Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 074: Arrival at Inada Village

Starting in the morning, the carriage would stop and start frequently, and the horses would get tired and need to rest from time to time. If you want the horses to run, you have to make sure they have enough grass.

Along the way, Loran and his companions encountered many goblin squads wandering in the forest. These guys thought Loran and his group were easy targets and wanted to bully them, but they didn't expect to run into a tough opponent.

Before they even got close, Loran had turned them into pincushions.

It took Loran and his group about ten hours to reach the vicinity of Daotian Village.

Before they even reached Daotian Village, they could already see the village's vast and fertile farmland, where many farmers were working in the fields, creating a thriving scene.

However, these farmlands are surrounded by high wooden fences. These fences can at least temporarily limit the monsters' attacks and buy the farmers time to escape.

As Loran entered the village along the main road, he could clearly see the difference between this place and Luolin Village, namely the difference in the level of defense.

There are a large number of guards clad in iron armor. These guards may not be able to use combat skills, but the overwhelming power of their equipment is enough to suppress most of the monsters.

This also shows how much the Knights value this area.

As the horse-drawn carriage entered the village, numerous grain workshops could be seen along the streets.

For example, there are flour milling workshops, bread processing workshops, and many brewing workshops, so trade is very frequent here.

You can see a lot of merchants coming and going in the village. They buy grain here wholesale and sell it elsewhere to make a profit.

When traveling to remote areas, it's natural to hire bodyguards to ensure safety along the way...

With so many layers of infrastructure, this area will create numerous job opportunities and lead to greater economic prosperity.

If this village were larger, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that it could rival other towns.

Loran and his companions soon met the person who issued the mission: Knight Com.

"Hey adventurers, welcome to Inada Village! I'm so glad to see you all so soon. I thought it would take at least 10 days for adventurers to arrive after the quest was posted."

Com, a middle-aged knight, greeted Loran and his companions with great enthusiasm.

"We used a horse-drawn carriage on the way, and Rockfall Town isn't very far from here."

"You are a group of people worthy of respect. Come, let me explain the current situation to you." Knight Com invited everyone to his home to discuss the matter.

Com's house was a large house, though not as grand or spacious as the manors and castles built in Rockfall.

The reception room and all the floors with their own specific functions were all there; this knight was certainly living a very comfortable life.

The butler came downstairs with a map, spread it out on the table, and explained, "This is a map drawn by our scouts based on their intelligence gathering; there may be some slight errors."

Com pointed to the map and explained, "My main goal this time is to deal with the kobolds in a cave. Those guys aren't very strong in combat, but they're disgusting."

"Our rice paddy village has many granaries, and there are people guarding them every day. But even with all-day guarding, there are always loopholes. Those cunning kobolds never attack head-on. They always hide in dark corners and seize the loopholes to steal our grain."

"Although they only steal a limited amount, it adds up. I've lost count of how much food these guys have stolen. I've now located their lair."

Com paused as he spoke, then looked at Loran and the others with a serious expression and said, "Adventurers, I must warn you, the kobold caves are interconnected. I have only explored this one cave, but there may be other caves connected to it."

"In other words, after the kobolds in this cave are defeated, they may send reinforcements, and the number will exceed expectations. So what I want you to do is to do your best to kill some of the kobolds."

"Once we kill a portion of the kobolds, they'll need time to recover. A period of peace will be enough. You must ensure your safety," Com reminded them.

Loran was surprised that the knight had a conscience, and nodded in agreement, "Alright, don't worry, we'll do our best. In the first part of the cave, we'll clear out the kobolds as per our mission!"

"Yes, we're professionals!" Lin Wen said confidently.

Com stood up and said solemnly, "Alright, thank you very much. It's getting late. Let me arrange a few rooms for you to rest for the night, and you can go again tomorrow morning."

Loran and his companions temporarily settled in an inn next to Com's house. There were enough rooms for them to stay in. This knight was not only rich but also very generous.

The hotel's building materials all appeared to be made of high-quality wood, and the rooms arranged for each person were quite spacious. The guests here were mostly traveling merchants who were not short of money.

Compared to the tiny room Loran stayed in that cost 20 copper coins a day... well, there's no harm in comparison.

"Wow! Is this the kind of hotel where rich people stay? It's so exquisite!" Lin Wen looked around, tapping on the hotel wall with her hand, making a pleasant thumping sound.

"It seems our employer is quite good," Noah remarked.

Finita happily plopped down on the large bed in the room, exclaiming, "It's so big, such a big bed!"

Lin Wen put some of her luggage in the room, then suggested with a smile, "Before the sun sets, why don't we go and try some local delicacies in Daotian Village? With such a thriving trade here, the food must have a unique flavor!"

"Great! I'm really looking forward to the food here!" Finita happily chimed in.

And so, Lin Wen organized the first team building activity for the Dog Dagger Squad. They strolled around the streets of Daotian Village for a while and eventually found a bakery on the street.

Even as sunset approached, there was still a long queue at this bakery, indicating that business was booming. Linwen suggested that they give it a try.

Loran thought to himself, "Who would choose to eat bread for a team building event?"

However, this was also for convenience. It would be getting dark soon, and if we wanted to drink some beer or something, we would have to light an oil lamp or something, which would be very troublesome. It would be enough to just enjoy some food.

After queuing for a while, it was finally Loran and his group's turn. These breads looked no different from those in Rockfall Town, except that they had some jam on them.

But Loran immediately sensed that this bread was unusual; it must have been made using the Focused Cooking technique, just like the pastries from the tavern earlier.

The price of bread wasn't as high as everyone expected. A long loaf of bread with jam cost 30 copper coins, which was a bit pricey, but not outrageous.

Loran took a simple bite, and wow, it tasted really good! Or rather... absolutely amazing!

"Survival Guide: Your speed has been slightly increased for 20 minutes."

Loran noticed the tips in the adventure manual: a slight increase in speed over 20 minutes, and a brief, minor increase in strength from the roasted meat...

These improvements may seem insignificant, but even small improvements can be crucial in actual combat.

Loran decided to include the skill of focusing on culinary arts in his training plan, as he wanted to improve the level of this skill.
