Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star

Chapter 86 - Ch. 86 No Wall In Between Them

Maximillian cleared his throat a few times before deciding to speak first.

"Are you hungry? I think it's time for us to find lunch."

Chleo was surprised to hear the young man's voice.

"Oh, yes. I think so." after realizing her feelings, Chleo became unable to calm down.

She was more conscious about the young man, and her heart never stopped making her feel nervous.

"Do you have any good place recommendations?" Max was clueless about Chleo's current feelings and asked as if asking someone 'what time is it?'

"Hm... what kind of food do you prefer?"

"I'm not very picky." was his simple answer while shrugging his shoulders to reassure Chleo that he was not a picky eater.

"How about seafood dishes? In this area, there is a restaurant that serves the best crab." Chleo has often eaten there with Evie, and indeed the seafood there was excellent.

That's why she was very confident in inviting the young man to eat there because she was sure of the taste of the food there.

"Okay."

As soon as they arrived at the restaurant Chleo referred to; the two immediately ordered their food. After the waitress took down the names of their orders, Chleo apologized to the young man for making him wait longer than he should have.

"Forgive me. It looks like I kept you waiting."

"There's no need to worry about that. So is everything okay? Wasn't yesterday your friends ran you over?" Max knew what Chleo had been through, but he acted like he didn't know anything.

After all, Chleo had no idea that he was the blue king and had sent Falcon to watch her from a distance. Therefore he acted obliviously but still wanted to confirm the girl's condition.

"Oh, that. Everything's in order. There seems to be a misunderstanding between us. But it's all over."

"That's good to hear."

For the umpteenth time, Chleo seemed to catch her breath when she saw Max's satisfied smile. Why did she feel like he was worried about her and now feel relieved that she was okay?

Then suddenly, she remembered something.

"But…how did you get into my class yesterday?"

"..." Max deliberately didn't answer right away and only gave Chleo a faint smile.

In Chleo's eyes, Max seemed to give off a mysterious impression and deliberately delayed his answer. But in truth, Max was looking for a plausible reason for his sudden appearance.

There's no way he'd say he came to campus on purpose just to see her, right?

"Dietrich told me he needed a new designer. I thought I could see an aspiring designer at Seattle University so that I could recommend one. Thus, I came there yesterday when I happened to be near your class." his words were spoken so smoothly that Chleo immediately believed him without suspicion.

"Ah, I see. I heard Dietrich's family own a jewelry business here."

"That's right."

"Is the company legally licensed?"

Max's eyebrows rose at this question. He wondered why Chleo was interested in his company's license.

"It should be. Why do you ask?"

"I'm just wondering if they accept interns or not."

"Intern? Why?"

"Actually..."

Then Chleo told him that she wanted to use this winter break by working as an intern at a company. The goal was not only to gain experience but also to complete the final semester assignment, which was one of the graduation requirements.

Unfortunately, all the companies in this state decided not to hire her because of her father's intervene. Nevertheless, Chleo didn't tell Max about the ban proclamation. She still wanted to hide her identity.

"Why don't you try contacting Dietrich? Maybe he can help you." Max suggested.

"Ah, I thought so too. But I feel a bit hesitant. I've only met him a few times."

"But you felt no hesitation about me. We've only met a few times, too."

Chleo's cheeks reddened hearing this.

What Max said was true. How strange, how could Chleo be able to pour out her heart freely like this? There was absolutely no hesitation nor reluctance whenever she spoke to this young man.

"Hahahaha," Chleo laughed nervously while rubbing the nape of her neck, "I don't know why either. I don't think I need to be bashful with you. You must think I'm weird, don't you?"

"No. I feel the same way as you."

"You do?" Chleo couldn't believe her ears at all.

"I just feel like we've met before. Like an old acquaintance who hadn't seen each other in years. Aren't I even weirder?"

Chleo chuckled at that. "You are very good at talking. You must have a lot of fans." Chleo immediately regretted her sentence. Somehow she became afraid to hear the answer.

What if it turns out that Max does have a lot of fans? What if it turns out that this young man already has a girlfriend?

"Not really," Max answered, making Chleo sighed in relief. "I'm not a social person. I don't like crowds."

"It's a shame. The crowd is festive and enjoyable. For example, like a festival, a carnival, or a parade in the streets, we can see various things by attending each event."

Max only responded with a smile. He had seen the show too many times, both through his own eyes or through Falcon's.

When he was still learning to master his powers, he would often lose control whenever he was in a crowd. Many people were jostling, or some girls were desperate to touch him. He went out of control and unleashed the power that made the streets freeze, and several people around him fainted.

Since then, he has stayed away from the crowds and rarely appears at gala events for the superclass. He didn't want to be bothered with official marriage proposals for him, or his castle would be crowded with officials visit just to get in touch with him.

Even now, even though he could control his powers perfectly, he still didn't like crowds. Maybe, because he had been used to avoiding crowds for years, Max had gotten used to it and was no longer interested in joining a festive atmosphere like a festival or something.

"Then what is your favorite thing?" Chleo asked, stirring Max's mind.

"Hm…" Max gave a faint smile as he answered his question. "It's only a few to my liking. One of them is the sea. I'd rather live on the sea than on land."

"Seriously?" Chleo's eyes sparkled. "Have you ever lived on the sea? What does it feel like? Do you have a ship or a house on the sea? Ah, that must be so much fun. You can swim as much as you want whenever you want."

Max chuckled at the enthusiasm in Chleo's voice.

"You like the sea too?"

"Of course. Believe it or not, I used to dive riding a whale when I was a kid. I also swam with dolphins and saw all kinds of unique plants under the sea."

"That's hard to believe. I might believe you were swimming with the dolphins, but riding a whale in the sea… It was something impossible to do. Unless you do it in the arena, maybe I'll believe it."

The only one who could ride whales in the ocean and other wild mammals was the blue king. Unless humans already caught and trained whales for a show, the story of Chleo's childhood experiences didn't make much sense.

"But I'm not lying. I really ride it. At that time, there was Ice Prince who accompanied me. He's the one who summoned the whale and invited me to roam under the sea with him."

Here she is. Her bad habit was back. If she's getting too enthusiastic, she will blabber something she shouldn't say.

"Ice prince?" somehow, Max became more interested in hearing the story of the girl's childhood experiences.

"He is the one who once saved me. I don't quite remember what he saved me from. He was my savior anyway."

"Okay, I understand. He was your savior. But why do you call him the ice prince?"

"That's because his body temperature is very cold. It was not the winter season, and the weather was also quite hot because the sun was shining brightly. But his body temperature was as cold as ice. He told me he was the only person who has a cold temperature in this world. Isn't he mysterious?"

"..."

In this world? The only person who had an icy cold body temperature was only him. Could it be that the ice prince Chleo was referring to was him? Max couldn't help but ponder about this.

If the savior Chleo spoke of was indeed him, why he couldn't remember? Max closed his eyes, trying to dig up his lost memories.

For the first time since he woke up four years ago, he wanted to get his memories back quickly.

He tried to break through the obstacles that tried to keep him from his memory until his head was attacked by excruciating pain. It felt like thousands of needles were stabbing into his head and trying to dissect his brain.

His brows furrowed in pain as his hands clenched into strong fists. Unbeknownst to him, his lips turned white, and his expression turned pale.

"Max? Max!"
