Magicians never make wishes

Chapter 28 I'll Make You Not Talk

"Don't think I don't know," the leader of the crowd sneered. "Your team's captain, Dunshan, is long dead."

The crowd laughed and said, "You don't even think before you brag! Your whole team can't possibly beat two bear goblins?"

"Besides..." the leader said sarcastically, clearly knowing some of the inside story.

"You're the only one left from your squad who came back, and you're still bluffing?"

The dwarf simply stopped pretending.

He pulled off his hood and glared fiercely at the group of people in front of him.

"Bullshit! You bunch of mercenary bastards, you worthless cowards, you've never died before, have you?"

His face had changed drastically; it was gaunt and a scar ran across his entire left cheek.

But Ronan recognized the dwarf's identity just by his manner of speaking.

He was the teammate he had been searching for, the berserker in the squad, the dwarf evil axe.

The lead mercenary leaned back and spread his hands, his attitude extremely arrogant.

"You scoundrel, you're not thinking of taking on all of us by yourself, are you?"

"Am I not human?"

Feeling ignored, the halfling jumped onto the table, yelling, "Huh? Am I even human?!"

The lead mercenary walked to the table and slapped him, sending him flying into a corner. "Where did this kid come from? Get out of here."

"Dare to touch my people?"

The evil axe's blood surged instantly, and his skin turned red in a flash—this was his berserk form as he launched a full-scale attack.

The double axes behind him appeared in his hands in the blink of an eye.

He pointed one axe at the other mercenaries, and held the other to the leader's neck.

"Are you fucking tired of living?"

With an axe held to his neck, the lead mercenary was clearly flustered, large beads of sweat streaming down his forehead.

"You wicked axe, if you dare kill me, none of us here will let you get away with this!"

This berserker's strength is different from what the intelligence said...

"Try moving anyone, I'll chop off their head and use it as a chamber pot."

The ruthless axe pressed the axe against his neck, drawing a spurt of blood. "I can kill ten more before I die. Who wants to go first?"

"Don't move, everyone!" The lead mercenary urgently stopped the restless crowd.

Compared to the rewards from important figures, one's own life is of course more important.

"Who told you to come and cause me trouble?"

The axe-wielding man withdrew his other hand and slapped the man's face with the axe blade, saying, "Wasn't it that bastard Russell?"

"Yes, yes..." The leading mercenary stammered for a long time, wanting to say it was someone else but not daring to actually say it.

Evil Axe simply took the lead mercenary hostage, preventing the others from stepping forward.

The once bustling tavern was quickly deserted as both sides drew their weapons. Many of the still-soothing patrons fled.

Apart from the drunken patrons, the rest of the people in the hall were basically the same group.

Ronan pretended to be drunk, leaning over the table, while secretly observing the group's every move with narrowed eyes.

According to Evil Axe, they were likely mercenaries from the Mercenary Blood Alliance.

I just don't know what the relationship is between that halfling and the evil axe...

While everyone's attention was focused on the axe, the bartender had already silently appeared behind the halfling.

"This level of vigilance is really too low..." Ronan sighed inwardly.

Just as the lead mercenary couldn't reply and the thug was about to resort to violence again,

The bartender attacked from behind, mimicking the axe-wielding man, holding a dagger to the halfling's neck and shouting, "Don't move!"

"Otherwise, I'll cut off this head and use it as a chamber pot!"

Evil Axe never imagined that someone would be so shameless, not only copying his kidnapping techniques but also plagiarizing the lines.

"Come on, cut one out for me to see." The evil axe immediately used another axe to cut a gash on the leg of the hostage in his hand.

"Holy crap, no way!"

"Don't get excited!"

The two hostages simultaneously spoke up to stop them, fearing that the bartender and the axe-wielder would start a fight, each slashing and hacking at the other.

The lead mercenary's leg wound was bleeding profusely, and he was in so much pain that tears streamed down his face.

But he gritted his teeth and tried to save himself.

"You scoundrel, now everyone has hostages. How about this: we exchange hostages, and that's it for today?"

Upon hearing this, the wicked axe-wielder slapped him several times across the face with the axe blade.

"You can talk so much, but you can't answer my question, can you?"

The bartender was stunned, almost doubting that his hostage was dead, so he quickly followed suit and slapped the man a few times.

"If you dare touch him again, your friends will get the same treatment!"

The halfling, being held hostage, was displeased. "Partner is partner, what's with the 'little' in that word!?"

"Oh? I don't believe it." After saying that, Evil Axe immediately slapped the leading mercenary again, knocking out his front teeth.

"Slap." The bartender immediately retaliated, slapping half of the man's face until it was swollen.

"Hold on, crawl through the rats," the evil axe reassured the halfling.

The halfling originally thought that once the evil axe knew that the other party would retaliate in kind, he would have some reservations and would not make another move.

As a result, the ruthless axe turned around and immediately slapped the lead mercenary across the face again, yelling, "I told you not to talk!"

"I told you not to talk!"

"I told you not to talk!"

……

No, bro, this is what "hang in there" means...

The bartender immediately followed suit and began slapping half of the man's face.

The tavern fell silent for a moment, save for the continuous slapping sounds on the faces of the hostages and the vicious axe's repeated shouts of "I'll teach you to talk!"

As the draw progressed, both hostages were starting to roll their eyes back when the bartender, panting heavily, finally said, "Stop for a second."

"If you keep hitting him like that, he won't be able to say anything."

Upon hearing this, the two hostages, who were on the verge of losing consciousness, were moved to tears.

Brother, you should have told him sooner.

"Will you talk or not!" the evil axe roared, raising its axe head high.

It seems that if no answer is heard in the next moment, a new round of slapping punishment will begin.

"It's Viscount Roland!" the lead mercenary shouted immediately, afraid of being a second too late.

"I simply accepted a mission from the Mercenary Blood Alliance, received Viscount Roland's deposit and intelligence, and then stumbled upon your trail..."

"Who is this bird-headed viscount?" The wicked axe didn't even put the axe to his neck anymore, and just grabbed him.

"I...I don't know..." The lead mercenary was having some difficulty breathing.

"You son of a bitch..." Just as the ruthless axe was about to deliver another slap, the other person immediately cried out, "I really don't know!"

"I know, he's a viscount from the princess's territory. I heard he's very close to the princess," the bartender replied, his fanning efforts faltering.

"Princess...you want to kill me?" The wicked axe pondered for a moment, then flew into a rage. "How dare you lie to me!"

Feeling that these people were toying with him, the evil axe-wielder, enraged, raised his axe to dismember the hostage.

They completely forgot that there was another hostage in the other party's hands.

"No!"

"Don't!"

"stop!"

"etc!"

……

Everyone's hearts were in their throats, and voices of protest rang out simultaneously.

Amidst the commotion, a voice from the tavern entrance stood out.

"Alright, Evil Axe, that's enough."

Ronan got the answer he wanted and stood up from the table.

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound, and the backlighting at the doorway outlined a blurry figure of a young man, whose features were indistinct.

But the voice was incredibly familiar to him. He couldn't help but abandon the lead mercenary and excitedly shout, "Captain!"
