Archer's Adventure Manual
Chapter 019: Hunting a Wild Rabbit
A hunting party of several dozen people set off for Luoxi Village.
Luoxi Village is a village near Luoyan Town. The village is required to pay a certain amount of tax to the Warren nobles of Luoyan Town on a regular basis.
The Warren nobles are responsible for maintaining the safety of Fall Creek Village.
For example, the cost of commissions such as helping to eradicate rabbits was entirely borne by the Warren nobles.
Stepping back into this lush, green wilderness, Loran's heart pounded with apprehension. All the strange things that had happened here, including his time travel...
But he knew he couldn't stay cooped up in Rockfall Town forever; otherwise, he would never grow and would never be able to take control of his own life.
Adventure Handbook.
Loran summoned the illusory image of the Adventure Handbook, observing the dangers that could strike at any moment.
Compared to the nervous Loran, Lin Wen seemed quite relaxed, looking around as if he were on a picnic.
Turning his head, Lin Wen saw Loran looking anxious and squeezed Loran's shoulder. "Hey, you seem pretty uncomfortable. What happened? Still thinking about that pretty girl from the Blade of Valor?"
Lorraine's face darkened, and she said speechlessly, "Yes, yes, you're right."
"Hehe, I knew it, but it's understandable, it's only human nature!" Lin Wen chuckled.
Loran glanced at Noah out of the corner of his eye and noticed that this big guy was similar to Lin Wen, also observing the surrounding environment, but there were some differences.
Lin Wen's observation might be about admiring the scenery, while Noah's observation seems more like analyzing the environment.
"Could he be trying to create an environment where people can kill?" Loran wondered to himself, keeping a watchful eye on things.
This hunt is exhausting! Not only do I have to be wary of the dangers in the wild, but I also have to watch out for that tall guy with the greatsword next to me... Loran feels his chances of survival are plummeting...
Fortunately, everything went smoothly on the way to Fall Creek Village. Apart from encountering a few goblins, there were no other monsters.
Dozens of people facing a few goblins could be riddled with arrows, let alone pose a threat to the team.
Loran also wanted to draw his bow and shoot arrows, but the others were too fast, and he couldn't get any kills at all. Several adventure points just disappeared like that.
An hour later, the group arrived at Luoxi Village.
The village chief of Luoxi Village came out to warmly welcome the adventurers.
Vance chatted with the village chief of Luoxi Village for a few minutes and learned the approximate location.
The main group followed Vance to a large area of farmland. Near the farmland was a flat area with many rabbit holes that could be clearly seen.
"Alright, everyone, split up and start hunting rabbits! Hunt begins!" Vance shouted.
Wild rabbits are a major headache for every village. They reproduce incredibly fast, have a short development period, are agile, and are difficult to catch.
The hunting commissions that have been issued are almost becoming weekly refreshed tasks.
Experienced adventurers have also developed many ways to catch rabbits.
"Hehe, it's time to show off our skills! Come on, let Brian crawl inside, and we'll block these rabbits at the entrance!"
Lin Wen pointed to a rabbit hole and said to Luo Lan.
Lorraine thought it made sense, so he pointed to the hole and told Brian to crawl in.
As a former hunting dog, Brian understood what Loran meant, shrank back, and crawled inside.
These rabbits are larger than those on Earth, and the burrows they dug are also much larger, so even someone of Brian's size can squeeze in.
The three of them, Lorraine, waited at the nearby entrances of the burrows, hoping Brian would drive the rabbits out.
Soon, news came from Lin Wen's side.
A rabbit darted out of its burrow, trying to escape, but Lin Wen reacted swiftly, stabbing the rabbit hard with a dagger and pinning it firmly to the ground.
Another rabbit tried to escape after him, but Lin Wen kicked it into the air, sending it crashing to the ground and rendering it unable to move.
Loran was dumbfounded. This woman didn't look like much, so how could she be so strong?! She kicked the rabbit so high!
Shaking his head, Loran gripped the bow tightly, waiting for the hare in his burrow.
He saw a rabbit's head dart out in a flash. Before he could react, the rabbit swept past his feet and was about to run away into the distance.
"call out!"
The arrow struck, piercing the rabbit's belly with a soft thud, staining its gray fur with a splash of bright red.
Loran breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, he had practiced archery these past few days, so he was still able to hit the small moving target with difficulty.
After killing the rabbit, Loran summoned the illusory image of the Adventure Handbook to check the situation.
"Battle Guide: Your companion 'Linwen' has killed a hare, gaining 0.5 Adventure Points; What a brilliant strike! | Unlocks the skill 'Shadow Ambush'"
Skill - Shadow Ambush lv.1 (Unlocked at 20 Adventure Points): Vanish into the shadows for 0.5 seconds, then launch an ambush.
"Battle Guide: Your companion 'Lin Wen' has killed 1 rabbit, Adventure Points +0.5"
"Combat Guide: Your companion 'Brian' kills 1 hare, Adventure Points +0.5 | Unlocks the skill 'Bite'"
Skill - Tear Lv.1 (Unlocked at 20 Adventure Points): Uses sharp teeth to inflict tearing damage on enemies.
"Combat Guide: You have killed 1 hare, Adventure Points +0.5"
Wait a minute, something's not right! How did Lin Wen become his partner? Wasn't it supposed to be just Brian?
However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Lin Wen helps kill the rabbit, and Lin Wen can also gain adventure points, which is quite nice.
Loran also discovered something peculiar: if he killed a hare, he would gain a corresponding skill.
If Lin Wen and Brian killed the rabbit themselves, then the corresponding skills would also match theirs.
Loran recalled the Bonds page feature in the Adventure Handbook, which could subtly imbue creatures on the Bonds page with skills or talents...
Does this mean that he can secretly teach his partners some skills to improve the team's overall strength?
Although his current adventure points don't support him doing this, what if he gets more adventure points in the future?
Then he could form an adventurer team, secretly improve the strength of his teammates, enhance the overall strength of the team, and be more at ease when facing more threats.
Alternatively, he can find teammates with high compatibility, unlock their powerful skills, and let him unlock and use them himself.
In short, this is a very powerful feature, but it also depends on how it is used.
At present, Loran still needs to meet his own combat power requirements first.
"Snap!" The vines wrapped around the greatsword were untied, and Noah slammed it down, turning a rabbit in front of him into a "rabbit pancake," demonstrating terrifying power.
"Battle Guide: Your companion 'Noah' kills 1 hare, Adventure Points +0.5 | Unlocks the talent 'Strength Amplification'"
Talent - Strength Boost lv.1 (Unlocked at 20 Adventure Points): Increases your strength by 5%.
Huh? Noah has partner bonds too?!
