Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins

Chapter 147 The Escape Begins

"You've come in person?" The centaur chieftain greeted Sharl with delight, while also glancing at the troops behind him.

"Yeah, I don't feel comfortable letting them come," Charles said with a smile. Then he noticed the other person's gaze and looked back. Behind him were five goblins, one troll, and two worker ants carrying cargo boxes.

"Let's go to the underground chamber first." He ignored the shocked gazes of the centaurs around him, and instead ordered Cao Cao to take the portal components off the cargo box while looking around.

When Lupus returned today, he received a note from the other party, informing him that the operation was tonight, and the sooner the better.

So he immediately ordered a few of his men and headed north. Thanks to Broken Tooth having followed Evita along this route before, they bypassed the ogres without incident and arrived directly at the centaur village.

Throughout the journey, Charles held onto the compass, fearing he might go astray. Fortunately, there were hidden markings made by Aurelius along the way.

"These must be the pure white stones in the warehouse." Charles deliberately took a few steps back to make room for the people unloading the goods. Then he approached a thatched hut and looked at the stones on the ground used to secure the wooden poles.

There are many of these stones; the thatched hut in front of us has at least seven of them, and there are many more centaurs with similar thatched huts.

"This number is enough for me to build many portals." He was secretly pleased, and then casually wandered around the village.

"Boss, we've taken them all," the buck-toothed man said as he walked over.

"Alright, let's go into the stone chamber." Upon hearing this, Charles immediately followed the centaur chieftain into the village, and soon an entrance to an underground passage appeared before him.

The group entered the stone chamber carrying torches. Charles stared blankly at his surroundings, never expecting that the centaurs had turned this place into a "pig farm".

The entire stone chamber was divided into small squares, with white stone walls in the middle. In each square, "wooden boxes" were placed quietly against the wall. If one did not know beforehand that they were mimicry monsters, Sharl would have thought that these centaurs had a lot of belongings.

"Are there more than 30 mimics here?" He turned to ask the centaur chieftain.

"Yes, that's right." Evita's father said with a hint of pride. When Evita came back before, she told him that the goblin tribe needed a lot of oil and they were willing to trade these mimics with the centaurs.

If the Shire's tribe had simply offered to rescue the centaurs, he would have been somewhat wary of these goblins. But now that they had not only made a deal but also offered a hefty price, he felt much more at ease. After all, no one would willingly help others in the forest if there were no benefits to be had.

"Not bad, you've raised them very well." Charles leaned against the wall, watching the mimics with great interest. He had already had One-Eye and his men renovate the fortress, expanding the room where they used to raise slimes to build a breeding base for mimics. He also planned to expand the breeding scale and build a huge mimic farm in the future, so that there would be no shortage of oil.

"There will be plenty of oil to use in the future. Not only can we eat it, but we can also use it to maintain weapons. I'll also ask Agatha Christie how to make soap with oil." He wandered through each of the small cubicles, planning the future applications of oil.

"Chief, it's all set up." Bucktooth came to his side and said softly. Before they came out, Charles had strictly forbidden him from writing poetry, or else he would be thrown into the mimicry monster pile. Now it seemed that he had clearly remembered it.

"Evita," Charles smiled and beckoned to the centaur chieftain's daughter behind him, "You go first. Agatha is there to meet you. According to our previous plan, you need to immediately establish a passageway in the fortress."

"Okay." Evita walked over and glanced at her father. Encouraged by his gaze, she immediately called a few of her companions and stepped into the portal.

Broken Tooth stood beside the controller and moved it forcefully. In the blink of an eye, the centaurs shrank into a white dot and then disappeared.

Several centaurs around him let out low cries of surprise, and the centaur chieftain also took two steps back in astonishment. Although Evita and the others had introduced him to the wonders of the portal several times before, he was still shocked when he actually saw it.

"Don't worry, they've already arrived over there," Charles said with a smile. "Let's move these mimics over first, so we can make room here."

He soon saw how the centaurs dealt with these "forest fat boars." The centaurs had fed them sleeping herbs beforehand, and now all they had to do was tie them up with ropes, carry them out one by one, and put them into the portal.

Each time the teleportation is completed, another batch will be sent over once the fortress has finished processing the situation and we receive the message. Inside the fortress, the goblins are quickly carrying these mimics into the stone chamber and placing them there. For now, they can only be placed against the wall. The specific arrangements will have to wait for Sharl to return and make plans.

