Chapter 282 Making the Right Decisions When Facing Any Danger

The three entered the cabin, put down their luggage, and walked to the lakeside. The lake water rippled gently in the breeze, and the surroundings were so quiet you could almost hear your own heartbeat. Lynn gazed at the lake, his tension and exhaustion gradually replaced by the tranquility. He realized that he had been too focused on work and cases, neglecting the simple and beautiful moments in life.

Gwen picked up a stone from the shore, laughing and skipping as she threw it into the lake: "Look, brother, how far I threw it!"

Looking at her sister's smile, Lynn felt a long-lost warmth welling up inside her, and said softly, "You're always so happy, Gwen. When will I learn to enjoy life like you do?"

Gwen stopped what she was doing, looked at her brother, and smiled, saying, "You're already doing it, brother. But you should slow down and not let work become your whole life."

Kate stood beside them, listening to their conversation, her smile widening. She knew that Lynn had lost his way in his busy work, but today, he could finally relax and rediscover the meaning of life.

As evening fell, the three sat around the lake, admiring the beautiful sunset. The setting sun dyed the lake red, and warmed their hearts as well. Kate said softly, "Look, moments like this are truly beautiful."

Looking at the scene before him, Lynn felt a long-lost peace in his heart. Although the future was still full of challenges, at this moment, he could feel a true sense of relaxation and tranquility. The time he had spent with his sister and friends had given him unprecedented strength.

"Thank you," Lynn suddenly said softly, her eyes softening. "Without you, I might never have been able to truly let go of all the pressure."

As night fell, the lake at the resort shimmered gently under the moonlight, and all was quiet. Lynn, Kate, and Gwen sat on a bench by the lake, enjoying this long-lost tranquility. The day's activities had left them exhausted, but the weariness in their hearts slowly dissipated due to the beautiful scenery and carefree atmosphere. Lynn could feel the pressure in her heart gradually releasing, as if she had been disconnected from this noisy world.

"The stars are so beautiful tonight," Kate said, leaning back in her chair and gazing tenderly at the night sky. "The air here is so fresh, it's nothing like the city. I can really relax here."

Lynn nodded, the scene before him making him completely relax: "Yes, the air is fresh, and it's quiet all around. It's truly a place that makes one feel happy."

Gwen looked around and sighed, "This place is like a secluded paradise, where I can feel an unprecedented tranquility. I wish this could last forever."

"Yes," Kate replied with a smile, "These relaxing moments are so precious. You two should enjoy them from time to time, otherwise you'll get tired too easily."

The three began chatting about their lives, and the lighthearted conversation made Lynn feel even more relaxed. A cool night breeze gently blew by. Gwen leaned on her brother's shoulder and whispered, "Brother, you're always so busy, when will you ever have time to stop and rest?"

Lynn smiled and patted her sister's head: "That's why I'm out with you two to relax today. I'll make time for myself more often in the future, and I'll spend more time with you too."

Suddenly, a series of deep footsteps sounded from afar. Lynn instinctively became alert and turned to look around. Kate and Gwen seemed oblivious to anything amiss, but Lynn's gaze was fixed on a figure not far away. A figure approached, dressed in tattered clothes, walking unsteadily, looking somewhat abnormal.

"That person looks like..." Kate said softly.

Lynn stood up, tugged at Kate and Gwen slightly, and whispered, "Be careful, don't let him get close."

Gwen was clearly nervous, her eyes fixed on the approaching figure: "He looks a bit strange, is he a homeless person? I... I'm a little scared."

The homeless man drew closer, his clothes filthy and disheveled, his eyes darting around, and a cryptic smile playing on his lips. He closed in on them, seemingly with no intention of leaving.

"Hey, miss, could you do me a favor?" the homeless man suddenly spoke, his voice hoarse and deep. "I've walked a long way and I'm starving. Could you give me something to eat, or... some change?"

Kate paused for a moment, then tried to respond calmly, "It's not convenient for us right now. You should leave."

However, the homeless man didn't seem to intend to give up. His eyes grew even stranger, and the smile on his lips gradually turned chilling. He grinned and continued to approach: "You're all so beautiful, how can you be so cold? Come on, give me something, or let me talk to you. I have something to say."

Gwen was clearly starting to feel scared, and her voice trembled as she said, "Brother, he doesn't seem right, what should we do?"

Lynn's eyes sharpened; he sensed an unusual atmosphere and realized things might not be as simple as they seemed. He stood up, walked to Gwen's side, his gaze calm yet wary: "It's alright, Gwen, don't be afraid. I'll protect you."

He turned to the homeless man, his tone firm and calm: "Listen, we don't want anything to do with you. Now leave, or I'll call the police."

Upon hearing this, the homeless man suddenly stopped, a glint of disdain flashing in his eyes. He chuckled softly, then muttered, "Do you think I'd listen to you?"

Lynn sensed an uneasy atmosphere spreading through him. He leaned forward slightly, signaling Gwen and Kate to keep their distance: "Listen, I'm warning you, don't come any closer to us."

The homeless man suddenly looked down and pulled a worn-out razor blade from his pocket, its edge gleaming coldly in the moonlight. His smile grew even more sinister: "You think you can threaten me? What can your police do? Nobody in this area will care about you."

At that moment, Lynn's vigilance reached its peak. He quickly straightened up, his gaze sharpening like a knife, silently preparing to take action. He knew that the person in front of him was no ordinary homeless man; there might be more danger lurking behind him.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Lynn asked coldly, her tone devoid of any pity. "If you continue to provoke us, I don't mind letting you know you've made a big mistake."

A flicker of hesitation crossed the homeless man's face, but he quickly resumed his menacing grin, seemingly trying to force Lynn to back down with this threat. "I'm warning you, don't make me too angry."

