Magicians never make wishes
Chapter 7: Isn't making a wish simply about getting whatever you want?
"My lord mage, thank you for saving my arm."
The second young master was moved to tears, and his trust and affection for Ronan reached their peak.
Ronan stood motionless, a bead of cold sweat slowly trickling down his forehead.
He clearly remembered that the reason the second young master fell into a coma was because his left arm was hit by a boulder, resulting in excessive blood loss.
Since it was no longer shaped like a hand, Ronan could only use magic to perform a hot cut on the spot.
Although he lost his entire left arm, at least he survived.
But now.
The second young master's left arm miraculously grew back without a scratch!
The young lady and the maid didn't witness the amputation, but Ronan cut off his own arm, so there's no possibility that he misremembered or didn't know.
The only reason Ronan could think of for such a bizarre and illogical phenomenon was that it involved making a wish.
Before Ronan mastered magic, in order to maintain his persona as a magician and prevent those with ulterior motives from discovering that he couldn't use magic, he had no choice but to achieve his goal by making wishes.
When the second young master was injured and bleeding, his wish was not unreasonable.
Adhering to his own principle that "wishes should be precise and concise," he wished for "to stabilize the injury to the minimum extent possible."
Although there were some setbacks during the process, such as the tentacles going out of control at the last moment and almost attacking the second young master.
But Ronan firmly believed that no matter how out of control these tentacles became, they would not affect the desire itself.
These are all just the twists and turns in the process; only the result matters.
The wish was to stabilize the injury, and that's exactly what happened.
that's enough.
Isn't making a wish simply about getting whatever you want?
There's no need to get too hung up on the implementation method.
As for the Second Young Master's current abnormality... it must be due to the treatment being too powerful.
After all, using one point of willpower to treat a minor scratch is like using a cannon to kill a mosquito; it's reasonable to expect some positive aftereffects.
Ronan's analysis continuously confirmed his ideas.
At this moment, the panic in his heart disappeared, and his mind became clear.
The second young master, who was originally terrified of him, now seems to think that some fools are just lucky.
After Dunshan and his two companions efficiently distributed the spoils, they called for everyone to head towards the goblin's cave.
The evil axe kept turning back, somewhat disapproving of its employer's slow pace.
But upon seeing Ronan walking among his employers, he ultimately swallowed the complaints that were on the tip of his tongue.
The group walked for a long time.
Dunshan was at the front of the group, constantly checking the direction and responsible for finding the way back to the bear goblin cave.
Eagle Eye and Evil Axe positioned themselves on either side, guarding against any potential attacks.
The three men formed a triangular formation, while behind them were three employers whom Ronan was responsible for protecting.
By this time, Ronan's mental energy network had already been spread out, centered on him, constantly moving with his movements, and keeping a close eye on everything happening around him.
"etc."
Hawkeye suddenly stopped and gestured for everyone to stop as well.
"Hawkeye, what did you find?" Dunshan didn't turn around, still staring straight ahead, only asking aloud.
With his exceptional eagle eyesight and the added bonus of being a ranger, he has a great eagle eye.
Under night vision, it is easy to spot details that others might miss.
He broke formation and took two steps forward, bent down, picked up a pinch of black soil with his fingers, and smelled it.
"Dunshan, it seems we need to speed things up."
Hawkeye said gravely, "This is Black Skull Powder, which has a strong hallucinogenic effect on some monsters and is often used as bait."
Evil Axe understood the crux of the problem: "Don't you dare tell me that 'some of the monsters' refers to the bear goblins."
"It seems someone else has also discovered the goblin and plans to lure it out of the cave and kill it." Hawkeye nodded, giving the most reasonable deduction.
"Stay alert. Don't engage other squads first." Dunshan's expression was serious. "Maintain formation and increase speed!"
The group quickened their pace, and even the employers started jogging.
Along the way, Hawkeye discovered several more spots of black skull powder, the locations of which completely overlapped with their path.
