Chapter 4 The Knife Arrives
After buying the knife, Duy met up with Bilbo and they returned to Bag End together.
On the way, Bilbo looked at the two cleavers Duy had bought and couldn't help but ask curiously, "Duy, why did you buy two cleavers? Don't we already have some at home?"
Dui held two cleavers, assuming a chopping stance. "These aren't cleavers, these are my weapons. I'll be using them to defend myself in the future!"
Bilbo opened his mouth, unable to immediately connect him with the image of a wizard.
"As long as you like it."
Seeing Bilbo's gaze, Dui's lips curled into a slight smile.
With a whoosh, the two cleavers in his hands shot out and plunged straight into an oak tree by the roadside, half of the blades embedded in the trunk.
Bilbo was instantly dumbfounded.
"Sword... oops, bring on the knife!"
The knife was pulled from the tree trunk again and flew back into his hand in an instant.
Bilbo was completely stunned.
After showing off, Du Yi left without a trace, looking every bit the wise man.
He silently wiped a bead of sweat from his brow.
The knife was stuck in too deep; it took a lot of effort to pull it out, and I almost got slapped in the face.
That was close!
Back at Bag End, Dui began a new round of training.
He began to focus on manipulating the two boning knives, trying to make them as easy to use as his own limbs.
Each of the two cleavers weighed two pounds, which was just within the limits of Dui's magical control.
To gain more precise control, he simply manipulated the cleaver to chop the wood.
In this way, although the process was difficult and he could only hold on for a short while at first, as he held on longer, Dui found it easier to control the cleaver and his speed became faster.
As a result, Dui finished preparing the firewood for the winter in Bag End early on, and there was even some left over.
Bilbo was delighted by this.
After all, while hobbits love life, they are not lazy; stockpiling firewood before winter is a daunting task.
I'm naturally very happy that it's been completed ahead of schedule.
Bilbo was both amazed and worried as he looked at the two bonecrushers around Dui that were almost out of sight and only made a whooshing sound as they cut through the air.
He was always worried that Dui might lose control and get hurt by the knife.
It looked incredibly dangerous!
After the two throwing knives danced nimbly around Dui for half an hour, they reluctantly flew back and tucked into the scabbards hanging at Dui's waist.
Dui now has complete control over throwing knives; any knife within a five-meter radius of him can be thrown instantly.
This gave Dui a qualitative change in its offensive capabilities and a certain degree of self-defense.
Moreover, with continuous control and practice, Dui has successfully floated a 100-pound object and can maintain that position for a period of time.
Bilbo was the first to experience the thrill of flying, floating in the air like a kite with Dui.
The surrounding hobbit neighbors also witnessed Bilbo's feat of flying over the Hobbiton Hills, and Bilbo instantly became the most talked-about figure in Hobbiton.
Of course, Dui, the instigator, is also attracting attention.
However, out of respect for Dui's status as a wizard, no one dared to approach him.
However, the name of the Wizard of Duir spread from Hobbiton to the entire Shire region.
Dui has been living in Bag End for two months.
On this day, Dui suddenly bid farewell to Bilbo.
"Bilbo, thank you so much for taking me in for so long. I'm afraid I need to say goodbye now."
Bilbo was caught off guard.
"Duir, have I neglected you in any way that you're leaving so suddenly?"
Seeing the hobbit tense up, Dui quickly bent down and patted him on the shoulder reassuringly.
"Don't worry, my friend, you've done enough! This isn't your fault."
"I'm just planning to go somewhere else and see the sights, since I haven't been anywhere else besides Hobbiton yet!"
He winked at his friend with a smile.
"Of course, when I get tired of walking, I might come and stay with you for a few days. Don't be unwelcome then!"
Bilbo relaxed upon hearing this and immediately shook his head.
"Of course not, you are always welcome here, Duir."
But he still asked with some concern, "Duir, where are you planning to go?"
Dui shook his head. "I don't have any plans for the time being. I intend to travel and see how things go. However, I don't plan to go too far right now, so I'll probably just wander around the Shire."
The Shire is neither too big nor too small; besides the town of Hobbiton, there are many other towns inhabited by Hobbits.
He planned to go and see if he could sign in.
"By the way, Bilbo, you should be quite familiar with the Shire. Do you have any towns you'd recommend?"
Hearing that Dui was traveling within the Shire, Bilbo was even more relieved.
He hurried into the study and rummaged through it, eventually finding a map of Charles and placing it on the table.
"Since you're going to travel within the territory of the Xiaer, I recommend that your first stop be Dadong Town. It's the capital of the Xiaer and definitely a must-visit."
Bilbo pointed to a marked location on the map, west of Hobbiton.
According to Bilbo's explanation, the entire Shire is divided into four districts: east, west, south, and north. Hobbiton is located in the center of the Shire and belongs to the west district.
Also located in the western district is the town of Dadong, the capital of Shire.
Dadong Town is the seat of the mayor of Shire and the commercial and trade center of the Shire region. It is easily accessible with the main east-west road running through it.
"Okay, let's go to Dadong Town first!"
Dui made the decision.
Although reluctant, Bilbo still saw Dui off.
Before leaving, he prepared a large bag of food for Dui, as well as a bulging bag of silver coins.
It's enough for his living needs for the next period of time.
Although Dui wanted to refuse, he was penniless at the moment, so he accepted Bilbo's kindness.
I simply kept this friendship in my heart.
After refusing Bilbo's offer to take him to the village, Dui cast a levitation spell on the package and, carrying the weightless package, embarked on his journey alone.
Upon arriving in town from Bag Bottom, Dui did not linger but continued westward along the main east-west road that passed through the area.
The road was flat, with beautiful pastoral scenery along the way, and occasionally Hobbit merchants or travelers would pass by.
They were also very curious about Dui, this outsider who was clearly human.
Dui walked at a brisk pace, but it still took him a whole day to finally arrive at Dadong Town before nightfall.
The architectural style of Big Hole Town is different from that of Hobbiton. The buildings here are taller and larger than those in Hobbiton, and most of them are houses built with wood, bricks and rocks, making it more like a city.
As he entered the city, all the hobbits around him focused their attention on the tall human.
One of the hobbits, with a mustache and a blue feather stuck in his hat, stepped forward.
"Outsider, where are you from? What brings you to our Dadong Town?"
