American comics: From Hogwarts to God on Earth
Chapter 44 I'll give you a condition you can't refuse.
Rune and the demon began an even more terrifying battle. The demon thought he had burned all of Rune's spellcasting materials, but he miscalculated.
The puppets that re-emerged from the earth were harder, more tenacious, and even more ferocious. They dragged the demon's arms and ankles, doing everything they could to hinder him. But the demon no longer cared about these puppets; he was now focused on dealing with Rune's offensive.
The wound stimulated the production of adrenaline, and Rune felt not only pain but also extraordinary rage, which drove him to tear apart the enemy in front of him. So he stopped trying to use his beast senses to avoid all attacks and instead only dodged the highly lethal attacks that stung his skin.
The entire battleground instantly turned into a meat grinder. Both sides possessed extraordinary strength and superhuman regenerative abilities. To say that blood and flesh were flying everywhere would be an understatement. Zatanna was still trying to cast spells, but whenever she focused her attention on the demon, she couldn't help but feel like vomiting, which temporarily caused her to lose her ability to cast spells.
As Rune used the Disarming Charm and his own physical strength to knock the greatsword away, the demon gripped Rune's hands and began to wrestle, roaring, "Who the hell are you? How can you be so strong?!"
Rune did not respond, but instead released a crimson magical shock while the demon was struggling with him. The enormous energy scorched the demon's body. The demon was not to be outdone and its whole body burst into flames in an attempt to ignite Rune, but it was blocked by the Ironclad Curse.
"Black Adam...you are Black Adam? That mad battle wizard who was given the power of the six Egyptian gods?" The demon could no longer withstand the magical shock, threw Rune away, and then questioned loudly.
Rune adjusted his body and then looked down at the demon.
"I'm not Black Adam, but I can still kill you!"
bump!
Rune punched the demon hard in the face, and the demon roared angrily, once again engaging in a fierce battle with this seemingly underage fellow.
Rune was unaware that the demon was secretly groaning. Apart from Black Adam, Shazam, Doctor Fate, and a handful of others, no one in the hundreds of years he had been in this world had ever put him in such a difficult battle. And now, he had to run into such a ruthless person. If it weren't for the fact that the friend who had entrusted him with this task was indeed powerful and had a deep enough background, he would have quit on the spot.
"Now!"
The girl not far away screamed loudly. Her beautiful face had been turned into a little cat's ashes by the grass that had just burned, and now a lot of blood was flowing from her nose—the result of her desperate use of magic.
The demon was surprised to find that his feet were covered by a huge magic circle, and he had to exert a lot of strength to move even one step. Rune threw out his trench coat, which expanded in the wind and turned into a red cloth the size of a tent that tightly wrapped around him. At this moment, countless hands reached out from the ground and grabbed the demon with all their might.
Rune took out an exquisite lighter from his pocket and poured magic into it. Soon, a dazzling cold blue light began to shine, and a dangerous aura emanated from it.
"No, no, no! I surrender, I surrender!"
A chill ran through the demon pointed at by the lighter. This terrifying energy reminded him of the ferocious beast he had faced before. If that creature represented evil and darkness, the opposite of God, and was full of blasphemy and filth, then this small lighter in front of him gave him a feeling of coldness and ruthlessness.
Rune didn't put down his lighter just because the demon surrendered; instead, he continued, "Give me a reason not to kill you!"
Then, the demon transformed back into a middle-aged man in a suit. The man sighed and said, "Listen, I have a reason why I have to take Zatanna away..."
As he spoke, the middle-aged man turned to Zatanna: "I know your father, child. If I really wanted to kill you, I would have had many chances!"
Rune also looked at Zatanna, who suddenly realized what was going on. Rune slapped his forehead, realizing after a while that Zatanna was actually an ally.
A moment later, the middle-aged man withdrew the spell that banished ordinary people and introduced himself: "Hello, I am Jason Brad, and I have been asked by a friend to come and find Zatanna."
Rune nodded. So this was the guy. No wonder he had been entangled with him for so long. Don't let his middle-aged appearance fool you; he was actually a knight from the time of King Arthur who fell in love with the famous witch Morgan le Fay. Naturally, he was almost killed by the wicked woman. It was Merlin who sealed a demon inside him, saving Jason's life. And that demon's name was Itrigan.
This guy can fight Superman in his normal state for a short time. He is a member of the future Dark Justice League. His human form is a good guy. With him restraining him, the demon inside him cannot do evil in the human world.
"Zatanna, you must leave with me immediately," Jason said to Zatanna with a stern expression.
Zatanna asked, somewhat puzzled, "Why? Is it because of my father?"
But Jason shook his head, sighed, and said, "No, if it really is about your father, then it's actually easier to put on an easier note."
Upon hearing this, Rune looked at Jason: "What could possibly make Itrigan fear you? Could it be Lucifer?"
Jason walked over to Clark, pulled a bottle of purplish-red potion from his pocket, and dripped a drop onto the unconscious Clark's tongue. He then said, "If you put it that way, you could indeed be linked to Lucifer, wizard. But I increasingly feel that you're no longer a child. Not only can you confront Itrigan head-on, but you also possess such a powerful magical artifact..."
"Perhaps you really can fight that guy."
Rune, however, was self-aware. He watched as Clark's eyelids trembled slightly, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"You've misjudged me. Anyone who can be associated with Lucifer is no match for those Unspeakable Ones."
Who is Lucifer? He is one of the strongest beings in the entire DC Universe. The giant monster is said to be one of his incarnations. He is almost omnipotent, and those who are associated with him are not easy to deal with. The easiest target among them is probably Constantine, the mobile jinx. However, if Constantine wants to do something regardless of the cost, Lucifer can usually do it too.
However, Constantine might be trying to curse his father to death right now.
"What if I said I just wanted to pester Him for a little while?" Jason asked suddenly after a moment of silence. "Just pester Him for a little while, and you'll gain Lucifer's friendship... That's a good deal, isn't it?"
