Chapter 141: The Little Demon Squad
"Andrei, I didn't expect you to have gotten so old, and even a bit...greasy," Lin Wen teased the burly man in front of him.
Andrei coughed twice. "I don't look old, do I? Um... little devil, what are you doing back here?!"
"Haven't you heard the recent news?"
Andrei paused, thought carefully for a moment, and then exclaimed, "Oh! Right, right, you went to Rockfall Town, little devil! It seems Rockfall Town is under attack by monsters now! Wow, you're pretty lucky, you came back alive!"
Lin Wen stared wide-eyed.
"Oh, oh, oh... that's not what I meant. I meant, it's good that you're back, it's good that you're back!" Andrei scratched his head.
Lin Wen didn't seem too concerned, and asked seriously, "So, what's the relationship between that tavern owner and my dad?"
Andrei looked slightly embarrassed. "Well... it's hard to say. I mainly feel that for you, this might not be the case."
"I've grown up now," Lin Wen said calmly.
"Hmm...indeed. Alright then, that guy could very well be the murderer who killed Godwin back then, but...we're not sure. Also, that guy is very powerful. Ever since that incident, the brothers have all disbanded. None of us can beat him. Protecting you is already the best outcome."
"Andrei said with a sigh."
"Why? Why would he do that?" Lin Wen murmured, a pang of guilt in her chest, indicating that she was experiencing a great emotional upheaval.
Andrei thought for a moment and replied, "Well... it's probably because of some personal grudges of your father. He seemed to have some connection with a nobleman, but I don't know what happened."
"And now the manager of the tavern seems to have come for this very reason. After seeing that the tavern was doing quite well, he took over the tavern."
Lin Wen nodded thoughtfully. "I understand, Andrei. Thank you for remembering me after all these years."
"Haha, how could I forget you!" Andrei scratched his head.
Suddenly, Andrei seemed to realize something and warned, "Hey, little devil, you absolutely mustn't have any ideas about this guy right now. First of all, he's very strong!"
"Secondly, Plassen is no longer the small place it used to be. The interests involved here are now much more complex, and they will not allow you to kill someone in a position of power. This would be a challenge to and a desecration of power!"
Lin Wen yawned. "Yeah, I'm not that impulsive... I don't want to disturb your peaceful life either. As for the past, let it be the past..."
Andrei breathed a sigh of relief. "Well, it's good that you think that way. By the way, you probably don't have much money on you when you arrived, right? I have some money here, take it first. I can't talk to you for too long, or we'll attract attention and cause trouble. In a big city like Plassen, there are a lot of spies among the nobility!"
After saying that, Andrei put some silver and gold coins into Linwen's pocket, and then left the place in a very natural manner.
Lin Wen touched the gold and silver coins in his pocket, looking in the direction Andrei had gone, his heart filled with complicated emotions.
......
In a dream.
Loran and his newly formed adventurer party embarked on their first adventure.
These few short-statured but quirky individuals attracted a lot of attention as they walked down the street.
In the dream, these people had very expressive faces, and some even came up to them to inquire about their condition with concern.
However, they all produced valid adventurer credentials and launched a strong counterattack!
Loran easily completed the mission with his seasoned archery skills, and of course, the guys in their team also showed their own extraordinary talents.
Loran felt that if he hadn't possessed advanced knowledge and skillful archery, these little ones might have actually surpassed him in a few years!
The adventure team in the dream also has its own team name - the Four Little Ghosts Team.
Using this name certainly carries a self-deprecating tone, but it also has a rather distinctive character, making it very memorable for many adventurers who see it.
After completing the adventure in the dream, Loran had a feeling that the dream was about to end, so he wandered around Plassen.
He realized something: if he was here as a child, could Thompson have been here at the same time?
However, upon further reflection, it still seemed somewhat unreliable, because considering Thompson's age, he was in Plasson when he was young, which must have been thirty or fifty years ago... Lorraine has only been an adult for a little over ten years.
Therefore, it's unlikely that you can find Thompson from this period, but you might be able to find out about him in your dreams.
If dreams can recreate so many details, then perhaps information about Thompson can be obtained from an NPC in some corner of the city?
So Loran set his sights on the magic academy in the center of Plassen, where scholars were said to frequent.
Of course, Loran wouldn't be so bored as to inquire about the gossip of a shabby old man in a dream; this was just a side effect.
If he could make connections with scholars from magic academies through some of Thompson's theories, he could acquire a great deal of magical knowledge or skills.
Maybe he'll even witness a few more spells, which might cheer him up and unlock the Adventurer's Handbook!
Lorraine's current plan is this: he's also thinking about whether he could ask Thompson about his friends from his younger days, to see if he could use his real-world connections to influence the dream world...
To be honest, his idea was a bit outrageous and audacious, but the world of magic itself was already outrageous, and there were abstract existences like the Dream Factory. Loran thought his idea was very reliable!
"Slurp! Slurp!"
As Brian's wet tongue licked him, Loran gradually regained consciousness. Even after waking up, Loran still felt a lingering sense of satisfaction in his dream.
He looked towards the door and saw someone knocking, then he understood why Brian had woken him up.
Falling into a dream state does have its advantages, but there are also side effects, namely a significant decrease in sensory sensitivity. Without a major disturbance, Loran has difficulty waking up...
Fortunately, with a good dog like Brian as a bodyguard, Lorraine felt a little more at ease.
"Sorry, Loran, I'm so sorry to have disturbed your rest! It's just... I feel a bit unfamiliar with Plassen, and I'm afraid to go out to buy something to eat alone... Um, thank you for your help! I'm really sorry!"
Finita blushed and bowed repeatedly.
"Haha, there's no need to be so formal. I've had enough sleep, and I'm hungry too. Let's go." Loran laughed.
And so, Loran, Finita, and Brian went to the neighborhood of Plasson to buy some things, and also brought some back for their teammates!
Just as Loran was returning with Finita, he suddenly noticed an adventurer's points leaderboard.
The names of the adventurer party above were all unfamiliar... but one name was very special, and Loran recognized it.
No. 5 - The Four Little Devils Squad.
