Ice Prince: Rewrite The Star
Chapter 90 - Ch. 90 Diego And Max
The next day Diego sat in the living room watching his sister's movements with a probing gaze. Chleo also felt her brother's sharp look, but she didn't care.
It was the first time she had been interested in a guy so much. That's why this time, she wasn't going to let her brother get in the way of her meeting Max.
"If you're hungry, there's pasta in the fridge. There's also roast beef if that's not enough. I'll call Evie to accompany you…."
"I'm not a child. I can find my feed. But if you're still worried, how about I come with you?"
Usually, if Diego asked to come along, no matter who or where Chleo was going, Chleo would let him tag along.
"It will be boring for you. I went for a job interview."
"I won't. Can I come?"
"..."
Diego frowned, starting to dislike what his sister would answer. As far as he remembered, Chleo would never hesitate to let him come along with her.
"Okay. But I want you to promise me."
"What promise?"
"Behave."
"…"
"And also don't prank him like you did to my friends. Don't embarrass him, and most of all… don't make him hate me. Okay?"
"..." For a moment, Diego did not answer her.
Isn't this the first time Chleo asked him not to prank on her friends?
"Sis, you really like that guy, huh?"
Chleo didn't expect to hear her brother's direct inquiry, and she didn't know how to answer it.
What will Diego do if she admits that she likes Max?
"What would you do if I do?"
"..." Even though Chleo didn't answer his question directly, he already knew the answer. His sister indeed liked the young man. No. It seemed that this time, Chleo had fallen in love.
It was all proven when he saw Chleo's current appearance. A simple, beautiful winter dress combined with an elegant white coat. The natural make-up that adorns her face and the hair clipped make Chleo look prettier than usual.
Her current appearance was even lovelier than when Alexis asked her out.
Diego sighed in resignation.
"What can I do? So can I come or not? I promise I won't do anything. I just want to get to know him. Can I?"
After thinking for a while, Chleo finally agreed. She hoped that Diego kept his word and that Max didn't mind her brother coming tag along.
Nevertheless, Chleo still prioritizes her family. If Max couldn't treat Diego like his own brother, Chleo should think twice about giving him her heart.
Therefore, Chleo never seriously gave her heart to just anyone. If they couldn't be patient nor love her family as much as they loved their own, Chleo would turn a blind eye to them. Of course, Chleo would also love her partner's family as much as she loves her family.
At precisely nine forty, the Regnz siblings were ready and just waiting for Max to arrive.
Not long after that, Chleo got a message that Max had arrived at the front of the house. An enthusiastic and happy expression was visible on Chleo's face, making Diego sigh for the umpteenth time.
Chleo greeted Max first and walked over to the young man with cheerful steps.
"Good morning Max. My brother wants to come along, do you mind?"
"Of course not," was his answer without any hesitation.
Chleo breathed a sigh of relief to see that Max didn't mind her brother coming with them at all.
During the trip, most of do the talking were Max and Chleo. But with the occasional attentiveness, Max would talk to Diego. Since Diego had promised his sister to behave, he tried his best not to be cynical about this young man. Even so, he still refused to speak further with this stranger.
Once arrived at the Daphne Fashion company, Chleo was taken by one of the receptionists to meet the HRD who would interview her. On the other hand, Max took Diego to the cafe on the third floor of the company building.
Inevitably Diego obeyed and was forced to sit at the table with Max. The keyword 'forced.' If the cafe weren't occupied, Diego would have chosen to sit at a different table.
"How old are you?" Max tried to start the conversation first.
"Sixteen."
"You study here?"
"No."
Max was still interacting, completely ignoring Diego's short and mumbling answer.
"I would like to meet your parents sometimes."
Diego frowned in confusion hearing this. What does this have to do with their casual interactions with their parents?
"You two are wonderful kids."
"Why do you think so?"
"I can see that you cherish your sister very much. You will protect your sister and defend her no matter what your sister does. I can also see Chleo will do the same with you. It's very rare to find siblings who get along and cherish each other in this world." especially among the super high class. "I envy you. I don't have a sibling like that. Even if I do, he's envious of me."
"…" Why is their conversation so heavy? Diego complained in his heart. If this was the way it was, how could he continue to be so cynical?
Although he didn't like this newcomer, Diego wasn't so heartless that he couldn't sympathize.
What Max said was true. The richer a family is, the more powerful a person is, the possibility of disputes and inheritance struggle was huge.
After all, humans in this world are greedy humans. One example came from his mother's family and also the Heinest nobles in Prussia.
Most of the reasons for fighting and also bloodshed were just because they want to take the throne. Thus, it was very rare to find a pair of siblings living in harmony and filled with love.
Maybe in this world, the only family that teaches to live with love is only the father and mother's family.
No matter how much Diego disliked a foreign man who approached his sister, Diego couldn't help but sympathize with the person who was now wearing a sad and regretful expression.
For some reason, Diego felt that this person was not acting and had a problematic past.
"I think we are lucky to be born as our parents' children. Otherwise, maybe Chleo and I wouldn't be able to live like this."
Max smiled softly at his words. This seemed to be Diego's longest sentence since Max opened the conversation with him.
Diego himself was no longer so cynical about Max. Instead, he started to open up a little to him.
Ugh! It's really hard to hate this pale-skin guy. This man was terrifying. Scarier than Alexis, who took almost two years to get his blessing.
And that too... this guy succeed in melting his sister's almost steeled heart.
It was the first time she had been interested in a guy so much. That's why this time, she wasn't going to let her brother get in the way of her meeting Max.
