Chapter 042: Sister Finita
Tony searched the clothing store for a long time before finally saying helplessly, "Sir, I really can't find any clothes in your size that match... I'm so sorry."
Thompson's already wounded heart was now even more devastated.
Lorraine led the dejected Thompson out of the clothing store; now, even with money, they couldn't spend it...
Loran was surprised that such a high-end clothing store didn't design clothes for dwarves; it was simply not diverse at all!
"Don't be discouraged. If we don't have it here, we'll definitely find it somewhere else. Let's go look for it; we'll definitely be able to," Loran comforted her.
Thompson sighed. "Am I destined to be a failure my whole life?"
It's never just the last straw that breaks the camel's back, but the whole bundle of straw on its back.
Clearly, Thompson is now the camel that's being crushed.
After looking around the estate, Thompson decided against going back in. The reason was that the clothes weren't good value for money, and the owners were all arrogant and condescending...
Lorraine had no choice but to settle for second best and go to the small town to look for a tailor shop on the street before Thompson reluctantly agreed.
Loran randomly picked a tailor shop that looked decent and led Thompson inside.
"Hello gentlemen, is there anything you need?" A red-haired woman greeted them, looking very welcoming.
"I'd like to make a suitable outfit for my friend. What do you think?" Loran asked.
The red-haired boss sized up Thompson and asked, "What's the purpose of this outfit?"
"For use at dinner parties."
"Sure, no problem, sir. Let me take your measurements." The shopkeeper took out a rope and began to measure Thompson's clothes.
Thompson, however, seemed somewhat nonchalant, sighing, "Come on, someone like me, no matter how much effort I put into my clothes, will never look good..."
"No, sir. Everyone has their own unique charm. People often say to play to your strengths and avoid your weaknesses, so let's leverage your strengths and charm. If it's convenient, could you tell me what you do for a living?"
Thompson replied dismissively, "A scholar, I suppose. I consider myself quite knowledgeable."
He didn't think the tailor shop on the street could help him make any real changes; at best, it would just turn him into a clown with a different outfit.
"Just as I guessed, you do indeed possess that kind of charisma. Please wait a moment," the female boss said with a smile.
Thompson stopped the female boss who was about to start work and asked, "How much would it cost to make this outfit for me?"
The female shopkeeper thought for a moment and estimated, "About 5 silver coins will suffice."
"This isn't very cheap."
"Sir, the materials used for formal attire to the banquet are very expensive...it's simply impossible."
Loran interrupted the female boss's explanation in time, waving his hand and saying, "Just go ahead and do it. This old man isn't short of money. Use the best materials you have. There are important guests at the banquet, so we can't let him lose face."
Thompson gave Lorraine a disgruntled look and muttered, "You little rascal, all you know how to do is rip off an old man like me."
"Hey, save where you should and spend where you should. You've already moved to a street-side shop. If you keep being stingy, I really won't be able to salvage your image," Loran said, shrugging.
Back at the back of the tailor shop, the red-haired owner got busy, a happy smile on his face.
"Sister, do we have customers ordering clothes?" Finita asked curiously, seeing her sister's happy expression.
"Of course, that guest wants to attend the dinner party and would like to have a suit custom-made," the red-haired boss replied.
This red-haired boss is none other than Finita's older sister, Ronnie.
Ronnie carefully measured the dimensions and began cutting the fabric, trying to create a style that suited Thompson's personality.
Finita smiled happily, "Sister, let me lend you a hand!"
"Hmm, the little girl is quite sensible now."
After waiting for a while, Lorraine and Finita came out.
Finita, who had just come out, immediately saw Loran and froze.
Loran turned her head and was somewhat surprised to see the familiar red-haired figure.
No wonder the tailor shop owner looked familiar; he's family with Finita!
"Finita, don't just stand there, go and hand the clothes to this guest." Ronnie gently nudged the stunned Finita.
Finita then realized what was happening and quickly handed the clothes to Thompson.
She bowed slightly and said, "Sir, your clothes! You can try them on in the fitting room next door!"
Thompson took the elegant black outfit and then went into the dressing room on his own.
"Finita," Loran spoke first.
Finita became a little shy again, and said nervously, "Lorraine... how did you know where my family's tailor shop is?"
Ronnie was also slightly taken aback. She walked over, looked curiously at Loran, and then at Finita.
Do you know this guest?
Loran explained, "Oh, it's like this. Finita and I trained in the same camp, and we happened to be in the same training period, so we know each other."
"I see!" Ronnie smiled and quickly pulled Lorraine to sit down and rest. "Come, come, since you're Finita's friend, don't be so polite. I'll get you a cup of tea!"
After saying that, Ronnie walked away again.
Looking at the girl whose face was already flushed red to her ears, Loran smiled wryly and said, "I just happened to be accompanying my friend to change clothes. I didn't expect this shop to be owned by your sister. What a coincidence."
"Yes...yes, my sister is a very good cook! I hope...your friend will like it!" Finita said, still somewhat hesitantly.
Lorraine didn't press the shy girl any further and waited quietly. Soon, Ronnie brought over the tea and started talking to Lorraine about her studies.
They asked about everything, including whether Finita had been slacking off in the training camp, whether she had studied hard, and even asked Loran to help Finita with her studies.
Loran felt a moment of disorientation; how similar this was to the conversations between the parents of the children and the young people in the village who had been admitted to university in her previous life.
Of course, Lorraine didn't seem impatient at all. He showered Ronnie with praise and agreement, making her quite happy.
I wonder what Ronnie's mindset was when she found out that she was going to take Finita out on a dangerous adventure. Loran even felt that what she was doing might be a little bit evil.
But this was Finita's request, and Lorraine said he wouldn't take the blame for it.
Just then, the door to the tailor shop's dressing room opened, and the Thompsons, having changed their clothes, slowly walked out.
The moment they stepped out, Loran and the others widened their eyes in surprise.
