Magicians never make wishes
Chapter 10 Who is the real magician among us?
"Lord White Night, a mage's meditation isn't necessary..."
Evil Axe clumsily tried to be as tactful as possible, saying, "Only with extreme tranquility can..."
When a magician is meditating, he is easily interrupted by the slightest external influence.
Ronan's offhand fabrication clearly contradicted this, and the possibility of a curse instantly sent chills down the spines of the three.
No, how come you guys know more about magicians than I do?
"It's okay, my meditation method is rather unique."
He smiled gently, perfectly showcasing the approachable nature of his youthful face.
"Let's get started then, Evil Axe can't wait any longer." Taking advantage of this moment, Dunshan wanted to decide on the candidate immediately.
"I didn't... I didn't..." Evil Axe suddenly felt like he had been betrayed.
"Dunshan, carry me on your back. Evil Axe is not tall enough, so carrying someone on his back is a bit inconvenient."
Ronan couldn't stand the other party bullying an honest person who wasn't very bright, so he directly called out their names.
"You wouldn't refuse, would you?"
"No, no," Dunshan said with an awkward laugh, his expression somewhat unnatural.
Hawkeye, standing to the side, secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, he had a bit of an unpleasantness with the mage earlier; suffering a loss was indeed a blessing in disguise.
"Since that's the case—"
Ronan waved his hand, and a red ray flashed from his fingertip.
Several crystal lamp-like stone pillars on the cave ceiling broke off at their base and crashed down with a loud rumble.
The passage behind them was thus partially blocked.
However, obstructing the passage was only a secondary effect, and the breaking of the stone pillar was just one part of the pre-planned process.
The real purpose was to cause the entire cave to collapse instantly by destroying the structure of the cave's roof.
"Let's go, next location," Ronan urged, climbing onto Dunshan's sturdy back.
"Okay, okay," Dunshan replied reluctantly, his muscles inexplicably tightening.
And so, Ronan rode on Shield Mountain, moving swiftly through the cave passages, destroying stone pillars and damaging the cave ceiling.
When they heard the goblin's voice again, they saw the young lady and her maid standing at the cave entrance.
"Don't just stand there, run out of here!" Hawkeye shouted at the two.
But the young lady and her maid remained unmoved, simply staring blankly at the approaching crowd.
"Why isn't it coming out..." Dunshan glanced at the cave entrance, but swallowed back the words he was about to say.
Outside the cave, a large group of short, green-skinned creatures—goblins—had gathered.
Armed with various crude weapons, they surrounded the exit completely, led by a centurion goblin.
Ronan jumped off Dunshan's back, his face a little pale.
After using the "Burning Ray" repeatedly, his mental energy was almost depleted.
Even so, he mustered his last breath and fired the final shot, completely detonating the collapse switch that had been laid out along the way.
A swift sound of reconciliation rang out, and the deep cave passage collapsed instantly, leaving only the entrance area as a relatively stable space.
Hearing this noise and witnessing the disappearance of the passage behind her, the young lady finally understood what had happened.
"It still wasn't in time..."
She slumped down, her eyes vacant, muttering what seemed to be the second young master's name.
The maid knelt down and gently patted the young lady's back. The young lady burst into tears and buried her head in her arms, sobbing.
Ronan gave the two employers a strange look.
Then, their attention turned to the large group of goblins surrounding them outside the cave.
Goblins are generally unintelligent and bully the weak while fearing the strong, but in their vast numbers, there are always a few exceptions.
These outcasts are either more intelligent than other goblins or exceptionally brave, and over time they are able to conquer and lead a certain number of tribes.
The person who conquers between ten and one hundred of their kind is generally called a centurion.
Just like the one outside the cave entrance.
Its body was noticeably more robust, and its decorations differed from those of ordinary goblins, suggesting it was spoils of a raid.
He commands about forty or fifty goblins, whose strength is of average level.
Under its command, some goblins tightly surrounded the cave entrance, while others continuously threw stones at it.
Strangely, Ronan did not see any stones thrown into the hole.
Is your aim that bad?
He stepped forward and discovered a light purple transparent cover at the entrance of the cave, emanating a unique spiritual energy fluctuation.
The stones thrown by the goblins would bounce off at a certain distance, accompanied by a faint whimpering sound.
"What is this?" Evil Axe stared at it for a long time, unable to figure out what the barrier was, and began to doubt whether he had remembered it wrong. "It wasn't here when we came..."
Dunshan remained silent, his gaze fixed on Ronan.
Without a doubt, this is something the magician should know.
Ronan searched through the book of magical knowledge in his mind but found no relevant information.
"Necromantic Barrier..."
Hawkeye spoke in a somber tone, his eyes fixed on the spirits that occasionally flashed past the barrier, having lost all desire to explain further.
"The infamous necromancer's magic?!" Dunshan seemed to have lost control of his emotions and exclaimed in a trembling voice.
Necromancer?
Ronan immediately realized what was happening and searched for relevant information, but only obtained information on 'partial schools of thought'.
The original owner clearly didn't understand it very well either. He guessed that this might be knowledge gained after acquiring a job rank.
Ronan looked at his two teammates with some frustration.
Who among us is the real magician...?
"How could such magic appear here..." Evil Axe felt his mind was filled with cornmeal mush, and turned to look at Shield Mountain.
"This wasn't here when we came in, right? That's correct, isn't it?"
More than the magic itself, Evil Axe was concerned about whether he had lost his memory.
"Who is it?!"
Dunshan believed that no one would set up a barrier here for no reason; there must be other purposes involved.
He felt a little out of breath, so he simply took a step and jumped out of the cave.
The area covered by the necromantic barrier is quite large, and a certain distance in front of the cave entrance is also within its range.
As soon as Dunshan came out, what greeted him was a chill emanating from the barrier that seemed capable of freezing the soul.
And, a dagger flew swiftly towards them.
"Clang."
Dunshan seemed to have been prepared, instantly raising his shield. His dagger struck the broken iron shield, producing a crisp clang of metal clashing.
"It's you!" Dunshan exclaimed in shock and anger, quickly turning around and assuming a fighting stance.
"Captain, let me help you."
As the evil axe's blood surged, he leaped out of the cave, only to be met by three daggers flying towards him along different paths.
He swiftly swung his two axes, knocking two of them away.
The last dagger, as if it knew his weakness all along, struck his left shoulder directly.
The evil axe grunted and rolled on the ground, preparing to get up and fight back.
Ronan followed Hawkeye out of the cave. Just as they regained their footing, they heard Axe let out an incredulous gasp.
"Wolf Fang? You're still alive?!"
Following the gaze of the evil axe, the two saw a man whose body was wrapped in bandages and whose face was withered.
A shimmering bead hanging on his chest was exceptionally conspicuous, its light identical to that of the necromancy barrier.
The person before them was Wolf Fang, the only human in the team, who had been seriously injured and buried during the goblin attack and was presumed dead by everyone.
"You're the one who did all this?"
Dunshan's face was gloomy, and the killing intent in his eyes was more intense than ever before.
