Chapter 32 The Necromancer

"Beware of the stench that may emanate from the zombies; it's poisonous!"

Linsel's rusty dagger pierced the seams of the chainmail, and together with "Goat's" dagger, it stabbed and cut, slowly destroying the zombie's flesh.

The zombie suddenly spat out a cloud of blackish-gray foul odor.

Linssey and his three companions stepped back and waited for the stench to dissipate before removing their armor again.

As the wounds increase and deepen, the zombie's vitality gradually weakens.

When Lindsay saw the zombie's health bar drop to 0, it suddenly returned to 16.

This seems to have triggered [zombie not dead], which is really troublesome.

It took another minute or two, and three or four more times of dodging the poison gas, to finally defeat the zombie.

The four of them breathed a sigh of relief.

"Broken Arrow" kept his distance from the zombie's body: "This stench is truly disgusting. Just a whiff of it makes all the food I ate today seem like a waste."

Leon wiped his sweat: "Is the stench really that terrible?"

"If you're careful, there won't be any problems, but if you unfortunately inhale too much and get severely poisoned, it will be troublesome."

"Goat" stripped the chainmail off the zombie's body.

"This chainmail is pretty good. After some repairs, cleaning, and maintenance, it'll be brand new. It could even fetch more than 10 silver coins."

"Broken Arrow" was somewhat dissatisfied: "So, are you planning to sell it and split the money, or do you want to keep it all for yourself?"

"Goat" stroked the iron rings on the chainmail shirt with his hand, his eyes clearly showing some reluctance.

"Fine, let's just sell it. Things from a dead person... are not very auspicious after all."

"That's more like it. We can buy them when we have more money later." "Broken Arrow" said, as he began to collect the arrows he had shot earlier.

Lindsay did not speak; his gaze swept around.

The air around the cemetery suddenly began to turn murky white, as if fog had rolled in.

The air was filled with a nauseating stench of decay.

What's going on?

Linssey spoke, his voice low: "Something's not right."

"This fog... Oh no, it might be a necromancer!"

"Goat" lowered his voice and then beckoned Lindsay and the other two to gather together.

"Let's hurry up and keep our voices down; necromancers are a real pain to deal with."

A crisp snap, like a dry branch being broken by a foot.

Lyon suddenly lowered his head.

The withered hand of the zombie corpse, whose chainmail had just been stripped off, was gripping his ankle tightly.

The wounds in the torso began to heal, and the body, in a violent convulsion, attempted to stand up again.

"Is this dead man still alive?" Leon kicked him hard.

But this is only the beginning.

Click, click, click.

The few zombies they had killed earlier, except for the headless one, all slowly stood up like marionettes, their bodies twisting eerily.

"The necromancer has discovered us! He's resurrecting the dead!"

Linsset seemed to hear a rustling chanting sound coming from somewhere on the stone wall of the cemetery not far to the north.

However, through the thin mist, only a blurry shadow could be seen there.

Information appeared on the front panel.

[xxx, Human, Level 1 Necromancer, Health: 40/40, Armor: 40 (Fur Coat)]

He was both a professional and a mage; this was the first time Linssey had encountered a mage.

"Over there!"

Linsel pointed his sword, "That dark figure behind the stone wall is the necromancer!"

Before he could finish speaking, the guy behind the stone wall seemed to have noticed Lindsay's gaze.

A hoarse, low chanting voice pierced through the mist and drifted over.

"Let's get out of here quickly. It's foggy now, and it's going to be really difficult to fight these necromancers."

"Goat" had already taken off, and the other three, including Lindsay, were also running south towards the town without looking back.

The necromancer is still human, after all. Killing him won't grant you monster abilities. Now that the mission is complete, returning is the best option.

However, at the same time, one of the zombies suddenly became incredibly fast.

Its eyes gleamed with an eerie red light as it chased after Lindsay and his companions.

"Be careful!"

"Broken Arrow" turned around and casually shot with his longbow.

The arrow flew toward the red-eyed zombie, but the zombie tilted its head to one side, a full ninety degrees, dodging the arrow that should have hit its head.

He spat, "Damn it, this zombie's been possessed by necromancy!"

The red-eyed zombie let out a sharp roar, its legs slamming into the ground as it lunged at Leon, who was running behind it.

"Ah ah..."

Lyon only had time to raise his wooden shield.

Boom!

The impact was so great that Leon was thrown to one side and fell to the ground.

He was still holding the shield, the red-eyed zombie clinging to it with immense strength, its withered hands scratching wildly.

"Help me!"

Linsset stopped in his tracks.

He took a deep breath and aimed his left hand at the red-eyed zombie that was about to break through Leon's shield.

A flame gathers in the palm of the hand and is launched.

Flame Arrow!

The orange-red flames shot towards the red-eyed zombie and exploded on its face.

"Leon, run!"

The zombie's head burst into flames, and Leon seized the opportunity to scramble to his feet and escape quickly.

"Lince, you actually know magic?"

It was the sound of a "goat," and he was clearly utterly shocked.

"Lince, I didn't expect you to be a spellcaster..."

"Broken Arrow" was also completely bewildered, but he didn't have time to understand the situation right now.

Lindsay's left hand moved forward, aiming at the red-eyed zombie as he continued firing.

Flame Arrow!

"You guys run first, I'll hold it off. I haven't retrieved my spear yet!"
