Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins

Chapter 146 An Alternative Migration

"I only realized how difficult it is to relocate a tribe today," Evita said softly, holding the tea in her hand.

"Oh, what's wrong?" Charles sat opposite her and looked up at her.

"I helped deliver a baby for a pregnant woman in the tribe today, I was just helping out." Evita's hooves trod lightly on the stone bricks, her voice tinged with melancholy. "I held the newborn of the tribe in my arms, he was just that big, a little bigger than a dog, but..."

She paused for a moment, then said softly, "If we had followed my original plan and recklessly dragged all the people of our tribe south, we would definitely have died on the way."

"I used to think my father was a rigid, inflexible person, but after seeing that newborn, I understand him a little better," she said, smiling as she listened to the shouts of her people in the distance. "He just didn't want anything to happen to his people, he didn't want his mother to lose her child, or his son to lose his mother."

"It has to be said that migration is a brutal elimination process for any species, and only the strongest can survive." Charles nodded. "Not to mention that you also have a powerful enemy watching you from all sides."

"You said before that you were guided south by a unicorn. Is it possible," he traced lines on his glass with his finger, "that your father was also guided?"

"My father?" Evita stared at the goblin in front of her, somewhat incredulous at what he was saying.

"I was just saying, but from the perspective of the tribal chief, you have already established your own base in the forest. You have your own herds of deer, your own hunting grounds, and you have gone to great lengths to cultivate tubers. Moreover," Sharl chuckled a few times, "you have also found an underground stone chamber and raised a group of mimics."

"Without knowing whether the future is bright, your father would never rashly abandon these things. That would be no different from abandoning the lives of his people. He could only try to send people to search, but those he sent out may have all met with misfortune."

"You mean my father, who also tried to..." Evita covered her mouth, staring wide-eyed at the goblin in front of her.

"I think if your father had wanted to stop it, that strong centaur last time would have been able to capture you and take you back." Charles turned to look outside the stone chamber. Right now, those centaurs were being led around the entire fortress area by Sancio. It has to be said that the little imp is far ahead of the curve when it comes to praising his older brother.

"If that's the case, then Brother Orec can indeed capture me and take me back." Evita's lips twitched slightly. She knew he was right; that centaur's forest tracking ability was no joke.

"So I think all that's missing now is an opportunity to persuade your father." Charles put down his teacup. "He won't rashly issue an order based on some vague tribal legend. We need to let him see, or let many people in your tribe see, the real situation."

"But even if we go back and tell him, and he believes us, we still need to move out at night. This will still cause quite a commotion and will alert the ogres and goblins." Evita shook her head; she felt that Charles was wrong.

"These are you," Charles pointed to the wooden cups on the table, then placed the small teapot beside them and began to demonstrate, "The ogre's stronghold is very close to the west."

"Yes." Evita frowned, a look of disgust on her face. Clearly, she had been there before, and the environment there was terrible.

"Then, based on what you said before, I think the goblin's stronghold should be here." Sharl picked up a small tin soldier that was being used as a decoration on the side of the table and placed it on the "west" side of the teapot.

"They are very close to you, but what if," he dipped his finger in tea and drew a circle on the rim of his cup, "you could get directly to this fortress from here?"

"You mean..." Evita stared intently at the ring of water stains.

"You used the portal when you went to the Treant territory before, right?" Charles asked with a smile, then picked up his teacup and took a sip with an air of nonchalance.

"I've used it, but wasn't it built by that witch sorcerer?" Evita asked doubtfully. She had indeed experienced a portal before, and it was the first time in her life that she had such an experience. She even thought that this thing must be very difficult to build, and perhaps it was something that originally existed in this underground fortress.

"They're not difficult to build; they can even be assembled with simple stitching." Charles nodded, smiling very "gentlemanly." "I have several in stock."

"So you want to build a portal in our village and then teleport all the centaurs here?" Evita exclaimed in surprise. The other party had only told her to go back and tell her father to organize the supplies, but had not told her to "migrate" in this way.

