Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 050: Brand New Equipment

Old Smith, puzzled, imagined the scene in his mind.

Lorraine pressed on, continuing:

"It's roughly like this—the middle part of the bow where you hold it is still straight, but from here on, instead of smoothly going backwards at both ends, it extends forward like the fangs of a wild beast, and then turns back."

"I think this design would have many advantages, such as making it smoother to draw the bow. After drawing the bowstring, the curved part of the bow begins to straighten, and the force in your hand might actually be looser, making it easier to stabilize your aim."

"When the bow tip rebounds, the arrow may be shot more swiftly. The curved part, like a bent sapling, can draw the string along, making the arrow fly faster and straighter."

"Of course, these are all just my wild guesses. But you are the best craftsman in town. I only know the general shape and the feeling I want, but I know nothing about the actual bow making process."

Old Smith listened to Lorraine's words and fell into deep thought.

He was not a stubborn blacksmith; on the contrary, the townspeople often had strange problems that required specific tools to solve, and he often participated in the design and discussion of such problems, ultimately bringing the tools to fruition.

The young man in front of him had made his thoughts very clear, which made it easy for him to think about them.

"Bring me the bow you're carrying so I can take a look."

Lorraine handed his bow to old Smith.

Old Smith gestured on the bow, pointing to both ends. "You mean, make a curve in these two places? But have you considered that no one has done this in all these years... It's likely to be a failed idea."

"I know what this might mean, but I still think the idea is feasible, Mr. Smith. You've made so many bows, I'm sure you have a unique understanding of this."

"If I make this change to the bow and it still works, I think my idea will succeed!"

"Alright, since you trust me so much, I'll give it a try, but I can't guarantee that the bow will work after it's made." Old Smith finally agreed.

"Mr. Smith, what is the cost?"

Old Smith estimated that "the entire equipment would cost around 30 silver coins to craft."

"it is good."

"Are you busy right now?" Old Smith asked.

Lorraine shook her head.

"Then I'll demonstrate it on the spot, and you can see if it meets your expectations for this bow. I'll test it for you with simple materials first, and if it doesn't work, your good materials won't be wasted."

It must be said that Old Smith had a very good professional attitude. He not only tested Lorraine's ideas, but also took care of Lorraine's material issues.

Of course, besides his professional attitude, there was an even more important point: Old Smith himself was also particularly interested in this bow!

Old Smith began to make the bow using simple wood.

Loran continued to describe the appearance of the recurve bow, allowing Old Smith to use his bow-making experience to optimize it step by step.

After a long period of time, the bow finally took shape. This bow, made of simple materials, was not so simple after all.

Old Smith also began to see the signs, and he was surprised to find that Lorraine's idea seemed to be quite feasible!

After securing the bowstring, Old Smith pulled on the bow and was quite shocked.

Although he was just a blacksmith, he often handled bows because of his profession, and he could roughly judge whether a bow was good or bad.

The bow in front of us, made of simple materials, seems to perform just as well as those made of high-quality materials!

Furthermore, the bow perfectly matched the advantages described by Loran, and he felt that it seemed even more durable than a traditional straight bow.

However, this was his first time making one, and Old Smith did discover some problems when he drew the bow. But these problems were not caused by the bow itself, but by his skill in the manufacturing process, and could have been completely avoided.

"Incredible, young man! Your idea is completely feasible! I think this could be a new approach to bow making!" Old Smith's eyes were full of admiration.

Loran also took the bow and used it for a while. Even though it was a flawed product, it completely met his expectations.

Loran was pleasantly surprised, not expecting that his idea could actually be put into practice. "This is all thanks to your skills. I only put forward the idea and know nothing about the bow-making process."

"I've discovered some issues with this bow, but they can all be avoided. However, there's still some uncertainty. Are you sure you want to use the materials you purchased to make it?" Old Smith asked uncertainly.

"Yes, I'm sure."

"Alright, leave the rest to me. You can come pick up the equipment tomorrow!" Old Smith patted his chest confidently.

"By the way, Mr. Smith, could you help me embed this beast core into my leather bone armor?" Loran took the yellow beast core out of his backpack.

...

The next day, Loran went to the blacksmith's shop and got the equipment.

This outfit is exquisitely crafted; Old Smith's craftsmanship is impeccable.

The highlight was still the recurve bow, which had never been seen before. It was made, and with the excellent materials provided by Loran, the bow's excellence was fully demonstrated.

Even without using any skills, the arrows fired from this bow can inflict considerable damage on enemies.

In addition to possessing a fine bow, Loran also commissioned arrowheads, based on the knowledge Lena had taught him.

There are two types of arrows: a regular medium-width iron arrowhead and a barbed arrowhead. Both types of arrowheads are highly versatile and targeted.

The price of Iron Arrows is not a problem for Loran at present.

Loran put on his new adventure gear, while Brian beside him looked on with envy.

Loran wondered if he should get some equipment for Brian as well.

During the afternoon training camp, Loran consulted Lena about pet equipment.

However, Lena's answer was that pets don't need any equipment for the time being, because some equipment might not only be useless, but could also affect the pet's mobility, which is the pet's greatest advantage.

If you can buy some suitable magical items for your pet to use, that would be a better option.

Loran naturally chose to listen to the advice. Of course, he felt that Brian didn't need any defensive equipment. He was fine even when he was crushed by a big wild boar, and he didn't believe that a small goblin could do any damage to it.

Loran silently activated the yellow crystal in his chest, and a thin yellow light screen appeared around him, with faint rock particles floating in it.

The skill of this beast core should be a barrier-like skill, which would be a pretty good survival skill for an archer like him who lacks defense.

Finally, it's time to buy some recovery potions!
