The Walking Dead: Starting as a Cowboy
Chapter 126 Slavery
Andrea gritted her teeth, stopped, and obediently took a few steps back, which surprised Carol.
Since meeting Andrea, Carol has never seen Andrea yield or obey; she has always been headstrong.
I never expected to see Andrea change like this.
"What are you looking at?" Carol's eyes were full of meaning, and Andrea turned around uncomfortably.
"It's nothing, it's nothing."
Carol smiled gently. This is a good thing.
Apart from the two, the other soldiers' expressions turned colder, and the killing intent in their eyes intensified. They finally understood why their boss had brought them to this force.
Caesar's tone remained unchanged as he continued, "Don't your personnel move around much? Relying on just a few of you to collect supplies outside, I'm afraid you can't support many people, can you?"
Caesar asked questions while holding the answers in his hands.
John looked at the dust on the floor, large beads of sweat dripping down his nose, the round beads of sweat covered in dust.
Dust billowed up from his breath, and John could hear his heart pounding and feel death drawing ever closer.
"...If you've used them for too long, or if you want to replace them with new ones, you can kill them and then go outside to find new ones."
Isn't this slavery?
The thought crossed everyone's mind: to forcibly bring the person back to the camp and treat them as their private property.
Kill if you want, play if you want.
Has the order in people's hearts collapsed so completely in the apocalypse? And they were the guardians of order before the apocalypse.
Such a stark contrast in tone drew scornful looks from many people towards John.
Caesar took a deep breath. "Thank you for your honesty. Morales locked them both up."
Morales nodded, then pointed to the walkers who had been brought over. "What do we do with these?"
Caesar waved his hand casually: "It's been taken care of."
Originally, they planned to use some methods, such as using zombies, to force the two to reveal information, but they didn't expect one of them to be so spineless that he confessed immediately.
Shortly afterward, all members of Caesar's team returned to the abandoned factory and learned from the others what had just happened.
Every expression on their faces revealed their disgust for Grady Memorial Hospital.
……
Inside the building, at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Dawn Lerner gazed out the window, his face filled with utter delight.
Even as the leader of a minor power, she could become obsessed with and addicted to that little bit of power.
This is her kingdom; her word is law, and no one can defy her orders.
"Dawn?"
The door was suddenly flung open, and the person who barged in rushed in without any regard for safety.
It's O'Donnell.
Damn it!
Dawn was burning with rage. He turned around with a superficial smile on his face, and you could see his eyes twitching from time to time.
O'Donnell reached out and rubbed his hooked nose, casually walked over to Dawn's office chair and sat down. He turned the chair around from side to side and said meaningfully, "Dawn, your chair is really comfortable. It's much more comfortable than mine."
Dawn's forehead veins bulged. He took a few deep breaths to suppress his anger, his expression becoming even more eager. "How about I switch this chair with yours?"
A hint of disdain flashed through O'Donnell's mind, but he conceded as expected.
"Never mind, my seat is fine too."
O'Donnell then remembered that his purpose in coming was not to show off his power or demonstrate his status within the organization.
"We can't get in touch with anyone outside."
"What?" Dawn was slightly taken aback, wondering if there was something wrong with his ears.
"You heard me right." A cold glint flashed in O'Donnell's deep-set eyes. "We can't contact anyone outside."
Dawn tried to find a plausible answer: "Could they all have gone hunting?"
"Impossible. There are still many people using it in the hospital, so there's no need to replace it with a new one for now."
O'Donnell's rebuttal reminded Dawn of how he had allowed O'Donnell to practice slavery in the hospital as a compromise.
Of course, Dawn initially disagreed, but many of his subordinates wanted women, and Dawn naturally agreed in order to preserve his power.
Since then, more and more police officers have joined O'Donnell's ranks, while he himself has fewer and fewer men under his command.
Dawn didn't understand why his men were still pursuing O'Donnell when he had already allowed them to do whatever they wanted.
"I think they've encountered a formidable opponent."
O'Donnell watched the foolish woman deep in thought and impatiently voiced his opinion.
"A formidable enemy?" Dawn realized, and gave an awkward smile. "Impossible, we're so well hidden, no one will discover us."
The more Dawn talked, the less confident she became. She knew this was the most likely possibility, and perhaps the only explanation that made sense.
Dawn swallowed hard, forcing himself to remain calm, and said, "They've probably seen some easy targets outside and want to try and gain some benefits..."
Looking at this foolish woman who was so obsessed with power that she refused to wake up, O'Donnell really didn't want to argue with her anymore and had to find a way to survive.
O'Donnell stood up, said a few words, and left.
"Okay, I'll head back now."
Back in his office, O'Donnell's confidants were waiting for him.
Wearing a police uniform and sucking on a lollipop, Gorman smeared his slicked-back hair, which looked like it had been licked by a cow, and asked, "Boss, what did that woman Dawn say?"
O'Donnell chuckled dismissively. "What else can she do? She's still dreaming of being the leader and doesn't want to believe the truth of this information."
"Huh? What do we do then?"
"No way, no way, are we just going to stay here and wait to die?"
"I don't want to die, I don't want to die, let's get out of the hospital quickly."
"Yes, if we go from all directions, at least several of us should be able to escape."
"..."
The people in the office started talking all at once, and the scene instantly turned into a frantic attempt to scramble for the hospital's medicines and food, as everyone tried to escape.
Gorman thought about how many women he could take with him; one or two wouldn't be enough, and four or five would be too much...
O'Donnell slammed his hand on the table, the sound drowning out the chattering noise in the office. O'Donnell's face darkened.
"What's all this noise about?"
"The enemy hasn't even come knocking on your door yet, and you're already discussing how to escape?"
"You're all a bunch of cowards! Wake up! If you run away with plenty of supplies, someone might have set a trap for you!"
O'Donnell's words made a lot of sense. The office fell silent instantly, and everyone looked at each other, unsure of what to do.
Gorman, ever the astute observer, asked, "Boss, what should we do?"
O'Donnell mentally gave Gorman a thumbs up, "If we're going to leave, we have to leave together, not split up."
