Chapter 74 Wind and City

What kind of city is Wind and City?

Linsel felt that the city, judging from its name, seemed to be enveloped in a melodious atmosphere, filled with beautiful and moving stories and legends about the city.

Faced with Lindsay's curious question, "Broken Arrow" recalled something.

"Well, because it's a large city in the southwest of the Golden Lion Kingdom, and it's also close to the Eternal Forest where the elves live, you can see many things related to elves in the city."

However, it's not that close; the journey is still several hundred kilometers. It would be extremely difficult for humans to reach the Everlasting Forest, as it's easy to get lost without guidance.

I seem to have gone a bit off-topic... As for the rest, I can't describe it either. You'll experience it for yourself once you enter the city, Captain.

The carriage continued its steady advance, and just as "Broken Arrow" had said, a city came into view after more than an hour.

The outer city wall of Wind and City is a stone wall about ten meters high, with uniquely shaped white pointed towers at the left and right corners.

The outer perimeter of the city extends for hundreds of meters, consisting of makeshift bungalows and thatched huts, as well as temporary structures like tents.

"It seems like people live outside this city?"

"Yes." The sword and shield Iron-rank adventurer, who hadn't said much until now, answered Lindsay's question.

"This is a refugee area, mostly refugees who fled from various places but could not enter the city. So they simply settled outside the city, which is why it looks like this."

Lindsay's beautiful fantasy about the wind and the city was shattered at this point.

"This is such an eyesore for the city! And living outside the city is too dangerous. Don't the noble lords care about this?"

"The area around Wind and City is perfectly safe. As for the nobles' thoughts, that's none of our concern as adventurers from the lower realms. In short, once we cross this refugee zone, we'll be considered to have reached Wind and City, and our mission will be complete!"

The convoy drove along the road into the refugee area on the outskirts of the city. Lindsay saw refugees dressed in tattered clothes on both sides of the road.

Some people set up stalls in front of temporary houses and tents on both sides of the road, including a few "little people" who were selling everyday items and trinkets to passersby. Of course, most of the refugees were begging along the street.

Linssey opened the panel to take a look.

It's a halfling.

Suddenly, the horses in the carriage ahead neighed and slowed down, which caused the carriages behind to slow down as well.

Linsset looked out the side of the carriage and saw several fearless refugees blocking the front of the first carriage.

Meanwhile, other refugees appeared at the rear of the convoy, near the cargo wagons. They approached the cargo wagons, attempting to rummage through them and steal some items.

"Get out of my way, or you'll die!"

The caravan guards, sitting on the cargo wagons at the back, used their spears to warn and shout, slightly stopping the refugees whose hands weren't very clean, but they still followed behind.

Lindsay saw that on the leader's carriage ahead, the caravan leader Kent was cracking his whip, also driving away the refugees blocking the road.

After a few dozen seconds, the refugees were finally driven to the side, and the speed of the carriage returned to normal.

The caravan then arrived at the north gate of Wind and City, where the caravan guards disembarked and began unloading the goods.

The caravan leader, Kent, approached the adventurers: "Thank you, 'Wolf Slayer' and 'Broken Arrow,' and thank you to the other three Iron-rank adventurers who escorted us all the way."

We'll be returning to Linchui Town with the goods in a few days. If you need any more escort missions, you can pick them up from the Adventurers' Guild!

"Alright, goodbye, Mr. Kent." Lindsay said goodbye to him and walked towards the north gate of the city with "Broken Arrow".

The city gate of Wind and City was several sizes larger than that of Linchui Town. At this moment, several guards standing in front of the gate stopped them: "Who are you?"

"We are adventurers." "Broken Arrow" pointed to the bronze adventurer's nameplate on his chest.

The guards approached and inspected the room. "It's fine, go in!"

Linssay and "Broken Arrow" successfully entered Wind and City. The city was bustling with activity, with houses lining both sides of the streets, cars and pedestrians coming and going.

Lindsay not only saw ordinary humans by the roadside, but also other races, including several dwarves and halflings. He even spotted two white-haired, pointed-eared half-elves.

As expected of a big city, the population seems to be more than ten times that of Linchui Town.

As Lindsay walked down the street, his outfit quickly attracted the attention of passersby, but most people only glanced at him and then lost interest.

Two half-human children, a boy and a girl, ran ahead of Linsset, looking up at him and laughing.

"It's a werewolf!"

A halfling couple dressed in brightly colored civilian clothes came over and hugged the child.

"The child is just being silly and playing around, please... forgive him, adventurer!"

Linsset waved casually to indicate that he was alright, and then continued walking forward with "Broken Arrow".

"Brinan, where is the Adventurers' Guild of Wind and City?"

"It's at the intersection ahead, turn left."

A patrol of guards in standard chainmail passed by Linssé and his companion. Then, as they turned the corner, they could see a three-story white stone building in the distance.

"See this building? That's the Adventurers' Guild."

Above the entrance to the Adventurers' Guild was a huge iron model of a sword and staff crossed. As Linsel and his companion entered the guild, they were greeted by an extremely spacious hall.

There are several counters directly in front of the lobby, with a female staff member sitting behind each counter, separated from each other by partitions.

To the left of the hall are chairs and tables, providing a place for adventurers to rest temporarily; to the right is the quest board; and further to the left, in the corner, is the staircase leading to the second floor.

There are quite a few people in the Adventurers' Guild Hall of Wind and City right now, mostly Iron and Bronze level adventurers. They are gathered under the quest board, and some are queuing in front of the counter. Of course, there are also a few Silver level adventurers with good equipment.

Lindsay approached the crowd gathered around the task board, observing the various tasks displayed there.

There aren't many missions, only a dozen or so. You can hardly see any Porcelain-level adventurer missions; most are Iron-level, Bronze-level, and there are also some Silver-level ones.

There's a Gold-tier quest! Quest: Go to the primeval forest between Wind City and Everlasting Forest... I'm not going to look at it, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with me.

At this moment, Lindsay felt a little hungry.

"Is there a tavern nearby? Where are we going to stay for a while?" he asked his teammate "Broken Arrow" behind him.

"Yes, there is. It's right across from the guild. All the shops on this block of Adventurers' Guild cater to adventurers."
