Chapter 158 Disguise
Chapter 158 Disguise
After discussing the matter, Caesar pondered for a moment and asked, "Are you aware of Beth's situation?"
Herschel glanced at Caesar. Had it really come to this?
With a sigh, Herschel said softly, "I know Beth likes you."
"You know?"
"I've been her father for almost twenty years. If I couldn't even see this, I would be such a bad father."
"However, I don't object," Hershel said calmly, gazing at the horizon.
Caesar listened quietly, and Herschel slapped his shoulder hard. "I just want her to be happy."
After bidding farewell to Herschel and his daughter in the plantation, Caesar returned to the town.
It was dinnertime in the town, and wisps of smoke rose from the chimneys, filling the air with the aroma of food.
When Caesar returned home, the meal was already prepared and set on the table.
Hearing the noise at the door, Amy smiled and went to help Caesar take off his coat. "Did you go to the planting area today?"
"Yes, I saw it." Caesar nodded. "Hershel has managed it very well; the corn and other crops in the planting area are growing very well."
"But it will take some effort to continue increasing production."
Caesar sat down in the dining room, while Amy went to the kitchen to serve the rice, her soft voice carrying out her message.
"Black Pine Valley hasn't grown crops for so many years, this is just the beginning, let's take it slow."
Caesar smiled and said, "We have to take it slowly."
Amy carried two bowls of rice back to the table and set out the bowls and chopsticks.
With the delicious-looking and fragrant dishes right in front of him, Caesar couldn't help but start eating with gusto.
Amy put down her chopsticks and looked at Caesar. "Caesar, have you seen Beth?"
Caesar paused, put down his bowl, and said, "I saw it. Beth confessed her feelings to me."
Caesar had no intention of hiding anything, but he didn't expect Amy to find out so quickly; the news spread much faster than he had anticipated.
Amy smiled. "It was my suggestion that Beth confess to you."
Caesar paused slightly, looking at Amy with a puzzled expression.
Amy pulled out a tissue and wiped Caesar's mouth, a gentle smile appearing on her face as she met Caesar's gaze.
"I know Beth likes you. I saw her visit you at the Stone House once. The moment I saw her, I knew she liked you."
"She looks exactly like me back then. We were very close, you just didn't know that."
"I didn't want her to be unable to express her feelings to you because of me, so I encouraged her to confess her feelings to you."
"You can accept this?" Caesar blurted out.
Although polygamy will inevitably reappear after the apocalypse, Caesar did not expect that Amy and Beth's thinking would evolve so quickly.
This actually makes Caesar seem hesitant.
Amy nodded, saying noncommittally, "Of course I can accept it. I'm willing to accept Beth. Now it's up to you."
Caesar shook his head. "Let's talk about it later."
Caesar's mind is now mostly focused on Woodbury, planning to quickly acquire it, and he doesn't want to waste too much energy on emotional issues.
The sun and moon revolve in the sky, and the day of the party is drawing near.
Andrea walked briskly down the street to the party venue, quickly checking the quantities of drinks and food in her notebook.
-
With her hair up, Andrea looked much more capable. She was holding a pen and taking stock of the party items, such as balloons.
It's fair to say they're so busy they barely have time to rest.
Thanks to Andrea's efforts, the party started smoothly.
The governor walked up to a small platform, holding a microphone, and looked down at the sea of people below with a smile, a hint of impatience flashing in his eyes.
"Dear residents of Woodbury, thanks to you, we have Woodbury today, a place that shelters us. Thank you, thank you Woodbury."
The opening remarks were perfect, and the crowd applauded in unison, interspersed with a few cheers and screams.
The scene immediately became lively.
The governor picked up a bottle of champagne, shook it wildly, and then, with a bang, the cork popped out, and beautiful sprays of champagne erupted.
The governor, waving a bottle of liquor, cheerfully shouted, "The party's officially on!"
"Alas"
The crowd erupted like boiling water.
The governor stepped down from the podium, walked towards Andrea, and casually picked up a glass of champagne from the table next to him.
"Andrea".
The governor smiled and gestured.
Andrea smiled, turned around, and raised her glass.
"Thank you for your hard work. Thanks to you, this party could have gone on as planned."
"You're welcome, Governor. I'm doing this for Woodbury, and everyone would be happy to do it," Andrea said, offering herself a compliment that made her feel nauseous.
This amused the governor, who patted Andrea on the shoulder with a smile, saying, "You have a very pleasant voice."
Andrea was wearing a low-cut dress, and the governor's hand touched Andrea's skin directly. Looking at the governor's smile, Andrea felt extremely disgusted.
Suppressing her nausea, Andrea hurriedly took her leave, saying, "By the way, Governor, Milton is looking for you. He wants to talk to you."
The governor quickly realized what Milton wanted to see him about, and his interest was immediately dampened. He waved his hand and said, "I'll go see him in a bit."
After speaking, the governor walked towards the others, his face always bearing a refined and gentle smile.
Andrea watched from afar, feeling a chill run down her spine.
Turning around, Andrea walked towards Carol.
But as Andrea turned around, the governor suddenly raised an eyebrow, fixed his gaze on Andrea, and then looked away to continue chatting with the residents in front of him.
Approaching Carol, Andrea looked at the cookies on the table in front of her and asked in a low, curious voice, "These are the cookies?"
Carol rolled her eyes at her, annoyed. "Can't you just pretend you don't know anything?"
Andrea chuckled twice, glanced around, and only when she realized no one was looking at her did she relax.
Carol was very diligent. Standing behind the table, she introduced the cookies to the curious residents who came by while tidying up the table.
The cookies looked even better after Carroll plated them.
Carol brought out a plate of cookies, a gentle smile playing on her lips. "Have a taste."
The two residents smiled as they took the cookies, popped them into their mouths, and exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, these cookies are delicious!"
"Excuse me, how did you do it?"
Carol shook her head. "It's a secret recipe. Eat as much as you like."
As she spoke, Carol pushed the cookie forward.
The crowd in front of the stall grew larger and larger, and Carole's cookies were snapped up.
Watching this scene, Andrea's gaze fell on Carol, whose expression remained unchanged, and she murmured, "It seems Carol is even better at disguising herself than I am."
