Chapter 85 Quinjet
Chapter 85 Quinjet
Early in the morning, the sunlight had not yet fully entered the apartment.
Wanda stood barefoot at the door of Lin Yan's room, hesitating whether to knock.
She was wearing that loose bathrobe, her hair was still uncombed, a few strands of brown hair sticking up by her ears, and her toes curled up on the cold wooden floor for a moment before relaxing.
The door opened from the inside out.
"Come in," Lin Yan's voice came from inside the room.
Wanda went inside, tucked her stray hairs behind her ears, and didn't know where to look.
"What's wrong?" Lin Yan asked, looking at Wanda who seemed embarrassed to say it.
Wanda's fingers were twisting the pendant, and the tips of her ears were so red they looked like they could bleed.
She opened her mouth several times, but swallowed the words back before finally taking a deep breath and raising her head.
"I—after I awakened the Chaos Magic, my body has been changing—and always—always—" Her voice trailed off as she stared at her bare toes.
"Ahem—" Lin Yan glanced at Wanda, who was wearing a loose bathrobe, after hearing this, and then realized why she was so embarrassed.
"Your chaos magic is not a naturally occurring ability of this universe."
Wanda looked up.
"Its original owner was an ancient god whose authority encompassed love, motherhood, death, and rebirth—a complete cycle. Your current power is a variant of that power."
Lin Yan paused for a moment.
"The changes in your body now are because the related attributes of this power will instinctively project in this direction, so your body will develop again."
When Lin Yan mentioned "development," Wanda was almost unable to contain herself and wanted to leave the room.
"Once you have complete control over chaos magic, this unnatural phenomenon will stop."
"What if I can't control it?"
"You learn pretty quickly." Lin Yan glanced at her. "Even if you can't control it, chaos magic won't turn you into a monster. Your willpower determines everything."
"What do you mean?" Wanda asked, somewhat confused.
"It means that the changes in your body now are based on your subconscious. Once you feel in your heart that you no longer need to change, the changes will stop."
Lin Yan's explanation was convoluted, but Wanda still understood it.
It wasn't magic that was changing her body; it was she herself who was changing it.
To be precise, it was her subconscious that felt this was better, and that's why the chaos magic was pushed in that direction.
Chaos magic doesn't understand what "sorry" means; it only follows the host's truest subconscious to push the body to grow in a certain direction.
Wanda looked down at herself, her face flushed from the tips of her ears all the way down to her neck.
It turns out she made herself into this.
And the most fundamental reason is actually—
She looked up at Lin Yan, her lips moved several times, but the sounds she made were so soft they were almost inaudible.
But how could Lin Yan not hear it? Let alone just a muttered word, he could hear any sound in the world at any time and in any place if he wanted to.
He usually suppressed his abilities, but even so, he heard Wanda's words clearly.
"—I'm going to change my clothes." Wanda turned and walked towards the door, her steps much faster than usual.
She paused at the door without turning around, her voice softly drifting back, "Lin, breakfast is ready, it's in the dining room."
Then, barefoot, she pattered on the wooden floor and ran back to her room.
When Wanda came out of her room after changing her clothes, there was already another person in the living room.
Natasha was standing by the dining table, holding a bowl of hot soup, when she heard the door open and turned around.
Her gaze fell on Wanda, and then stopped.
It's only been a few days since I last saw her, and the girl's figure has taken another big step in an exaggerated direction.
The waistline is cinched tightly, stretching the red coat's zipper upwards, while downwards it creates an incredibly smooth curve at the waist and hips.
Natasha glanced down at herself subconsciously, then looked up again, her expression still perfectly controlled, but the subtle change in her eyes was still unmistakable.
"Have you grown taller recently?"
Wanda was also stunned.
She hadn't expected there to be someone else in the room, especially Natasha. "How did you get in?"
"Your door isn't locked." Natasha put down the bowl. "The director sent me to pick you up. There's a mission that requires your chaos magic."
"What mission?" Wanda wasn't really concerned about the mission; what she was concerned about was not seeing Lin Yan at the dinner table.
"An alien, codenamed Thor, suddenly appeared on Earth and kidnapped a murderer."
Natasha picked up the data panel and scribbled a few lines, sending the coordinates and mission briefing to Wanda's communicator. "We'll go directly there and meet up with them."
Wanda glanced down at the coordinates on the communicator, then looked up. "Where's Pietro?"
"Your brother is on standby aboard the space carrier; Fury said this mission isn't suitable for him."
Natasha took two steps toward the door, then stopped, glanced back at Wanda, and asked, "Have you eaten anything strange lately?"
"----No."
"Then never mind."
Wanda's ears turned slightly red. "Give me ten minutes."
Natasha nodded. "I'll be waiting for you in the fighter jet."
Wanda stood still, took a deep breath, and then quickly walked to the door of Lin Yan's room.
She raised her hand to knock on the door, but the door opened from the inside.
Lin Yan stood at the door, reached out and ruffled her hair. "I'll go with you."
Wanda paused for a moment, then nodded vigorously, grabbed Lin Yan's sleeve, and walked out.
Lin Yan followed behind her, his pace neither fast nor slow.
On the tarmac, the Quinjet's engines were already warmed up.
Natasha heard footsteps, turned around from the cockpit, and immediately put her hand on her holster.
The presence of a strange man with Wanda made her wary.
Wait a minute, she seems to have seen this man before, right here—right here in the S.H.I.E.L.D. archives!
Just like the description in Coulson's report, he wore a dark gray coat, had a striking face, and a calm demeanor.
She had seen Thor's file on the Helicarrier, and one of the supplementary documents recorded an incident in Old Bridge.
After the war, a mysterious person took away the remains of the Destroyer armor and exchanged one mysterious thing for another.
Natasha's access permissions do not yet allow her to determine what these two items are.
She instinctively wanted to pick up the communicator and call Nick Fury, but she was worried about alerting him.
"Relax, I mean no harm." Lin Yan smiled. Why were these agents so nervous around him?
Natasha was like that, and so was Coulson.
"The Quinjet can't seat three people," Natasha replied.
