Magicians never make wishes

Thank you so much for Chapter 6!

Without the special power boost, dead goblins are much easier to chop up.

As the wicked axe dismembered the valuable materials, it muttered under its breath.

"I've struck gold! How much can I sell all these materials for?!"

Not long after, Shield Mountain and Hawkeye followed Ronan to the scene of Evil Axe's slaughter.

Dunshan and Hawkeye lent a hand to Evil Axe, and the three of them worked together to skin off the most valuable fur, fold it neatly, and place it in front of Ronan.

Then, the distribution of supplies among the three began.

Ronan took out a folded bag he was carrying and grabbed a fur pelt, intending to put it inside.

This folding bag, also known as a storage bag, is one of the two main pieces of personal equipment provided by the Adventurers' Guild to registered adventurers.

Although it cannot compare to a spatial ring and its storage space is very limited, it is the most popular storage equipment among adventurers, and almost everyone has one.

However, the moment Ronan touched the fur, a message flashed before his eyes.

[Divinity under initial repair... 0.1% complete]

A power is continuously flowing from the fur; this is the special power of the amplified bear goblin.

As the power continues to be transferred, the percentage of divine restoration also continues to rise.

0.7%...

1.5%...

After the power transmission disappeared, the information on the panel also remained unchanged:

[Status: Severely damaged (Under repair/3%)]

Ronan was overjoyed and quickly ran to the three of them, reaching out his fingers to sense each of the other goblin fragments one by one.

If one could truly restore their divine status, wouldn't that mean they could make wishes normally, without having to cautiously explore those inexplicable and mysterious patterns, constantly flirting with danger?

Thinking of this, Ronan's heart burned even brighter. Staring at the pile of bear goblin fragments on the ground, he regarded them as priceless treasures.

"Bai Ye, if you change your mind, you can have all the spoils."

Dunshan sensed something odd in Ronan's gaze and silently put down the bear paw in his hand.

"After all, without you, whether we could have survived is another matter entirely, let alone be here..."

"I'll just take a look; you guys divide it up."

He made a casual remark and then continued to bury himself in the various fragments, carefully sensing where there was any special power that could be absorbed.

Unfortunately, apart from the fur, no other part of the body possesses this special power.

Ronan was greatly disappointed.

"If you're looking for that special power, I think we might know..." Dunshan observed Ronan for a while and guessed his purpose.

He looked at the other two team members, who both nodded in agreement.

"There's a treasure chest in the goblin cave, and it's definitely related to what's inside," Evil Axe said decisively, then added with a regretful look, "Last time we almost opened the chest and got what was inside."

"By the way, why don't we...?"

Before Hawkeye could finish speaking, his two teammates reacted instantly.

"Yeah! The goblin bears have all crumbled into pieces, so that cave is practically empty now, isn't it?"

The axe-wielder was stunned. For the first time in his life, he reflected on his actions, thinking, "Why didn't I think of this sooner!"

He immediately turned his head, his gaze fixed intently on Dunshan, "Captain..."

Dunshan naturally wanted to agree immediately and called his teammates to rush to the bear goblin's cave.

However, before doing so, he glanced at Ronan discreetly, and only after confirming that Ronan didn't seem to object to doing so did he respond.

"Quickly gather the spoils and prepare to head to the goblin's lair!"

Finally, he specifically asked Ronan,

"Bai Ye, what do you think? Of course, you should definitely prioritize the gains."

Ronan was also eager to see what it was that could both greatly enhance the goblin and be absorbed to repair its divine nature.

Perhaps the divine essence can absorb some more and complete the initial repair.

Ronan, of course, wouldn't refuse a deal that offered both safety and benefits.

However, another question arose: "What will happen to the employers if we all go?"

"The value of all these materials far exceeds the reward for the job, so why should we care about these burdens..."

As Evil Axe spoke, he noticed that Shield Mountain and Ronan's expressions were not quite right.

"But then again..."

"Our team has always had a good reputation; we can't abandon our employer for a little profit!"

"I would never do such a despicable thing that would tarnish the honor of the dwarves!"

Even though no one paid him any attention, Evil Axe kept trying to make amends.

"Take them all. There's no danger anyway; at most, we'll just be a little later getting back to the city," Dunshan said to Ronan, clearly not seeing any problem with it.

"I don't think the two beautiful ladies will mind."

……

"No, no way! I don't agree!"

Upon hearing that the team was to temporarily head to another location instead of returning to the city immediately, the young lady instantly became like a cat with its fur standing on end.

"Why? Is there something urgent?" the maid asked patiently from the side. She was much more rational than the young lady.

"We've already lost a comrade, and now that the crisis has just passed, shouldn't we take this opportunity to hurry back to town?"

"We, too, have lost an important partner."

Dunshan glanced at the spot where the wolf fang had been buried and said in a heavy tone,

"But there are some things that have to be done, otherwise, I would be letting down my comrades who sacrificed themselves."

Dunshan's heartbroken expression left Ronan momentarily speechless.

If I hadn't known we were going on a treasure hunt, seeing him like this, I would have thought he was going to lead the whole team to their heroic sacrifice.

To be able to beautify one's own selfish desires in such a grand and dignified way...

It must be said that no one who can make it in the adventurer circle and serve as a captain is a simple person.

However, as the beneficiary, Ronan has no right to criticize others.

Therefore, faced with the young lady's request for him to uphold justice, he could only remain silent.

"My lord mage, you be the judge! Shouldn't adventurers who accept employment quests consider the interests of their employers?"

Seeing that Ronan did not respond, the young lady suddenly realized that she and the other adventurers were actually on the same side.

"Aren't you afraid I'll complain to the Adventurers' Guild?!" The young lady was somewhat exasperated.

"Let me tell you, my dad is... well, when the time comes..."

Maid Amy quickly reached out and covered the young lady's inappropriate threat.

Dunshan's eyes had turned dangerous, his gaze like a sharp sword piercing the employer.

"I apologize, Miss Celia rarely goes out and is prone to saying things without thinking. I hope you gentlemen won't mind."

Amy immediately stepped forward to apologize, her attitude was very sincere.

However, her hands were still tightly restraining the young lady, making her current state somewhat contrasting.

The young lady was still struggling, so Amy leaned close to her ear and whispered a few words.

Then, the young lady stopped talking, and the light in her eyes gradually dimmed.

"It's okay, we don't mind."

Dunshan smiled, turned around, and walked back to the distribution site of the spoils, as if nothing had happened.

He remained silent the entire way, clearly indicating that his true emotions were not as they appeared.

"Don't worry, if anything unexpected happens, I will prioritize protecting you."

Ronan turned to offer a word of comfort, only to see the maid and the young lady exchange a glance.

Then, Amy took out a badge from her pocket that emitted a shimmering white glow.

"My lord mage, you... are a good person. I know you had no choice in the matter."

As soon as she finished speaking, a beam of light shot out from the emblem in Amy's hand, silently soaring into the sky.

Ronan couldn't understand the maid's actions; nothing happened after the emblem finished glowing.

He was about to ask a question when he heard the second young master's voice first.

"My lord mage, thank you so much."

The second young master had just woken up from his coma and appeared full of energy.

He stood up, opened his arms wide, and gave Ronan a big hug.

Ronan was just starting to feel something was wrong when the second young master's next words made him feel as if he had fallen into an ice cellar.
