Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 044: Adventure and Reunion

"Brian, go over to that table of adventurers and ask them for information about Elfin. Don't just listen to their boasting," Loran instructed Brian as he sat down at the central table.

Elfin is a guy you can't ignore. I don't know his background, but it's always good to be a little cautious.

"Woof woof! Okay, mission accomplished!"

Brian then wagged his tail and very naturally joined the table of adventurers who were drinking and chatting.

Loran was pleased with this; with Brian as his little helper to gather intelligence, he could have a much easier time.

While roasting chicken, Tucker saw Loran's dog wagging its tail and leaving, and clicked his tongue in amazement, saying, "Your dog is really smart."

"Indeed, it's a trustworthy fellow." Loran smiled slightly.

Loran wasn't idle either. When it comes to intelligence gathering, Tekel grilled meat here every day, so he could naturally gather a lot of information. So while waiting, Loran chatted with him casually.

"Tekel, have there been a lot of adventurers coming here to spend money lately?"

Upon hearing this, Tekel laughed and said, "It's alright, the popularity has been better than before. I guess it's because the adventurers have become richer, so I asked them a little."

"That's when I found out that the Adventurers' Guild has recently released a lot of new quests, and many villages near Rockfall Town have been quite unsettled lately, with monsters appearing frequently."

"With many missions and high rewards, adventurers naturally have a very high willingness to spend. At the same time, they also need meat to replenish their strength!"

Loran listened to Turkel's description, frowned, and nodded. "Then why do you think there's been such a surge in monster appearances?"

"There are many theories about this. For example, every now and then a goblin shaman with talent will appear. This goblin monster with a certain level of intelligence will gradually make the goblin group grow stronger."

"When the goblin hordes grow large, they will raid villages and cause harm to human society. During this time, the Adventurers' Guild will have more missions."

"After the goblin shamans were wiped out by the adventurers, the goblin population shrank, and there weren't as many quests until the goblins returned."

Loran listened attentively; this knowledge was extremely useful for him, given his limited number of adventures at the moment.

"Wouldn't it be better to just wipe out the goblins completely? That way, we can solve the problem once and for all," Loran asked, puzzled.

Tekel denied it, saying, "Goblins are like rats hiding in the gutter of a town. They reproduce very quickly, can eat anything, and can live in any harsh environment. If you accidentally let one or two goblins go, they are likely to evolve into a new group."

"Besides," Tekker said helplessly, "creatures like goblins indirectly provide adventurers with a job. If the nobles don't feel threatened, it'll be difficult to extract money from them!"

Lorraine nodded thoughtfully. In a way, what Terkel said was entirely correct.

After the roast chicken was ready, Loran called Brian back and asked him if he had obtained any useful information.

Brian described, "It seems Elfin has assembled his own team called... Sharp Spear! His recruits are all incredibly skilled individuals, and they have the potential to surpass the Exquisite Blade and become the number one adventurer team in Rockfall Town!"

Apart from this piece of information being somewhat useful, everything else was just idle chatter that Brian had heard from those guys, completely devoid of any substance.

Of course, obtaining this information didn't come without a price; Brian learned some new, rather vulgar phrases from these "highly cultured" adventurers...

After having roast chicken with Brian, the two of them set off on their way home, ending the day in a blissful state.

The next day was approaching noon.

This was the day the Dog Dagger Squad had agreed upon; they were to choose their next adventure mission today.

Lin Wen was already waiting in the square. With some spare money, she bought a sharper dagger, along with a better hood and cloak.

Seeing Loran approaching, he happily went to greet him, "Hey! You're here! How does it feel to have money in your hands?"

But halfway through his sentence, Lin Wen looked at Luo Lan's clothes strangely. They were exactly the same as before, and even the bow and arrow were still the same broken bow.

"You...you took the money but aren't planning on upgrading your equipment?" Lin Wen's eyes showed a hint of surprise. "Could it be that you spent all the money on drinking?! Good heavens, you big drunkard!"

"Hey, hey, stop, stop, stop! How can you make up all sorts of stories for others just by talking? I haven't said anything yet. I'm just here to check out the mission. There's still time. I'll buy the equipment according to the mission."

"I've learned a lot lately. Do you know what it means to prescribe the right medicine for the illness?" Loran said with great confidence.

Lin Wen curled her lip, "Hmph, playing tricks."

A short while later, Noah arrived, looking much better than he had a few days earlier, radiating health and vitality.

"Noah, you look like you're recovering well," Loran said in surprise.

Noah nodded. "The priests of the Church of Light and Shadow used divine magic to heal me. I must say, the effect was remarkable. Apart from the cost, everything was great."

"Hehe, that's great! Now that you've recovered, Noah, let's go on an adventure together!" Lin Wen said excitedly.

"Yes, there shouldn't be any problems now," Noah replied affirmatively.

Loran chimed in at the opportune moment, "By the way, I've been training at the town's training camp these past few days, and I met a girl there. She said she wants to join our adventurer team, and she should be here soon."

"Hey, I didn't realize you were so considerate of our team, even thinking about recruiting new members. Let me see how capable this new member you recruit is!"

Loran added, "She's a mage who can't cast spells yet; she's just an ordinary person. If we're going to take on a relatively dangerous mission, we'll need to assess her carefully."

Lin Wen thought for a moment and said seriously, "Although we have all mastered the skills, before we mastered the skills, we were just ordinary people. When we wanted to join those bronze-level adventurer teams, we were ruthlessly turned away."

"But I think what separates us from becoming Bronze-level adventurers is a lack of real combat experience! So, I won't care about her strength, but rather focus on her determination to take the risk!"

Loran looked at Lin Wen with some surprise. "I never expected you to say such things."

"Loran! What do you mean?!"
