Li Haotian stopped in his tracks. He pointed the steel bar at Zhao Lin.

"Little girl, you've got some nerve," Li Haotian said. "You dare try to steal someone from me?"

Zhao Lin snorted coldly. She flicked her slender, soft sword. The sword emitted a soft "hum".

The soft sword emerged like a venomous snake from its hole. Its tip gleamed with an eerie light. It aimed straight for Li Haotian's throat.

Li Haotian didn't move. He gently flicked the steel bar in his hand. "Clang!" A crisp sound rang out.

The soft sword instantly twisted and deformed. The blade looked like a twisted rope.

Zhao Lin's expression changed slightly. Her wrist felt numb. "You!" Zhao Lin's eyes widened.

She hadn't expected Li Haotian to use only a single steel bar. Her soft sword was ruined.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Zhao Lin activated her bloodline ability. A purple light emanated from her body, enveloping her. Her speed increased dramatically.

Lin Mo's purple light shimmered around her. "Old Chen," Li Haotian said. He looked at Chen Dong.

"This little girl doesn't seem very honest," Li Haotian said again. "Let's take her with us too," he said, pointing to Zhao Lin.

"Okay," Chen Dong replied. He then directed the Dragon Shield team members to move forward.

The Dragon Shield team members were also shocked. They hadn't expected Zhao Lin to be subdued like that.

"Wait!" Zhao Zhong shouted again. His face was grim.

He looked at Zhao Lin, who was frozen in mid-air. He saw the purple light flashing in Lin Mo's eyes.

"That's it!" Zhao Zhong's body trembled. He wanted to say something.

But the purple light around Lin Mo flashed again. Zhao Zhong felt a chill. His body involuntarily retreated.

Li Haotian didn't turn around. He held Lin Mo's hand. "This little girl is definitely not honest," he said.

He walked towards Zhao Lin, who was frozen in place. He then lifted the bent steel bar.

The steel bar patted her face twice. "Is this melon guaranteed to be ripe?" Li Haotian asked.

"Even if we're not familiar with each other, we have to become familiar." His eyes remained expressionless.

Zhao Lin's bloodline power went out of control. Her body began to crack. Blood spurted from her mouth.

Her expression was contorted. Wisps of purple mist seeped from between her skin.

Lin Mo's purple light fluctuations intensified once more. Zhao Lin's body twisted.

She let out a muffled groan of pain. Purple veins bulged beneath her skin.

Li Haotian glanced at Zhao Lin. He said to Lin Mo, "Don't break it."

Li Haotian said, "She's still useful."

Lin Mo withdrew her power. She gently flicked her finger, and the purple light around Zhao Lin dissipated.

Zhao Lin collapsed to the ground like a lump of mud. Her eyes were filled with fear.

Zhao Lin was no longer arrogant at all. She looked at Li Haotian with a look of awe in her eyes.

A sob escaped from deep within her throat. Li Haotian turned to look at Chen Dong.

"An energy surge?" Li Haotian raised an eyebrow. He looked at Lin Mo. "What do you mean?"

A purple light flashed in Lin Mo's eyes. She looked up at the sky. "Those little insects seem even hungrier," she said.

"They're restless," Lin Mo added softly.

"Restlessness?" Li Haotian looked at the ruins. Wu Sen's presence was still underground.

"Su Wan, what level of energy surge is this?" Li Haotian asked.

"S-rank or higher," Su Wan reported. "Based on real-time data, this is an indication that some large-scale project has been initiated within the Pioneer Pharmaceuticals organization."

"Moreover," Su Wan paused, "the frequency and magnitude of the surge are higher than ever before."

"It seems this trash is more than just this," Li Haotian said. He looked at Lin Mo.

"Your little bugs are very active," he said.

Lin Mo nodded. She hugged Li Haotian tightly. "They're crying. And laughing at the same time."

"Crying and laughing at the same time?" Li Haotian frowned. "What does that mean?"

"Like a bunch of starving children," Lin Mo said.

Li Haotian was silent for a moment. He looked at Chen Dong. "Old Chen."

"You handle the aftermath," Li Haotian said. "Take all these people away."

"Including the Zhao family," Li Haotian added. "Especially that little girl."

Chen Dong nodded. "Don't worry, Brother Dazhu," he said.

Chen Dong saw the coldness in Li Haotian's eyes. He knew that this matter had gone beyond the ordinary.

"Su Wan, lock onto the location with the strongest energy surge," Li Haotian said.

"The strongest reaction is in the northern suburbs," Su Wan reported. "The energy level there even surpasses that of the laboratory where we initially discovered the core of the mother structure."

"Northern suburbs?" Li Haotian repeated. He remembered there was an abandoned cannery in the northern suburbs.

That place used to be Han Dehai's main stronghold. It was also a place he had dealt with before.

"Did they go back again?" Li Haotian asked.

"The possibility is very high," Su Wan said. "But this energy reaction far exceeds the scale of previous ones."

"What else is there?" Li Haotian asked.

"We can't know for sure right now," Su Wan said. "The signal is very erratic. It seems like something is interfering."

"I need your more precise coordinates," Li Haotian said, taking Lin Mo's hand in his.

He prepared to act again. Chen Dong stepped forward. "Brother Dazhu."

Li Haotian waved his hand. "No need," he said.

Li Haotian looked at the collapsed teaching building. Wu Sen was still underground.

"Wu Sen hasn't come out yet, right?" Li Haotian asked Su Wan.

"Still seventeen meters underground. The energy readings continue to climb," Su Wan reported.

Li Haotian led Lin Mo. He once again ventured deep into the ruins. The rubble and debris crunched underfoot.
