Peninsula: I run a bed and breakfast on Jeju Island
Chapter 19 Lee Ji-eun
2019 3 Month 22 Day.
Choi Jin-ri got up very early.
Today is the day her friend brought Brin over.
Yesterday's cold didn't seem to affect her mental state.
It's also possible that Brin's arrival revitalized her spirits.
Li Ran was frying eggs in the kitchen when she caught a glimpse of her sitting on the sofa, her legs swinging slightly.
"Is it really necessary to get up so early? Didn't you say you'd be coming at noon?" He casually asked as he scooped the fried eggs onto a plate.
She smiled. "They said noon, but the exact time is still uncertain. What if it's earlier?"
Li Ran pursed her lips, "It only takes about an hour to fly from Seoul to Jeju Island."
"Your friend can probably book a ticket anytime she wants. Why don't you just have her call you right before boarding?"
Choi Jin-ri gently shook her head. "Anyway, I have to get up and eat breakfast, so it's no different from usual."
"No difference?" Li Ran raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in her eyes. "Why haven't I seen you get up around seven in the morning?"
"Oh, you got up ten minutes ago, I should say 7:20." He glanced at his watch and gave an exact time.
Choi Jin-ri pouted and gave him the middle finger.
After spending time together yesterday, the two have grown much closer.
These playful banter come naturally to him.
"Alright, since we're already up, it's good to fill our stomachs early." He placed the fried egg in front of Choi Jin-ri.
A bowl of millet porridge, three steamed buns, a fried egg, and a dish of pickled vegetables make up today's breakfast.
Even Xiao Hei, who was standing to the side, received a crushed egg, two steamed buns, and a bowl of porridge.
As soon as Choi Jin-ri's fingertips touched the edge of the porcelain bowl, she was so burned by the warmth that she gently withdrew her hand.
"Slow down, it's freshly served, it's definitely hot." Seeing her reaction, Li Ran smiled.
Choi Jin-ri pursed her lips and shifted her gaze to the fried egg next to her.
She gently poked the soft-boiled egg with her chopsticks, and the golden egg liquid flowed out through the opening.
She took a bite of the fried egg, then dipped it in some millet porridge and put it in her mouth.
"Your cooking is pretty good today." She nodded as she chewed, then picked up a steamed bun.
The pork-filled buns tasted noticeably better today.
Halfway through the meal, she broke open the bun, picked out some of the meat filling, and held it to Xiao Hei's mouth.
Little Blackie wagged its tail and rubbed against her wrist before gently taking away the meat filling, as if afraid of biting her.
"It's not like there isn't any in the little black bowl," Li Ran said helplessly after glancing at it.
"What do you know? I'm asking Blackie to help take care of Brin," Choi Jin-ri said, tilting her head back.
Upon hearing this, Li Ran raised an eyebrow. "Then why didn't I, as the homeowner, receive any recognition? Instead, I received quite a few disdainful looks."
Choi Jin-ri snorted, "People who keep saying Brin is ugly have no right to say that."
"Tsk, it's obviously ugly, but I can't say it."
Choi Jin-ri squinted at him.
"Cough cough," he lowered his head and drank a few mouthfuls of porridge.
"Alright, alright, I'm not saying anything more. You Brin are the cutest in the world, okay?"
Choi Jin-ri then withdrew her gaze with satisfaction, but couldn't help but smile upwards. She picked up another piece of pickled vegetables with her chopsticks and swallowed it with the porridge.
By this time, Xiao Hei had finished eating the food in its bowl, and then squatted down next to Cui Zhenli's feet, wagging its tail, which made her ankle itch.
She would occasionally bend down and secretly slip a little more meat filling into it.
Li Ran saw it all, but didn't expose it.
After finishing her meal, Li Ran began clearing away the dishes.
Choi Jin-ri wanted to help, but he waved her off, saying, "Go to your room and unpack the things that arrived yesterday first."
The cat litter box, water bowl, food bowl, and other items I ordered online the day before yesterday arrived yesterday, since the shipping location is nearby.
"It's already packed up," she muttered to herself.
"Then go and rest for a while. You had a cold yesterday."
"You caught a cold too, and I took care of you yesterday afternoon," she said, pursing her lips.
Li Ran blushed.
He really hadn't expected to be so weak yesterday. Getting caught in the rain even slightly gave him a cold and a fever.
It seems I've been too comfortable since arriving in Jeju Island and am seriously lacking in exercise.
I need to be more careful in the future.
Anyway…
"Ding-dong~"
Before Li Ran could utter a rebuttal, Cui Zhenli's phone rang.
She stared at her phone screen, her eyes lighting up.
After a while, she looked at Li Ran, a slight smile playing on her lips, "Brin is almost here. Guess who brought it?"
Li Ran frowned slightly. "How would I know? Your friend isn't my friend."
Choi Jin-ri smiled.
You'll find out soon enough.
"Just making a fuss over nothing," he muttered.
Choi Jin-ri's friend arrived sooner than he had expected.
"Aniyaseiyo~"
A petite figure appeared in front of Li Ran, carrying a pet carrier.
She was slender and short, with a small, soft face without any sharp angles, and her medium-length, dark brown hair was messily scattered across her cheeks and shoulders.
She wore a light-colored, loose-fitting coat and stood very steadily without any unnecessary physical movements.
"Thank you for your kindness!" Choi Jin-ri greeted him with a smile.
Li Ran raised an eyebrow. Zhi En?
Is this the Lee Ji-eun that Choi Jin-ri mentioned before?
"Yes." Lee Ji-eun handed the pet carrier to Choi Jin-ri. "I brought Brin with me."
Choi Jin-ri smiled as she took the pet carrier, placed it on the ground, and unzipped it.
A hairless cat wearing a striped outfit crawled out from inside.
Its entire body is hairless, with smooth, pale pinkish-white skin featuring natural wrinkles. The lines on its forehead, cheeks, and neck are the most prominent, rising and falling gently with its calm breathing.
That looks awful!
This was Li Ran's first reaction upon seeing it.
Choi Jin-ri lifted Brin up and then gently rubbed her face against him.
"Meow~"
She hugged Brin into her arms, then looked at Li Ran and the others.
"Let me introduce you. This is Zhi'en, my good friend, and this is Li Ran, the owner of this guesthouse, who is also my friend."
Lee Ji-eun glanced at him curiously, then bowed slightly, "Yes, Anyaseiyo~ I'm Lee Ji-eun."
"Annyeonghaseyo~ I am Li Ran." Li Ran returned the greeting.
"I often listen to your songs at the guesthouse, and I feel like I can sing them myself," he said with a smile.
truth?
She secretly observed Choi Jin-ri's reaction and found that she was still smiling and hugging Brin, with little change in her expression.
Her gaze shifted between the two men.
Lee Ji-eun is the person Choi Jin-ri asked to take care of Brin.
However, she is about to start filming, so she had to bring Brin back with her.
"Having a friend like Zhenli is a very happy thing," she said with a smile.
