Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 265 - Ch. 265 Chleo's Explanation

Chleo went straight headed to the place according to her brother's instructions. Fortunately, Maximillian did not teleport out of town or abroad. At least, Chleo didn't have to take a plane or a train which would take hours.

Chleo looked at the hotel in front of her in amazement.

Why is this man staying at this hotel when he owns a mansion in New York City?

Chleo didn't think much of the answer and headed straight for the receptionist.

"Good afternoon. Is there a person named Maximillian staying here?"

"My apology, but we can't tell you due to the privacy rights for our customers."

"I understand. Thank you."

The receptionist smiled back, and Chleo walked away to call her brother.

The only one she could rely on in her current state was her brother.

"What do you want me to do?!" hollered Diego, unable to believe what he had just heard.

"Diego, you have ears. You've heard me."

"..." there was no response for a while on the other side.

"Diego?"

"Sis, what exactly happened? First, you asked me to track him down, and now you want me to hack hotel security to find his room? What is this? You can contact him directly."

"I wouldn't have asked for your help if he had picked up the phone."

"What? He turned off the phone?" the angry tone in her brother's voice made Chleo rush to explain what happened before her brother came to the wrong conclusion.

Diego's brow furrowed at his sister's explanation of meeting Alexis secretly without telling Maximillian. And now she was caught red-handed, and Max avoided her.

"Chleo, if you weren't my sister, I would definitely side with Max. Why didn't you tell him? I'm sure he'll understand if you explained it nicely."

Chleo bit her lip at the sarcasm of her brother. Her other self had scolded her all the way to this hotel and couldn't stop mocking her for hiding such an essential thing from Max.

Chleo took a deep breath then spoke again, "So are you going to help me or not?"

"I will help you. Just get in the elevator, and I'll make you go up to Max's floor."

"Thank you, Diego."

Diego shook his head as he finished talking to his sister. In his previous life, Diego hated the blue king so much that he was sure he would never be able to accept Max into his family.

But now, he felt sympathy and pity for Max.

Now, coupled with his sister's doubtful attitude and the impression of wanting to return to Alexis, Diego felt even more sympathetic to Max.

It seemed that he pampered Chleo too much so that his sister could do whatever she wanted without caring about other people's feelings.

Should he teach his sister a lesson?

Diego smiled lopsidedly, thinking about the naughty idea that suddenly popped into his head.

Chleo, who had absolutely no idea of the naughty plans her brother was contemplating for her, entered the elevator with her heart beating fast.

What should she do when she meets Max? She honestly didn't know how to explain this misunderstanding to the man.

She was afraid; the more she explained, the more likely her words would hurt the man.

Not long after, the elevator doors opened, and Chleo walked out of the elevator only to see that there was only one room door there.

After taking back and forth breaths, Chleo finally pressed the button for the bell and waited patiently.

Not long after, the door opened, and the owner of a pair of beautiful ocean-like blue eyes appeared. However, those blue eyes weren't as bright as usual, making Chleo feel guilty.

"Chleo? Why are you here?"

Chleo felt her heartache when she heard that question. Indeed, did she need a reason to meet that man? Why did the man seem not to expect her presence?

"May I come in?"

Max opened the door wide to let Chleo in. Max motioned for Chleo to sit down while he got her a fruit juice drink.

After that, Max sat on the sofa some distance away from Chleo, making Chleo's heart feel even more troubled.

She knew he was creating an invisible gulf between them, but at least he never avoided her. Max would always sit next to her and hold her hand.

But Max didn't hold her hand and sat on another couch even though there was a lot of space next to Chleo's spot.

"Max, I have something to explain. I just met Alexis, and I don't want you to misunderstand. I met him because I wanted to end my feelings. We don't have any bond you're thinking, and now we're just friends."

Friend? The bond between a man and a woman could never be ordinary friends. One would have a thing for the other.

It was clear that Max didn't believe Chleo's explanation.

"You don't believe me?"

"Is it important? I guess you don't care whether I believe you or not."

"Max, I…"

"I'm sorry. I want to be alone. You can stay here if you want."

Max got up and walked quickly into his room. Chleo followed suit as she didn't want them to fight like this. It hurt her heart to accept her lover's indifferent attitude.

She was used to receiving more attention from the man. Even though she felt that there was a gap between them, the man always took care of her every need and comfort.

Now that Max was giving a cold shoulder and indifferent towards her, Chleo felt sad, disappointed, and hurt.

Was this how her husband felt when she was cold to him?

Oh, Max, how much have I hurt you? Chleo felt a pool of water gather in her eyes.

And tears came to her eyes when she opened the door to the room where Max was going, but the man wasn't there.

At a time like this, she hoped the man she loved wasn't the blue king. If the man teleported to a place she couldn't go, what could she do?
