking that maybe this Vectis that came was not Vectis Yuna.

And it turned out…

Boom!!

"AAAAAAAAAA!!!"

The rock they had been hiding in shattered to pieces exposing their two petite figures.
