Magicians never make wishes
Chapter 9 I will not allow you to make such unfounded assumptions about Lord Baiye.
Ronan immediately turned around and ran back the way he came.
He wasn't worried that the four-legged creature might take the opportunity to catch up and attack him from behind.
Judging from its still-unrepaired body, it will probably take quite a while longer.
However, if something unexpected happens to Dunshan and his team, the entire passage could be blocked, leaving them with no way to go up or down.
Holding a torch, Ronan hurried out of the passage entrance and back to the main path of the cave.
The situation isn't so bad that the passage is completely blocked, but it's far from ideal.
The young lady and maid had long since disappeared, replaced by Dunshan and his two companions who had run back from the depths of the cave.
And, behind the three, a burly figure was constantly chasing them.
"Bugbug?!"
Ronan screamed in surprise, almost thinking he was hallucinating, and then blurted out, "..."
"How come there's another one?!"
Shocked as he was, and puzzled as he was, he moved with surprising agility, instantly overtaking the three of them.
"This is the original one!" Evil Axe spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva, closely following Shield Mountain in front of him. "What a damn bad luck..."
"The first thing we encountered when we entered the cave was this bear goblin."
As Dunshan ran, he explained, his breathing still relatively calm, "It wasn't the one that attacked us in the camp."
"No wonder this cave is so deep, it turns out it's inhabited by two bear goblins..."
Hawkeye habitually does his analysis, but at this moment, he's clearly being a bit of a hindsight expert.
"Did you get the treasure?" Ronan asked without turning his head.
"No way! I didn't even get a chance the first time, so of course I won't now..."
At this point, the axe suddenly stopped, bringing it to a sharp halt.
"No, why are we running? Isn't Lord Baiye right here?"
Upon hearing this, Shield Mountain and Hawkeye also stopped. They had almost forgotten that activating the Adventurer's Badge was to tell Ronan: Get ready, we're all going to deal with the goblin bear together.
As soon as Ronan saw them running towards him, he started running too, and the group instantly went from asking for help to running away together.
The goblin bear in the cave was much weaker than the one that attacked the camp.
Although the group was no match for them, the situation was quite different when the powerful mage Bai Ye, who was suspected of having acquired a class, was included.
"Bai Ye, stop running! This goblin bear is no match for us!" Dunshan shouted to Ronan, who was still running.
However, Ronan didn't even stop; he simply tossed back a comment from afar.
"Come with me if you don't want to die."
The three men, including Dunshan, exchanged glances, and without saying a word, they took off and followed.
"What happened? Is it related to that passage?" Dunshan hurried to catch up and asked cautiously.
"Yeah, there's a huge, unkillable guy inside."
Ronan spoke calmly and succinctly, pointing out the core danger.
These words struck Dunshan like a thunderbolt, nearly causing him to stumble and fall.
"Can't be killed..."
Upon hearing this, Hawkeye and Axe, who had caught up from behind, were instantly drenched in cold sweat.
Ignoring the possibility of offending Ronan, Hawkeye, his throat dry, asked tremblingly,
"What...what kind of monster is it?"
"It's the second young master."
Ronan paused, briefly recounted the events, and, excluding those related to himself, focused on explaining the characteristics of the second young master after his transformation.
"It's a curse..."
Evil Axe almost blurted out the word "curse," but managed to stop himself at the last moment.
However, as he spoke, all three of them subtly distanced themselves from Ronan.
"Bai Ye, you didn't... come into contact with that thing, did you?"
Despite thinking it was unlikely, Dunshan still asked.
"No, it can't get close to me."
Ronan was a little puzzled as to why the other party would ask such a question. After thinking for a moment, he added, "Mages only need to attack from a distance."
Seemingly finding Ronan's words to be reasonable, Dunshan and the other two breathed a sigh of relief.
However, the three of them kept a certain distance from Ronan, as if they were terrified of getting close to him and worried about being too obvious, so they tried their best to erase this sense of offense.
Ronan noticed the strangeness of the three, especially the "curse" that Evil Axe had almost uttered earlier.
I'd like to ask, since I only retain memories related to magic; all other memories of the original owner have disappeared.
But out of caution, he ultimately abandoned the idea.
Perhaps there's a rule about curses: if you utter information related to a curse in the place where the curse appears, you'll be cursed directly.
Ronan genuinely believed in this possibility; after all, he had once ventured into dangerous explorations of the laws governing wishes and always held a deep reverence for the unknown.
After running for a while, the group realized that the goblin bear behind them had stopped moving.
Upon realizing what was happening, Ronan led the way and stopped in his tracks.
The axe-wielder immediately spoke up, "Is it safe now?"
Whether it's safe or not is unknown, but Ronan can't run anymore.
This body was weaker than expected; traditional magicians clearly didn't care about how to have the body of an athlete.
No sooner had the evil axe finished speaking than a shrill scream came from the depths of the cave, followed by a chaotic fight.
Judging from the sound, it must have been the bear goblin who ran into the four-legged creature that the second young master had mutated into.
"The worst has still happened." Dunshan's face was ashen.
If it were just a goblin, the four people present could kill it in no time if they joined forces.
However, with the addition of a strange source of curse that is neither deadly nor touchable, if the bear goblin is also cursed, those people will basically have no chance of survival.
"Then...shall we go help the goblin?"
The evil axe asked uncertainly, immediately drawing everyone's attention.
"How can we help? Should we fill its stomach?" Hawkeye's eyes practically rolled to the sky.
The evil axe, unusually, did not retort in dwarven slang, but instead looked at Shield Mountain.
"Captain, the cave passage is so deep, the rock walls probably aren't very sturdy, are they?"
"Evil Axe, I never thought you'd actually use your brain!" Shield Mountain's eyes lit up, suppressing his excitement, and he asked Ronan,
"Bai Ye, you can..."
Dunshan pointed to the thick stone pillars hanging from the cave ceiling, his meaning self-evident.
He and the evil axe were melee fighters, so Hawkeye's corrosive arrows were ineffective; only Ronan, who possessed super-powerful magic, could do it.
"Destroying just this stone pillar probably won't be enough to block the passage," Ronan pointed out the problem.
"This entire stretch of road is lined with these stone pillars; damaging even a few could definitely cause a collapse!"
The evil axe danced with excitement, for the dwarves' wisdom was not only reflected in forging but also permeated every aspect of life.
"This requires extremely precise targeted destruction. After each spell, I need to meditate and recover for a while, and I don't think I have enough time..." Ronan's gaze fell on the evil axe.
"Unless someone can take me away while I'm meditating, that would save a lot of time."
Upon hearing this, the three of them froze, and the color drained from their faces.
"Evil Axe, since it was your suggestion, this important position is rightfully yours." Dunshan spoke first, taking the initiative.
"Captain, I will not allow you to make such unfounded speculations about Lord Baiye."
With a serious expression, the evil axe declared righteously, "If Lord White Night wanted to attack us, would he need to resort to any underhanded tactics?!"
"Huh? Why would I attack you for no reason?"
Ronan felt like he was being dragged into this for no reason; he was just too tired to run and wanted someone to carry him out.
