American Comics: Today's Big News

Chapter 4: An Encounter with "Spider Silk"

Since Connors' place didn't have women's clothes, Harley went out with him the next day dressed in men's clothing.

Harley Quinn looked incredibly capable in simple jeans and a white shirt.

The only problem was that the shirt was too big for her, and since she wasn't wearing anything underneath, it swayed as she walked, making Connors' spirits burst.

Thus, "the sun is high in the sky" became a verb, and by the time the two of them officially went out, it was almost noon.

In Connors's mind, the first thing he would do after joining forces with Harley Quinn was to stir up trouble.

Whether Harley Quinn intends to take revenge on the Joker or is simply enjoying the superhero gossip herself, it at least fits the identity of a time traveler.

But to everyone's surprise, the first thing the two of them did was to buy clothes.

Under Connors's deliberate or unintentional guidance, Harley Quinn donned black stockings, shorts, and a tight T-shirt, showcasing her stunning figure and attracting frequent attention from passersby on the street.

Connors shifted his gaze from the long legs encased in black stockings, and casually clicked "no" on the system in his mind. Just as he was about to drive the car belonging to the unlucky driver from last night to take a stroll near Arkham Asylum, his spider-sense suddenly issued a warning.

No, this isn't a warning...

Spider-Senses, almost instinctively, rapidly transmits information into the brain.

Unlike the danger warnings when Batman is watching you at night, the spider-sense here conveys a different message, or rather, an attraction.

"Get on the bus!"

Connors yanked open the car door and jumped in, while Harley Quinn was quick and agile, slipping in through the other window.

"Little Pa, are we about to cause a huge ruckus? I know where to get heavy firearms!"

Harley Quinn sat in the passenger seat, slightly excited; if it were a convertible, she would have stood up without hesitation.

But at this moment she could only lie half-reclined in the seat, her long legs, encased in black stockings, resting on the windshield.

"Can you get your hands on it?"

With the roar of the engine, the car sped onto the road, trailing exhaust smoke. Connors, one hand on the steering wheel, glanced curiously at Harley Quinn.

"Yeah, the Joker was able to escape Arkham because I got him guns and explosives, but he abandoned me... Little Pa, you're going in the wrong direction."

Connors nodded, understanding how the Joker escaped Arkham, but he completely ignored Harley's point that the route was wrong.

He wasn't going to Arkham Asylum or to get guns; he was going to pursue that unknown attraction he felt in his spider-sense.

call out!

Through his deliberate observation, he captured a lithe figure roaming back and forth among the tall buildings, which was the source of the attraction he sensed through spider-sense.

"Oh! Little Pa, are you pursuing that person?"

Harley noticed the figure high in the sky and immediately forgot about her earlier plan to get the guns. She even leaned halfway out of the open car window and shouted at the agile red and black figure in the air:

"Wow!"

She didn't know who the other person was, nor did she know why she was chasing him. She was just overwhelmed by the exhilarating feeling of Connors's crazy acceleration and shouted unconsciously.

Snapped!

Connors slapped Harley on the butt to get her back in her seat, then floored the gas pedal.

Before they could catch up with the person, Gotham police officers, ignoring traffic rules and speed, were already on their heels, sirens blaring.

"We'll split up later. I'll go after that guy, and you try to create some chaos, but be careful not to get caught."

After passing several intersections, Connors parked the car in a roadside parking space, pretending that he hadn't been speeding, and said to Harley Quinn in the passenger seat.

He knew that even though Harley Quinn hadn't yet undergone the subsequent changes and was no different from an ordinary person in terms of physical abilities, she was still a criminal psychology expert.

A few police officers were no match for her at all.

"And what about you? Are you going to abandon me like the Joker?" Harley Quinn asked, feigning exaggerated coyness.

"You know where I live, we'll meet on the rooftop there." Connors laughed, opened the car door, and drove off first.

For a crazy beauty like Harley Quinn, coaxing won't work; she's not some delicate little girl.

Although he didn't actually visit Arkham Asylum, Connors's goal of being a bystander was achieved thanks to the police chase behind him.

Harley Quinn went to create chaos, while she herself watched the drama unfold, and at the same time, she went to search for that figure wandering high in the sky.

Although it's just an ordinary little story, "Harley Quinn causing chaos on the streets of Gotham," it's better than nothing. We can't exactly have her carrying a baseball bat and challenging Batman to a duel right now, can we?

Harley Quinn also wanted to go with Connors to chase the mysterious man, but the current situation made it impossible for the two of them to act together, so she turned around and got into the driver's seat.

As the sirens and car roars faded into the distance, Connors looked up and found that the mysterious man was long gone, but his spider-sense was still there. So he looked around, jumped onto the stairs on the exterior wall of a building, and quickly climbed upwards.

Climbing stairs was no problem for him; he reached the rooftop in no time, only to find it deserted.

"Strange, my spider-sense is definitely here..."

Connors was puzzled for a moment, then his ankles tightened, and he was lifted up headfirst into the air.

It’s bad, I was careless!

His heart tightened, and before he could even move, his hands were bound, leaving him with no way to escape.

Even so, no danger warning appeared in the spider sensor, and Connors couldn't help but wonder if the thing was malfunctioning.

However, soon, when a woman wearing a red, gray and white bodysuit with the lower half of her face covered by a red mask appeared in his line of sight, Connors seemed to understand.

Shoulder-length short hair, a bodysuit with a spiderweb pattern, a voluptuous figure hidden beneath, a red mask...

These characteristics are not unfamiliar to Connors; in fact, they are quite familiar:

Cindy Moon, the "Spider Silk"!

The moment I saw her, I understood why my spider-sense had malfunctioned.

It wasn't a malfunction, but rather that the other party meant no harm. He had spider-sense, and Cindy had it too; the thing attracted them to each other like a magnet.

In the comics, due to the influence of the "spider-sense," spider silk and Spider-Man will spark whenever they meet.

"Hi……"

Connors wanted to say hello, but before he could even open his mouth halfway, his mouth was sealed by soft lips hidden under the spider silk mask.

"!!!"

This is exciting right from the start?! The comics really lived up to their hype!

He opened his eyes wide and looked at the face of "Spider Silk" so close to his. Unlike Harley Quinn's wild beauty, Cindy had black hair and black eyes, and was full of classical charm.