"Yes, but this will require you to abandon those thatched huts, and you won't be able to take the roots planted on the ground with you." Sharl pointed to the outside of the stone chamber. "There is still a lot of space here where you can live temporarily. If the centaurs don't like living underground like we do, you can build your own little houses around the fortress exit after you've settled down."

"Moreover, I have little fairies here who can help you plant those tubers. I think they will grow even better. You don't need to worry about the upheaval caused by the relocation. My clan still has a lot of food stored up, which may help you get through this difficult time."

With a "I'm a nice guy" expression, Charles was currently planning how to bring all these centaurs under his control. These guys were not only excellent archers, but they could also build villages at the entrance of the fortress, which would effectively improve the fortress's security.

"It only takes one night. If you're quick, you can finish moving everything in no time." He held up one finger, then added casually, "You can even move those white stones you used to weigh down the corners of the thatched huts."

"This method seems..." Evita lowered her head and pondered for a few seconds, then looked up and asked, "Won't those ogres also come through the portal?"

"No," Charles laughed a few times, "they don't know how to operate it, so they can't use the portal at all."

"Okay, I think this method is feasible." Evita nodded vigorously. She was very fortunate to have met Ciel. This method was simply unbelievable. It was a "migration" plan that she had never even thought of. She even felt that only the goblins on the other side could come up with such an efficient and convenient way of moving.

"By the way, I wanted to ask," Charles picked up the little tin soldier on the table and played with it, "has there ever been a case of a unicorn disappearing in your tribe's history?"

"Uh," Evita thought for a moment, then shook her head, "No, I've never heard of a unicorn coming to the village if it makes any unusual movements, or guiding us with its own consciousness."

"Oh, it's nothing," Charles said casually. He didn't say what he meant by the following sentence: he thought that the unicorn's direct journey south to find him might be related to his previous choice of "the blessing of the god of earth and life."

"But not necessarily." He muttered to himself, after all, the mother tree had been informed by the "Whispers of the Forest" that it had sent a tree-man to find him.

"I feel like this forest is alive." Charles looked up at the ceiling, where the blue glowing mushrooms looked like they were growing really well.

"In that case, I'll go find them," Evita said, putting down her teacup. "I'll take my people to experience the portal a few more times, and then I'll tell Brother Orek about this method."

"Alright, I'll have my men build a portal for you so you can see how convenient it is." Charles jumped off his chair, ready to have One-Eye start the construction.

…………

"Are you digging for tubers?" Goblin Scar paced back and forth in the centaur village with his hands behind his back, casually asking as he looked at the wicker baskets the centaurs had placed on the ground.

"Yes, Your Excellency," the centaur chieftain replied cautiously, while several of his men pulled away one of the centaurs. "The General has ordered us to provide supplies, we..."

He paused, a look of struggle on his face, "We will definitely comply."

"Hmm," Three Scars arrogantly glanced at the centaurs. Although they were all taller than him and could even charge over and trample him to death, they dared not speak out. Moreover, the centaur chieftain could only humbly fawn over him, which gave him immense satisfaction. "Bring over another large antler deer, not the small ones."

He waved his hand, not even glancing at the centaur chieftain, and simply gave him a very firm command. Three Scars knew what these centaurs were afraid of, but as long as he had ogres and the Felthroat Army standing behind him, he could enjoy a delicious meal of boiled venison, which was much tastier than boiled rats.

Finally, having gotten rid of the disgusting goblin, the centaur chieftain urged everyone to continue digging for tubers, to dig up as many as they could. Then he looked west, where the goblins and ogres gradually disappeared into the forest. He narrowed his eyes for a moment, then walked into the thatched hut. "You've all experienced that portal firsthand?"

"Yes, Chieftain," Orek said, and the centaurs around him nodded in unison.

Then the centaur chieftain thought for a moment, took out a charcoal pencil and wrote a few words on a piece of paper, then looked at Evita standing in the corner.

"I've already instructed everyone to speed up the collection of supplies and take as much as possible with them." The chieftain walked towards Evita and then patted her head.

Then Evita took out a small bronze bell, and after ringing it, a black astral rift appeared in the middle of the hut, followed by a huge astral hound appearing in front of the centaur.

Evita handed over the note and then said:

"We'll be ready soon to deliver this to your master."
