Chapter 35 Adjustment

Lindsay glanced at the task.

--------

Mission: Clear out the unknown monsters in the sewers of Linchui Town and bring back at least 10 pieces of evidence (Black Iron grade). Deadline: 5 days.

Rewards: 5 silver coins and 6 points per person; each item can be exchanged for 20 copper coins.

Note: Some unsettling noises have recently been heard coming from the sewers of Linchui Town. These are caused by some monsters. Please go and eliminate them to reduce their numbers!

--------

Evidence is something that can prove that a monster was killed, usually a part of the body, like a goblin's left ear.

It's another mission that requires fighting in the sewers, and what you're supposed to kill is still unknown.

Lindsay recalled the drowned corpse and the robbers he had encountered in the sewers last time.

I really don't know what I'll encounter if I accept this mission. It might be new monsters, but more than that, I'm filled with fear of the unknown.

"Broken Arrow": "A sewer cleaning mission? Not a good idea."

"In the sewers, where the terrain is narrow and dark, it's difficult to use ranged weapons, and you have to carry torches."

Even the specific enemies to be dealt with weren't specified in the quest log, but they were usually giant rats or drowned water ghosts, so the enemies shouldn't be too strong. The guild's quest ratings were usually quite reasonable.

"Goat" analyzed, then turned to look at Lindsay.

"This mission is indeed troublesome, Lindsay. 'Broken Arrow' and I are considering abandoning it. You decide."

Lindsay thought for a while.

"Then let's not do it."

The goat's eyes swept over the remaining two tasks.

"There's one bronze-level quest left in the quest log. Considering you're still only iron-level, I'll skip it for now. Of course, there's also that silver-level quest that's been sitting there for over two months."

Last time, the Silver-ranked [Iron Fang] squad passed through Linchui Town, they probably thought there was no need to do anything and ignored it, and no one has dared to touch it since.

Linsel glanced at the silver-level mission.

--------

Mission: Venture deep into the Twilight Forest to retrieve the mayor's lost briefcase. Silver rank, valid indefinitely.

Compensation: 80 silver coins and 35 points per person.

Note: The mayor's precious safe has been stolen by the Vulture Clan! After much inquiry, it has been confirmed that the safe has fallen into the hands of a savage with the Druid class, deep within Duskwood. Please find the safe and bring it back!

--------

The rewards and points are high, but just by looking at the task, you can tell it's going to be a hassle.

In the original owner's memories, the terrain deep in the Twilight Forest was complex and extremely dangerous, a fact known to every resident of Linchui Town.

Most adventurers only venture to the outer edges of the forest; no one dares to venture deep into it.

Not only is the terrain complex, but more importantly, you have to spend the night inside, and it can take several days to get back, not to mention you might have to fight druids.

"Just take a look at this silver-level mission."

Lindsay then looked at his two teammates and said, "Let's disband for today. See you at the guild tavern tomorrow morning..."

"Wait a minute, Captain. If you're free this afternoon, why don't you come to the guild training camp? We can each familiarize ourselves with our combat abilities and practice our teamwork. 'Goat,' you come too."

Lindsay had no objection to the suggestion, but what the middle-aged adventurer said next surprised him.

"Goat" scratched his head: "Ah, okay, but I won't be able to go over until later this afternoon. I need to check on my son."

Son? This was something Linsel hadn't expected; this middle-aged adventurer actually had a family.

"Goat, you have a son now? Tell us about it."

"Ugh, don't even mention it," "Goat" gave a wry smile. "More than ten years ago, an accident happened, and I had a child with a female adventurer."

She was a teammate in a temporary squad at the time, and I had no idea she was pregnant, even though she was the kind of person who loved adventure.

A few years later, one day I found her bringing a little boy to my house, dumping him on me and leaving. She never came back, so I had no choice but to raise him.

"Broken Arrow" chuckled to himself, "Captain Lindsay, I've met his son. He's quite talented; he's an apprentice at the alchemy shop in town now."

Lindsay touched his nose.

"Goat," I hope you won't mind what I say, but is your son really your son?

"The Goat" said proudly, "Absolutely! She's a brown-haired half-elf, I'm black-haired, and my son's hair is a bit brownish."

And the most direct evidence is that he has pointed ears, indicating he has elven blood.

Half-elf? Lindsay was a little curious. He had never seen what a half-elf looked like before. He would have to go and see for himself next time he had the chance.

"Alright, then come over early this afternoon..."

He suddenly remembered something else.

"Also, when you introduce me to others, please don't say that I know magic. I hope to keep a low profile for a while longer."

"Goat" and "Broken Arrow" assured everyone: "No problem."

……

Noon passed quickly, and Linssey arrived at the guild training camp.

He opened the panel for the first time in a long time.

Amidst the sounds of training and battle cries echoing throughout the camp, "Broken Arrow" was already waiting for him.

Instructor Rhodes saw Lindsay walk through the gate and came over to greet him.

"Linse, kid, I didn't expect you to be so unrecognizable after just a few days! Your wolf head combined with an iron helmet looks quite convincing."

Lindsay replied with a smile, "Hello, instructor! Your training course is extremely useful; I've benefited greatly!"

"Instructor Rhodes, do you remember me? The blue-haired lad who trained under you two years ago."

Rod turned his head to look.

"You are... oh, Brinnan, the young man who broke two training bows back then? You're already a Bronze-level adventurer, not bad!"

"In the past two years, I went to Wind City, then to the south, and now I'm back in Forest Town, and I've joined a full squad."

"Okay, okay..."

The two chatted for a while, and then "Goat" arrived at the camp.

"Broken Arrow" draws up the longbow.

"Now that everyone's here, let's begin. I'll show you what I'm good at."