Before leaving the fortress today, Sharl specially gave all the goblins honey water infused with Red Bull, which resulted in each goblin remaining incredibly energetic even at night, their eyes practically bulging like copper bells.

Moreover, the little fairies and Furu were mobilized by Sharl. The little fairies helped with directions, while the Furu acted as a communication platform. For this operation, Sharl promised the Furu a lot of beautiful white seashells as "overtime pay".

"Alright, let's start transporting the people now," Sharl glanced around the stone chamber, then held out his hand, signaling to the centaur chieftain that he could take command.

As several centaurs nervously stepped into the stone ring on the ground, the first group of centaurs were teleported there.

They were accompanied by supplies, with each centaur carrying packages of various sizes.

He ignored the centaurs and instead carried his torch to the wall of the stone chamber. He had noticed something on the wall earlier, but hadn't paid close attention because he was transporting the mimicry monster.

This is a giant stone sculpture, or rather a painting. Charles walked along the wall with his head up. The painting almost occupied the entire wall and was divided into four parts, which seemed to depict four cities.

The first painting by Charles is very familiar; the city in the painting looks like it's floating in the air, which is very similar to a stone carving in the stone chamber where Little Claw is brewing medicine.

The second image depicts a city nestled in a lush forest, with scenes of various races strolling and shopping peacefully, including centaurs, lizardmen, and gnolls.

The third painting appears to depict the seabed, with many people living underwater and numerous fish and other marine life above their heads.

The last painting is even more interesting. The city's surroundings are not visible; all that can be seen in the painting are towering furnaces, various mechanical creations, and many large mechanical components.

"What is this?" Charles walked to the other side of the wall, then turned back to look at the entire carving. "The Lost City?"

He shook his head and smiled bitterly. Could these be enormous cities built by ancient races? But he had never heard of these cities floating in the sky or hidden in the water, which meant that these cities must have been destroyed.

"These ancient people seem to have a high level of technology," he said, carefully examining the fourth painting. "I just wonder how it compares to now. I've heard that the dwarves in the northern mountains have built a huge mountain kingdom. I wonder if it's like this there."

"Thousands of years have passed, and the world has changed beyond recognition. I wonder what they've left behind," Charles remarked with a sigh. "If Agatha had come along, she would have been overjoyed."

Then, he glanced at the centaurs who were retreating in an orderly manner. Seeing that they were alright, he continued to explore along the wall. Because the stone chamber had many "pig-raising" squares, he had to go around several low walls.

The centaurs paid no attention to the goblin holding a torch by the wall; they were lining up to enter the stone circle.

Several newborn centaur children cried loudly during the event.

…………

"Why does it sound like crying?" Three-Scar secretly crouched down in the bushes.

He came to check on the centaur village and see if he could get some tubers to take back and eat. During the day, he saw the centaurs digging around the village.

He didn't get to eat much of the deer; most of it was devoured by the ogres. Although he was nominally the warlord, the ogres weren't really willing to listen to him. He was only in charge of the title of General Evilthroat. If he didn't have that title, he probably would have been stewed by those ogres long ago.

Previously, General Evilthroat had ordered him to keep a close eye on the movements of the centaur tribe, especially to be careful of their escape at night, which is why Threescar recently came to spy around the centaur village.

This was no problem for him, as it was much simpler than his previous nighttime escapades at the Evil Throat Army's base to steal food.

However, he found it strange tonight. Not only were the giant deer much more behaving, but there were also a few cries coming from the centaur village, which hadn't been heard much in the previous few days.

Three-Scar carefully huddled in the corner of the thatched hut, peering into the middle of the village. Several times he retreated to avoid the patrolling centaurs.

"The patrols seem much tighter today than before," he muttered, "like those goblins patrolling around the Evilthroat Food Warehouse."

Immediately afterwards, he saw several centaurs carrying things out of the thatched hut and then gathering in the middle of the village.

"Why are they all running towards the middle? Are they plotting something?" Scarface became alert, then he secretly retreated, trying to avoid being discovered by the patrolling centaurs.

"I need to report this quickly; these guys are suspicious." He left the village and ran quickly toward the ogre camp, already imagining the scene of General Evilthroat promoting him.
