American comics: From Hogwarts to God on Earth

Chapter 24 Saving Private Hugh Jackman... I mean Wolverine

"Even your cousin isn't willing to help you?"

Deadpool shook his head: "He said he had a big job to do and didn't have time to play with me, but every time I contacted him, he gave me the same excuse."

Rune's "Deadpool cousin" is naturally Deathstroke, one of the most powerful mercenaries and top assassins in the DC Universe. He is also a master of strategy and tactics, a master of combat, and a master of all weapons. His most famous feat is escaping unscathed from Superman without any Kryptonite.

As for why Deadpool calls Deathstroke his cousin, it's naturally because Deathstroke is Deadpool's source of inspiration. However, it's clear that the sarcastic Deadpool is treated much better than the calm Deathstroke.

After listening to Deadpool's words, Rune knew who he needed to contact if he wanted to go to the Marvel universe in the future.

"Alright, alright, let's hurry up and get going. My world still has..." Deadpool pried open his fingers, looked at his wrist, and suddenly slapped his forehead: "Damn it, I forgot I didn't bring my watch! Anyway, for my poor world, for the 70 billion Earthlings and who knows how many aliens, let's find Wolverine together!"

"Wait a moment," Rune said, then added after a moment's thought, "Don't drag Clark into this; his physical strength is far from what it will be in the future."

Rune then teleported to his nominal adoptive father's side.

"What's wrong, young man?" Jonathan said, his hands moving non-stop, and with a hissing sound, streams of milky white liquid splashed into the iron bucket.

"Someone invited me to save the world," Rune said, shrugging.

"Hmm?" Jonathan chuckled, looking at Rune. "You're quite the joker, aren't you?"

He looked at Rune's serious face and asked uncertainly, "Are you kidding me?"

A little while later, Rune went to say goodbye to Martha and Clark. Before leaving, he didn't forget to cast a spell on the brooms and rags so that they could do the work on their own for the next few days.

Finally, Rune returned to the forest, where Deadpool was humming a song and drawing in his notebook. Although his style was somewhat abstract, Rune could still make out that the drawing depicted Deadpool, Deathstroke, and Wolverine holding hands, with an X drawn on the face of another person.

"Who is that person who was crossed out?"

"Ugh! Holy..." Deadpool finally turned around, complaining, "Couldn't you have told me beforehand?"

As he spoke, Deadpool put his hand on Rune's shoulder, and in an instant, Rune found himself in an unfamiliar place.

"Ha, now you know how nasty a surprise attack is, right?" Deadpool dropped his sketchbook and fired a few shots at it. The gunshots attracted the attention of a burly man with a thick beard, a missing left hand, and a fierce expression; he didn't look like someone to mess with.

"Not bad." Rune didn't seem to care, but instead pointed to the burly man over there: "Is this the Wolverine you're looking for?"

Before Deadpool could respond, the burly man lunged forward. His target was Deadpool, who had fired the gun, but before he could get halfway there, he was locked in place by branches growing from the ground. Of course, this did not stop him. The one-handed burly man swung his right hand and cut the branches in half, but Rune had not intended to trap him in the first place.

"Not this one." Deadpool sighed, then took out his microcomputer and switched worlds.

The place they landed at was a casino. The people inside were dressed in a respectable manner, but Rune could still smell the sinful atmosphere.

"Is the Wolverine you're looking for in here?" Rune narrowed his eyes and began to extract souls one by one.

"Yeah, what's up?" Deadpool was about to go find Wolverine when Rune stopped him. He turned to look at Rune and nodded, "Oh... I know what you want to do. Let me see how many people here deserve to die first."

Then Deadpool pulled out a palm-sized gold flip phone.

"Hmm, sex for power... murder and arson... aiding and abetting evil..." After some investigation, Deadpool covered his eyes: "Wow, apart from Wolverine, there isn't a single human here."

A crimson burst of magical energy shot out from Rune's eyes, instantly piercing through the entire casino. Those who had been engrossed in the numerical and pattern changes suddenly found that the seats beneath them had transformed into hungry wolves, biting their buttocks hard, while the tables had turned into tigers, searching for their prey and pouncing viciously on any they caught.

After being imbued with Rune's will, these shapeshifting creatures could still move on their own even without Rune's personal control. They devoured the flesh and blood of the vile people, just as these vile people ate the lower classes.

And what about Runes?

He was looking for any powerful opponent who dared to resist, like the one before him...

"You're asking for death!" A mutant charged forward; he had wings and his hands had transformed into bird claws. Another female mutant, even more ruthless and taciturn, spread her arms and unleashed a straight beam of purple light at Rune.

Rune arrived behind him with speed far exceeding that of the birdman: "Do you know that with wings that big, it's easy to make people want to tear them off?"

He did exactly what he said he would do. This birdman used to like to grab ordinary people, fly them to a high place, and then let go of them, letting them fall to their deaths. Listening to their cries of agony before they died was his greatest pleasure.

Now Rune was experiencing the same "fun," but he didn't like it. The mutant howled as he fell to the ground, where he was targeted and torn apart by several greedy wolves. Before long, the howling stopped.

Rune turned to look at the female mutant, who was backing away in fear. She accidentally stepped on a chip, which slipped, and she fell to the ground. Several ferocious beasts were already staring at her, but they did not make a move because their leader was nearby.

"No...don't..." She shot a laser at Rune. This time Rune didn't dodge and took the hit directly. However, Rune only felt a little hot.

The next second, a red light flashed, and the head of this fairly pretty female mutant turned to ashes. She didn't have a habit of torturing people, so Rune wouldn't torture her either.

Gunshots and explosions rang out, but the bodyguards quickly realized that the shattered wolves would transform into wasps, snakes, and other creatures. Killing them once would only make them more insidious. The gunfire gradually subsided, but Rune sensed that the wolves in one spot were dying rather quickly. He looked in that direction, and the next moment, a one-eyed wolf roared and charged out. Rune subconsciously glanced at Deadpool, who was happily eating popcorn he had picked up from somewhere...

Rune sighed, then landed, grabbed Deadpool, and threw him at Wolverine. The next moment, a bloody storm erupted, mixed with angry curses. Rune, who overheard a few words, had a strange expression on his face.

This Wolverine seems to be working undercover...
