Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 266 - Ch. 266 Katie And Chleo

The following day, Chleo had no intention of getting out of bed.

Last night she didn't come home, neither did she stay in the penthouse.

If she was sleeping in the penthouse, she didn't know when she would stop crying while waiting for the man to come home.

That's when her Uncle Kinsey reached her. He said his family had arrived in New York because Kinsey missed his sister and wanted to see all of them.

But when Kinsey detected a dispirited voice from Chleo's voice, Kinsey offered her to stay with his family in case Chleo didn't want to go home.

Here she was, sleeping in the guest room at Kinsey Alvianc's residence.

Kinsey was a kind and loving uncle. The nice man understood she needed some alone time and offered a place to calm her heart and not ask too many questions.

Chleo felt grateful that she met the Alvianc family in this life. In her previous life, she had no memory of what her uncle looked like, nor had she ever felt the affection of that man.

In her previous life, that man was gone, and she didn't have any cousins like Kendrich or Melodie.

That's why she felt happy spending time with this family and felt at ease staying in this house.

Chleo was still reluctant to get up from her soft bed when the door to her room was gently knocked and opened.

"Sister Chleo?"

Chleo smiled at the shallow voice that was almost a whisper but sounded very sweet to her ears.

Chleo pretended not to hear the child and continued to sleep.

"Chleooo," called the voice again but a little louder. Still, her voice wasn't loud enough, according to Chleo. "Sister Chleeeeoooooo."

It was only after hearing a melodious and quite loud voice that Chleo moved to stretch her body as if she had just woken up.

"Morning, Mel. I haven't heard your voice in a long time," Chleo laughed amusedly, seeing Melodie pout her lips.

Katleen, the mother, deliberately asked Meli to wake Chleo up to have breakfast together.

Katie didn't know what had happened to Chleo, but when the girl came to this house with a gloomy face, Katie couldn't bear to wake her up because she knew Chleo couldn't sleep well.

She hoped that her daughter's voice wouldn't disturb Chleo's sleep at the same time; Chleo might have a new spirit to wake up to when she heard Melodie's voice.

As Katie had expected, Chleo felt a much better mood when she heard the sweet voice of her cousin, who was known to be the most stingy in her voice.

No. Not only because of Melodie's voice, but Chleo felt the lump that covered her feelings evaporate instantly when she saw the four smiles that greeted her that morning.

Uncle Kinsey, Aunt Kitty, Kendrich, and Melodie. These four individuals were not present in her previous life but appeared in this life.

The four of them were a family that Chleo loved dearly, and she would not trade them for anything to have the life she had now.

Chleo was relieved that Max asked for a twenty-year reversal. She was happy that her favorite uncle was still alive and now lives happily with his new family.

The thought that she could meet Kinsey made her miss her husband even more.

Oh, how much has that man done for her happiness, but she was too blind to see it.

Unknowingly, tears again filled her eyes, making Kinsey and others shocked and worried.

"Chleo, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"

Chleo shook her head to reassure them that she was okay while trying to stop her tears. However, her tears had a plan of their own as they still flowed out of her eyes.

"Come with me, dear." Katie took Chleo in her arms and pulled her out onto the balcony where she could have a one-on-one conversation with Chleo.

"Daddy, did something happen to sister Chleo?" Kendrich asked his father curiously and worriedly.

"She will be fine. Let's have breakfast."

On the balcony, Katie put her arm around Chleo's shoulder while letting the teenage girl vent all of her emotions.

Katie gently patted her husband's niece on the shoulder with patience and great care, hoping her pats would soothe Chleo's troubled heart.

Chleo let her head rest on Katie's shoulder and slowly began to cry.

"Aunt Katie,"

"Hm?"

"I heard that having a romantic relationship with a ruler nature was never easy. Is it true?"

"Are you talking about Maximillian?"

Chleo straightened up to look straight at her aunt. "You know?"

"Your father told your uncle, and your uncle told me. I think almost all of the senior members knew Maximillian's true identity. Don't worry, your lover's secret identity is safe with us, just like when they kept mine a secret." Katie explained to lessen the worry that graced Chleo's face.

"I wish Max was just a human."

"Kinsey used to say she wished I wasn't the red queen."

Chleo glared wide at this confession. Her uncle ever said that?

"Then I asked him if we could rewind the time, would he still fall in love with me? You know what his answer is?" Chleo shook her head and looked at her curiously, waiting for the continuation. "He said he would still fall in love with me."

"Why? Why would he fall in love with you even though he didn't want to have anything with a ruler?"

"I also asked him the same thing."

"Then what's the answer?"

"If I told you, that would be called cheating?"

"Cheating?"

"You're confused about your own feelings, aren't you? Let's say you're taking a math test and you don't know the answer. Asking your teacher or cheating is a quick and efficient solution, but you won't understand how to achieve that result. You have to look for it yourself and find the answer."

Chleo took a deep breath hearing this. In the end, she didn't know what was wrestling in her heart. She knew what he wanted, but she didn't know how to break the chasm between her and Max.

Chleo knew she loved him, she knew her heart wanted him, but she didn't know what made him limit their intimate relationship.

And now, when there was a misunderstanding due to her own fault, the man couldn't believe her explanation at all.

Chleo was still brooding, trying to find the answer to this 'test' when a song rang out from Katie's bracelet.

The bracelet was a sophisticated communication tool, so Katie didn't need to carry her phone everywhere and was only required to wear the bracelet.

Katie pressed one of the buttons on the bracelet, and then a bluish glow like a hologram formed Cathy's face.

"Morning Kitty, is my daughter at your place?"

"Morning, and yes, she is." Katie changed her hand position in front of Chleo so that her wristband camera captured Chleo's face to connect to her communication device.

"Mom, I'm sorry I didn't come home last night."

"No problem, sweetheart. The important thing is that you told us beforehand. But, did you fight with Maximillian?"

"Ah, that…"

"I heard Maximillian is at the airport right now."

Wh... What?

"Looks like he's going back to England this time."

Suddenly Chleo's entire nervous system went limp when she heard her mother's last words.

Maximillian will return to England? Does that mean the man will leave her?