"Captain, are we really going to run into other adventurer teams later?" Evil Axe tightened his grip on his twin axes.
"Not necessarily. Maybe they couldn't beat the goblin and gave up, or maybe they took all the valuables in the cave while the goblin was chasing us."
Dunshan paused for a moment, then said, "The chances of us encountering either of these situations are very low."
"I'm more inclined to believe the other possibility."
Hawkeye collected a considerable amount of Black Skull powder along the way, and through observation of multiple samples, he reached the latest conclusion.
"Judging from the degree of dampness of the Black Skull powder, it must have been stored for only a short time."
"The other side is probably lying in ambush near their own trap, waiting for the goblin to come to them."
Dunshan nodded silently, agreeing with this statement. "They would use this method to lure the bear goblin out, so they obviously wouldn't dare to enter the cave easily."
"That's great! No one can take my treasure away now!" Evil Axe was overjoyed.
Although he is not good at reasoning, he has developed a unique judgment system centered around the captain.
The captain's tone is off, this is bad, let's ask again.
The captain delivered some good news. Got it! Charge!
Although no other teams were expected to compete for the treasure, the team's pace did not slow down.
The three men, including Dunshan, maintained their formation, moving with incredible speed.
If it weren't for the need to keep an eye on their employers and Ronan back home, they would have already set off at full speed.
Just as the employers were running out of energy and could no longer keep up with the group, Dunshan and his two companions finally stopped.
What was displayed before everyone was a wide-open cave entrance, with smooth, dark blue-green rocks at the edges, and no plants to cover it.
Ronan couldn't understand how Dunshan and the others could think this was a goblin's lair, given the size of the cave entrance.
"Stay alert, and don't make a sound," Dunshan said to the others as he turned around. "Let's go."
The cave passages are spacious, and occasionally beams of light shine through gaps in the ceiling, providing basic visibility into the dark cave.
The road stretched downwards, and the deeper one went, the thicker the darkness became.
The group lit the torches they had prepared beforehand and continued forward while maintaining their formation.
Ronan carried the torch at the very back of the procession, just in case the employer accidentally got separated from the group and no one noticed.
He frowned, and every now and then, by the light of the fire, he would look up, down, left, and right at the rock face.
Since entering the cave, Ronan found it extremely difficult to extend his mental energy outwards; his mental energy network had been confined to a range of two meters as he went deeper.
He could always feel a subtle, almost imperceptible attraction surrounding him, calling out to him in a faint way.
Following this silent call, Ronan's gaze fell on an ordinary protruding rock on the left side of the cliff, where the sensation was strongest.
He reached out and pressed down lightly.
Rumble.
The entire rock wall collapsed into a pile of rubble, revealing another deep cave entrance.
"What's going on?!"
The three of them, including Dunshan, arrived instantly. Seeing that a passage had suddenly appeared, they all looked at Ronan with questioning eyes.
"Did you discover this other road when you came here last time?" Ronan asked in return.
The three adventurers shook their heads in unison.
"A sudden change in circumstances may not be a good thing," Hawkeye advised tactfully.
"That's right, this cave is too deep, it's not a simple place." Dunshan had been on edge the whole way, and he didn't completely ignore the possibility of another small team. "Let's speed up, grab the treasure chest and leave."
What do you think, Bai Ye?
Compared to the treasure chest of unknown value, Ronan would certainly prefer to go to this newly appeared route.
However, his teammates didn't want to cause trouble, so he could only wait until they were returning from retrieving the treasure chest before finding an excuse to persuade them to go in and take a look.
"Also..."
Before he could finish speaking, a sudden change occurred!
Everyone's attention was focused on the cave entrance, but no one noticed the dim light in the shadows.
The second young master was writhing in agony, his face contorted with madness, shrouded in endless darkness.
Veins silently sprouted on his left arm, like blood-red thorns dancing in the wind.
"what!"
He roared and transformed into a blood-red shadow, rushing into the newly appeared deep cave.