Just as the homeless man brandished the blade, Lynn reacted swiftly, lunging forward and using the momentum to snatch the knife from the man's hand. The homeless man was stunned by this sudden action; before he could even react, Lynn had him firmly pinned to the ground.

"You have no chance to fight back now." Lynn looked coldly at the homeless man, her tone ruthless. "You dared to threaten my family, and you must pay the price."

Kate and Gwen stood to the side, Gwen looking somewhat panicked, her voice trembling, "Brother, are you alright?"

"It's alright, don't worry." Lynn patted his sister's shoulder, his gaze firm. "However, this guy is not simple. We need to be careful if he has accomplices."

Kate had already picked up her phone, ready to call the police. She quickly dialed emergency numbers: "We're being harassed by a homeless man near the resort; he's threatening us with a knife. Please send the police."

A few minutes later, the police arrived at the scene. The homeless man was quickly arrested, and Lynn explained what had happened to the police. After confirming the situation, the police said they would handle the matter properly and thanked Lynn for his calm response.

Lynn, Kate, and Gwen finally breathed a sigh of relief after the police took the homeless man away. Gwen was still trembling, her eyes filled with terror: "Brother, that really scared me. That man was so scary, why would he do that?"

Lynn gently hugged her sister and tenderly comforted her, "It's alright, Gwen, it's alright. Look, the police are here, we're fine."

Kate walked over to them and sighed, "You two need to be careful, especially you, Lynn. Your quick thinking really saved us."

Lynn patted Kate on the shoulder and smiled, "It's what I should do, after all, you are all the most important people to me."

However, although the immediate crisis had passed, Lynn knew that this incident was no simple coincidence. The homeless man clearly had an unusual background, and might even be part of a larger conspiracy. He was filled with vigilance, but he also knew that the most important thing right now was to protect the two people in front of him—Kate and Gwen.

"We'll stay here," Lynn said after a moment of silence, deciding to remain vigilant, "but it's best to be cautious tonight; who knows what might happen?"

Kate nodded. "Yes, we still need to be careful. Even though the matter has been resolved, safety is always the most important thing."

Back at the cabin, Lynn remained vigilant, while Kate and Gwen tried to avoid thinking about the fear instilled by the homeless man.

The next morning, the resort was still breathtakingly beautiful, the air fresh, the lake like a mirror, and the surroundings tranquil. Lynn, Kate, and Gwen sat on the cottage's terrace after breakfast, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. Although the homeless incident the previous night had cast a shadow over the atmosphere, Lynn didn't let it affect their mood. He knew that life was full of unexpected events, but the most important thing was how to deal with them.

Kate looked up at the sky and said with a smile, "Where shall we go today? This place is peaceful, but I feel like I don't have any real activities going on. We can't just spend all day looking at the scenery, can we?"

Gwen smiled and said playfully, "Yes, brother, I really hope you can arrange some more exciting activities for us. We can't just enjoy these boring leisure times."

Lynn stroked his chin, a thoughtful look flashing in his eyes. "You two like exciting activities, right? Well then, I have a good idea." He paused, looking at Kate and Gwen. "Today we'll go to the shooting range and learn how to shoot."

Kate paused for a moment when she heard the suggestion, then a hint of curiosity flashed in her eyes: "Shooting? You mean firearms training?"

"Yes." Lynn smiled slightly. "Although you don't usually come into contact with these things, learning how to use weapons to protect yourself is very useful for you. It's not just for self-defense, but also to improve your vigilance and self-protection capabilities."

A flicker of excitement crossed Gwen's eyes: "That's great! I've always been a bit interested in shooting, and I never thought I'd get to try it myself today."

Lynn nodded: "Shooting is not just about aiming at a target; it also tests reaction time, stability, concentration, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Today, I will take you to the most professional shooting range, teach you how to use firearms correctly, and let you experience real shooting training."

Kate hesitated for a moment, clearly unfamiliar with firearms training: "Lynn, I really haven't handled firearms much, and I'm a little scared."

"Don't worry," Lynn reassured gently, "I'll make sure you're safe. Besides, shooting training isn't just about using firearms; it teaches you self-control and how to stay calm in a crisis. It's a very practical skill."

Kate finally nodded, a decision forming in her mind: "Okay, since you put it that way, I'll give it a try. Although I am a little nervous, I trust you will teach us how to be safe."

After the three had breakfast, Lynn led Kate and Gwen to a nearby shooting range. It was a professional training range located in an open area on the outskirts of the city, surrounded by high walls, and fully equipped for various shooting training exercises.

Upon arrival at the shooting range, staff greeted them and led them into the training area. The environment here was similar to the shooting range Lynn had seen at the FBI training center, but it focused more on providing an experiential learning experience suitable for beginners. Staff first gave Kate and Gwen basic safety training, explaining the use of firearms and precautions to ensure they could shoot in a safe environment.

Lynn stood by, observing, a hint of satisfaction in his eyes. He knew that although Kate and Gwen weren't familiar with firearms, this training would teach them how to handle emergencies and improve their self-protection abilities. A sense of responsibility welled up within Lynn. Although these seemingly ordinary training sessions wouldn't yield immediate results, he firmly believed that these small actions would ultimately help them make the right decisions when facing any danger in the future.

The staff began having Kate and Gwen practice the correct gun-holding posture, instructing them on how to adjust the gun and aim at the target. Kate initially seemed a little reserved; the gun was a strange and threatening object to her. She carefully gripped the handle, her hands tense, her eyes constantly scanning the target, her gaze unconsciously drifting towards Lynn. Seeing this, Lynn softly comforted her, "Kate, relax. Guns aren't as dangerous as you think. As long as you control it and master each step, you'll find it's not complicated." (End of Chapter)
