Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 039: Shy Finita

Seeing Loran making rapid progress beside her, Finita couldn't help but feel anxious. She had tried countless times, but still couldn't release the magic.

Unable to cast spells meant she couldn't practice, and she was stuck in the same place...

Seemingly sensing Finita's distress, Lena went over to comfort her, saying, "Finita, don't worry, take your time. Magic is currently the skill with the highest barrier to entry; it's not something you can master overnight."

"But believe me, as long as you keep at it, you will succeed one day! Let me analyze some of the problems I've noticed in you so far."

Brian was running around on the training field, seemingly aware of what Loran and the others were doing, and he also tried to train himself.

It kept circling the scarecrow, and then, seizing the opportunity, suddenly bit the scarecrow's buttocks.

Uh, I don't know why this guy is so obsessed with butts.

In short, Brian is also trying to grow himself.

Lena saw all of this and would occasionally give Brian some guidance, which wasn't difficult, since Brian was a talking dog!

"Brian, attack!" Lena commanded.

Brian wagged his tail and charged forward quickly.

But Lena criticized him harshly: "No, your four legs are completely uncoordinated. They look wide and sweeping, but they're not fast at all. Your job most of the time is to delay and entangle the prey, so time is the most precious thing."

"Woof! Okay!" Brian listened to the advice.

"Brian, charge, disrupt, roar, bite!"

When it came to the command to bite, Lena wasn't sure if she was seeing things.

She seemed to see the immense power contained in Brian's bite, a power that could only be unleashed through skill.

But how could a dog master combat skills? That doesn't make sense!

Lena thought she must be hallucinating and quickly dismissed the absurd idea.

Under Lena's guidance, Brian seemed to be subtly moving towards becoming a truly excellent hunting dog.

Looking at Brian's rapid progress, Lena also remarked to Loran with admiration:

"It's amazing. I've heard that this kind of combat skill is very rare. It requires a high degree of understanding between the player and their pet, and a kind of mental interaction. It's a skill area that I've never ventured into before."

"I'd also like to ask you about your understanding of pet combat skills when I have some free time. I hope you don't mind?"

Seeing Lena's expectant gaze, Loran naturally gave a positive reply: "Yes, no problem!"

Time has passed, and today's training session is now over.

"Keep it up, kids! Persistence will definitely pay off!" Lena encouraged them. "See you here again at this time tomorrow!"

"Yes, see you later, instructor!"

"See you later."

"Woof!"

Loran and Finita walked out of the training camp together, and it was clear that the red-haired girl was somewhat downcast.

Brian, the clever little fellow, naturally noticed this as well. Wagging its tail, it approached the girl, sticking out its tongue, and said, "Hey! Let's cheer each other on! Don't be discouraged!"

The petite Finita was touched by the fluffy creature, a joyful smile spreading across her face as she patted Brian's head. "Thank you, Brian."

Brian pointed at Loran and said calmly, "My master would be happy to help you!"

Loran paused, noticing Finita's gaze, and gave an awkward laugh, clearing his throat twice before saying, "Um, if there's anything you'd like to know, feel free to ask me. Let's help each other out!"

Finita, holding the book in her hands, nodded gently and said with a pursed mouth, "Thank you. Actually, I've been practicing for a long time, but I still can't cast spells. Maybe I'm just too stupid."

Loran quickly replied, "Just like Lena said, keep going, maybe we'll succeed next time, right!"

"Hmm... I would like to do that too, but I don't want my sister to be under any more pressure. She works hard every day in the tailor shop to earn money for my studies. She says that's the only way out for me."

"But so much time has passed, and I haven't learned anything. I really want to help my sister share the burden so she doesn't have to worry about my tuition anymore..."

Finita's face was full of conflict and helplessness.

Loran remained silent. He understood that the girl before him felt guilty for letting down her family.

Furthermore, this state is not something that can be escaped at will, because it was created by Finita herself, and only the one who tied the knot can untie it.

Although he didn't have much interaction with this girl, Loran felt he could offer some help within his power.

He thought to himself that if he could help Finita relieve her sister's stress, then she would naturally not feel guilty.

So what does it all boil down to? It's money, isn't it?

So, speaking of money...

Loran suggested, "Finita, you could take on some simple quests to earn coins. Wouldn't that relieve some of your sister's stress?"

Upon hearing this, Finita shook her head in distress and said, "My sister won't allow me to take on adventurers' guild quests. She says the wilderness is too dangerous, and if she finds out I'm doing this, she'll ignore me."

Loran nodded knowingly, and could only say regretfully, "This is indeed a difficult problem to solve... If someone I care about is adventuring abroad, I would also be very worried."

"But you don't need to worry too much. Just give it your all each day! Believe that one day the problem will be solved!"

"Woof woof!"

"Thanks..."

Lorraine turned and left with Brian.

However, she hadn't gone far when Finita caught up with her, her red hair becoming somewhat disheveled from running.

"Um... Mr. Loran, excuse me, I wanted to ask if you are an adventurer." Finita's face flushed slightly.

Loran was somewhat surprised and said, puzzled, "Well, you could say that, but I haven't had many adventures."

"Um... I have a presumptuous request, which is... you can refuse if you find it troublesome! That's your right! I'd like... I'd like you to take me to accept an adventurer's quest!"

"Although I haven't mastered magic yet, I promise I won't be a burden to you! Please!"

After saying that, Finita gave a deep bow, hiding her flushed face with her hair.

Loran blinked, somewhat surprised by this. He asked curiously, "But didn't your sister say you shouldn't take on any missions?"

"Um... as long as my sister doesn't find out, it'll be fine!" Finita replied very seriously.

That's a really good idea. It's like college students skipping class. It only counts as skipping class if the teacher catches them. If they don't get caught, it's as if it never happened!

Looking at Finita's very sincere attitude, Loran hesitated and said, "I agree to help you take on missions, but I'm in an adventurer's party, so I need to consult my teammates first."

"Perfect timing! I've arranged to meet them at the Adventurers' Guild Square in three days. You can come and take a look then."

Finita nodded repeatedly, "Mhm!"

Brian exclaimed happily, "Welcome to the Dog Dagger Squad!"

"Dog Dagger... squad?"

"Ahem, that's not the point. Look, you've already gotten Brian's consent!"
