Magicians never make wishes
Chapter 27 He's a ruthless adventurer
On the way back to the Adventurers' Guild, Ronan pondered for a long time.
The faction to which this three-person team belongs is most likely the Mystic Society, which has friendly relations with the Adventurers' Guild.
Rare and unconventional magic, unique enhancement methods, and blood-red crystals that can force people into specific spaces...
This series of appearances, so different from the mainstream, seems to be a huge, self-contained system.
Using the term "secret technique" to describe it is not an exaggeration at all.
Looking at others and then at himself, Ronan's desire to hide away and study magic became even more urgent.
Knowing only one spell is too unbalanced; a mage must develop in all aspects.
Take the gargoyle for example; its physical resistance can make early-game pure physical damage dealers like berserkers and assassins despair.
As for mages, as long as they master magic that can counter their weaknesses, the threat of gargoyles is greatly reduced.
This also illustrates the importance of team composition.
Moonless City, Adventurers' Guild Hall.
"Lord Byakuya, it's a pleasure to serve you."
When Alice smiled without her glasses, she was still quite pleasing to Ronan's eye.
Of course, wearing glasses and transforming into a salesperson gives it a completely different feel.
"Are you here to buy information?"
Ronan saw that she seemed to want to take out her glasses and put them on, so he quickly shook his head. "I'm here to submit a mission."
"Lord White Night, personally speaking, you are the most efficient adventurer I have ever met," Alice said with a smile.
Ronan took the gargoyle's core out of his bag and placed it in front of her.
"Just lucky. I need to submit the 'Clean up the gargoyles in the abandoned castle' quest."
"Please wait a moment..."
Alice took the core and placed it on a platform, where a constant stream of light scanned back and forth.
"This must be some kind of testing equipment," Ronan guessed.
"Materials verified, confirmed to be the gargoyle core of the abandoned castle, fulfilling the mission requirements." After confirming, Alice operated a series of functions on a small monitor in front of her.
"Lord Baiye, this is your reward." She took out three silver wolves and pushed them in front of Ronan. "The points have been added to your personal points."
"Okay." Ronan happily put away the silver coins; he had 300,000 in hand.
"Lord White Night, is there anything else you need?" Alice asked.
She wanted to promote the intelligence-buying service again, but Ronan didn't seem interested.
"Byakuya-sama?"
Alice saw that Ronan was sitting still, his eyes fixed on the gargoyle core he had just handed over.
After a flash of light, the core disappeared in an instant.
Ronan was filled with astonishment; this device could not only identify objects but also transmit them.
As the core was teleported away, a notification message popped up on the panel:
[Wish Power Reserves +1]
Finally, the notification arrived; completing the task did indeed increase my willpower.
Ronan glanced at the panel with delight; his Willpower reserves had recovered to 6 points.
"It's alright, thank you, Alice."
He stood up and said goodbye to the sweet-looking saleswoman.
Ronan doesn't actually have much need for wish power right now.
I dare not make any more wishes. I don't know how much willpower I need to restore my godhood next time, and it seems that having more willpower wouldn't be of much use anyway.
Simply put, the power of willpower isn't as appealing as Silver Wolf's right now.
He entered a human-style hotel, intending to find a place to stay first.
"What?! A room costs 1 silver wolf a night?!"
As soon as I entered the hotel, a ragged half-human figure was screaming at the front desk, slapping the desk repeatedly with his hands.
Halflings, also known as dwarfs, are generally shorter than dwarfs and look more like children with mature faces.
"Sir, our establishment is a high-end hotel in Wuyue City, guaranteeing both service and quality. It is definitely worth more than its price."
A refined-looking human man at the front desk explained gently that emotions are unaffected by any external factors.
"What kind of service costs 1 silver wolf?" The halfling narrowed his eyes. "None of those services are this expensive!"
"Sir, you jest. Our shop strictly prohibits any illegal private services," the man said calmly.
"This thing is legal?" The gray elf was taken aback. "I don't want any services, just give me the two cheapest rooms."
He reached into his pocket and fumbled for the larger-denomination bronze eagle.
To everyone's surprise, the man at the front desk said something astonishing: "I'm sorry, sir, this is the cheapest price."
Upon hearing this, Ronan, who had just entered the room, almost ran away.
"Are you kidding me?" The halfling's eyes instantly turned hostile. "Aren't you afraid my older brother will come and smash up your shop?"
"He's a ruthless adventurer, a tough guy who survived two beast tides!"
"Sir, please don't do that." The refined-looking man reached for a button under the counter. "Our store has strong security and can call for help in the shortest possible time. Please don't act rashly."
The refined-looking man looked down at him condescendingly, saying, "I'm afraid our store's emergency response measures won't be timely enough."
"You!" Seeing that the other party was unyielding and that talking to him made his neck uncomfortable, the halfling simply left.
Ronan turned around, intending to secretly follow them to see who their older brother was.
He also knew a tough guy who had survived two beast tides, but he didn't know if it was the same person.
But as soon as he turned around, a very intimate question came from behind him.
"My lord, I have failed to greet you properly."
Ronan looked around and realized the other person was talking to him. "Me?"
"Your presence is an honor to our humble establishment," the refined-looking man said with a fawning smile. "We happen to be having a promotion today to thank our valued guests; the best rooms are only 1 copper eagle per night. Would you like me to reserve a room for you?"
Isn't the difference before and after too big?
"Um... I have something to do, I'll come again when I have a chance."
Ronan didn't care whether the magical robes subtly accentuated his noble status or whether the shop was racially discriminatory and looking down on him... even though the other person wasn't exactly tall to begin with.
He hurriedly went outside, looking around to see where the halflings had gone.
The refined-looking man behind him chased after him out the door, bowing and calling out, "Welcome, sir, to our establishment at any time. We will always reserve a high-class room for you, as well as legal..."
This shout instantly attracted the attention of pedestrians coming and going on the street.
The crowd looked in the direction the man was bowing, but saw no one of particular significance present.
The street was filled with puzzled people, and Ronan successfully blended in with the onlookers with an expression that said, "Is this guy crazy?"
His gaze swept across the crowd, and he finally spotted the halfling's back.
He immediately turned away and followed silently.
The halfling clearly hadn't expected that someone would be following him in this Moonless City.
He wandered the streets for a while before finally entering a tavern.
Ronan waited a moment before stepping inside.
The tavern's noise didn't subside at all because of his arrival; the hall was packed with patrons of various races, but mostly humans.
Ronan found a table near the door and sat down, searching carefully.
Sure enough, a short while later, surrounded by a group of people, he spotted two familiar figures.
One was the halfling who had followed him all the way, and next to him was a dwarf wearing a hood and carrying two axes.
Surrounded, the dwarf slammed his fist on the table, but the sound was unusually calm.
"Aren't you afraid my captain will come and smash your store up?"
"He's a ruthless adventurer, a tough guy who single-handedly killed two goblin bears!"
