American comics: From Hogwarts to God on Earth

Chapter 22: Let's not talk about the Order of Merlin yet; it seems like someone from next door

In the DC universe, Rune has basically taken care of everything, but at Hogwarts, he still has a lot to learn. During the day, he has to read the reference books that Professor McGonagall requires, and at night he has to read the forbidden books that he has stolen.

The former mainly deals with the shrinking and enlarging of puppets, including various precautions and the advantages and disadvantages of different spells. It was after reading these books that Rune realized the profoundness of puppets. However, it was not as difficult as he had imagined. The technique of making puppets after injecting his will was already the most difficult part.

However, the things recorded in those forbidden books, especially the book "The Mysteries of the Human Body - Flesh and Blood Modification Techniques," were extremely evil. The first three pages made Rune completely give up on the book. The witchcraft recorded in it was quite dangerous. It not only required a large number of corpses to practice on, but also required the daily supply of blood as a culture dish to produce a special kind of tiny organism.

Rune suspected that these tiny organisms were a special kind of bacteria. It's safe to say there was a reason this book was listed in the restricted section.

Ancient spells are equally dangerous, but their danger lies in their difficulty to control, the high requirements for individual magical power, and the need to learn ancient runes to get started. However, after Rune fused with superhuman blood, his magical power increased rapidly, and he was worried that the output limit of ordinary spells was too low.

In addition, Snape also asked Rune to write a speech about receiving the Order of Merlin and submit it to him for review. Every moment Rune spent at Hogwarts was precious and could not be wasted. The Slytherins felt this most deeply. Except for Edward, who shared a dormitory with Rune, the other Slytherins breathed a sigh of relief and sincerely hoped that he would stay in his dormitory forever and never come out again.

So, three days before the Merlin Medal award ceremony, Rune handed his acceptance speech to Snape. Snape took it and flipped through it casually. In his opinion, acceptance speeches were all the same and nothing special. If Dumbledore hadn't asked him to help Rune, Snape wouldn't have even given it a second glance.

However, as he read the beginning of the second page, Snape sat up straight, frowned, and carefully read the acceptance speech. After finishing it, he read it again from the beginning to make sure he hadn't misunderstood Rune's meaning.

After reading it a second time, Snape took a deep breath and looked at Rune, whose gloomy face was now scrunched up, his brows, which looked as if they had been cut open, could easily fit a few Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans.

"Are you sure you want to reveal the recipe for the brown sugar ginger tea potion and the source of your inspiration?" Snape asked solemnly. "If your source of inspiration is really as ancient as you say, then you can find a potion from it that you could never finish making in your lifetime, and your descendants can easily obtain the Order of Merlin through it."

"Of course." Rune nodded.

Are you kidding me? Why did he even try making brown sugar ginger tea in the first place? Wasn't it because other worlds might not have the ingredients required for potion recipes? Unicorn hair is one thing, but how are world-specific materials like Bowtruckle roots and Groundbat hair obtained in the DC universe?

If he could refine potions step by step, even if the raw materials were a bit expensive, Rune would accept it. Who wouldn't want to work with an empty mind, just following the steps directly?

"Very good." A smile actually appeared on Snape's face. "As expected of my student, Rune. Your discovery will revolutionize potions. This ancient technique will finally be integrated into emerging theories. In this respect, I am inferior to you. From now on, even those ubiquitous materials will be valued."

He stood up happily and excitedly circled around, while Rune stared blankly at him, stunned by Snape's smile and momentarily unable to react.

Snape kept pondering the last sentence Rune wrote: "Well said, very well said, everything can be a potion."

This phrase is, of course, taken from the concept of medicinal cuisine. Rune also hopes to promote this concept so that more potion makers can study it, thus enabling him to obtain more potion recipes with relatively easy-to-obtain materials, which is the most important thing.

Anyway, he can't live in this world forever, and Galleons and Merlin's Medal are not as important to Rune as a bowl of ice cream.

After leaving Snape's office, Rune immediately went to practice ancient magic. He wisely chose the Room of Requirement and lit up the entire room when he first practiced the ancient magic version of the Glowing Charm. Considering that the Room of Requirement had created an acre-sized dark environment in order to practice the spell, ancient magic was indeed very powerful and difficult to control.

After waking up, Rune continued to use magic to do housework and cook as usual. In the past few days, Jonathan and Martha did not force him to call them father or mother, but treated him as a relatively independent person. Therefore, Rune got along very well with them, and Martha would occasionally choose to cook for herself.

In Martha's words, she sometimes misses the feeling of being needed.

Rune took care of all the indoor cleaning, so the farm work naturally fell to Clark and Jonathan. Even Clark felt exhausted by the endless farm work, especially since Jonathan didn't want him to use his superpowers for farm work.

"If only Dad would let me use my superpowers to do farm work too." Clark slumped in his chair. He wasn't actually tired, but he couldn't accept the long time that farm work would take. With that time, he could watch several movies or use some pocket money to go out for a bike ride.

"He's doing this for your own good." Rune transformed a piece of wood into a chess piece shaped like a king, and infused it with his own concept of a king. The chess piece instantly came to life.

"Why aren't you serving the king dinner yet?" the chess piece shouted, his voice tinged with humiliation. He clearly felt that being forced to ask for help had made him lose face.

Clark curiously approached the king's chess piece. Perhaps it was his gaze, as if looking at a rare animal, that angered the king. He swung his sword forcefully with both hands, but instead of hitting Clark, he was knocked to the ground. The poor king lay on the ground, struggling to get up.

"Wow, you have quite the temper." Clark was amused. He reached out and straightened the chess piece, casually stroking the king's long beard. "It looks just like the real thing; you can't tell it's made of wood at all."

Meanwhile, the king piece on the other side started cursing and swearing, wildly waving his sword, looking quite comical.

Suddenly, with a flash of white light, a figure dressed in a red uniform, but only with an upper body, fell onto the king piece with a thud. The piece didn't even have a chance to cry out before turning into wood chips.

"Ouch... Damn it..." The newcomer looked up, revealing his face—except for the diamond-shaped black fabric around his eyes, the rest of his face was entirely red. With each breath, his face and clothing heaved, making him look incredibly irritating. "It looks like someone really punched my little brother. Was it you?"
