Chapter 87 Battle with Thor

"Despicable." Thor gripped the hammer handle tightly, the arcs of electricity on the surface of Mjolnir pulsating uneasily, but he did not take another step forward.

Wanda's feet left the ground, and her telekinesis carried her slowly down from mid-air. Her movements were as graceful as if she were stepping on an invisible staircase. Her toes landed lightly on the ground scorched by lightning and fire, and the hem of her red coat drooped gently with the air currents as she landed.

"Be careful," Steve warned as he got up from the ground.

"Captain, are you alright?" Wanda turned around and looked at Steve, asking.

Steve shook his head, wiped the blood seeping from the base of his thumb, and fastened the vibranium shield back onto his arm.

Tony emerged from the wreckage of the spruce trunk, casually brushed the wood chips stuck in his shoulder armor, and with a streak of golden-red flame from his thrusters, landed on the other side of Wanda from mid-air.

The three stood side by side at the edge of the forest scorched by lightning and fire, with remnants of red chaos magic, a blue-red vibranium shield, and a gold-red steel armor.

Three distinct lines of defense simultaneously faced the blond deity wielding Thor's hammer.

Behind her, the searchlights of the Quinjet cut through the smoke-filled forest, and Natasha's finger was already on the launch button for the onboard weapons.

Thor stared at the scene before him, Mjolnir hanging by his side, arcs of electricity streaming down its handle. "Is this how the warriors of Midgard treat their guests?"

"Guests?" The optical sensors on Tony's visor were aimed at Thor's face, and the armor's loudspeaker broadcast his signature sarcastic tone verbatim, "No guest would break into a S.H.I.E.L.D. plane and let an important criminal escape."

Loki is my brother.

"He just killed 16 civilians."

"He was adopted." Thor's expression faltered for a moment, and the arcs of electricity on Mjolnir shortened by a few inches.

The optical sensor on Tony's visor flickered. "What?"

"Adopted, adopted by my father." Thor slammed his hammer on the ground, a rare hint of guilt in his voice.

"He wasn't like this when he was a child—never mind, that's not important. What's important is that he has a scepter that doesn't belong to him."

Thorn paused for a moment.

"If he doesn't return to Asgard to face trial, many more people on Earth will die, but I will help you bring him back."

.

The captain fastened the vibranium shield back to his arm and pressed the communicator. "Barton, report your location. Loki is here."

There was only harsh white noise coming from the communicator.

"Patton?" The captain pressed the button again, but there was still no response. He looked up in the direction of the Quinjet. "Natasha, can you contact Patton?"

Natasha's voice came through the fighter jet's loudspeaker, a few beats faster than usual: "Unable to make contact."

Meanwhile, Lin Yan was standing in a completely different corridor.

The top floor of Stark Tower.

Loki stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, toying with the scepter inlaid with the Mind Stone, a signature smile playing on his lips.

The sky outside was still unusually calm, but he knew it would soon be anything but.

He turned around to walk toward the teleportation device hidden in the shadows, then his peripheral vision caught a glimpse of his reflection in the floor-to-ceiling window.

A person was standing behind him, no more than three steps away.

Loki didn't turn around. He flipped his right hand, and a dagger slid from his sleeve into his palm. He then turned around and slashed backward.

The blade traced a smooth arc in the air, precisely slashing towards the neck of the person behind him.

Then it stopped.

He didn't stop voluntarily; he was forced to stop.

The hand holding the dagger froze in mid-air, unable to move forward an inch no matter how hard he tried, as if something invisible was pressing down on him from all directions at the same time.

It's telekinesis; if Wanda can do it, Lin Yan naturally can too.

Loki's smile finally crumbled.

He released the dagger and transformed into a streak of light, retreating backward.

"Don't try these little tricks." Lin Yan shook his head and reached to the other side.

Immediately afterwards, the air at the other end of the room distorted slightly, and Loki's true form staggered out of his invisibility, lying face down on the ground.

Lin Yan raised his hand and gently hooked his index finger.

The scepter Loki was holding suddenly jolted, as if an invisible giant hand had gripped the handle, and it flew directly out of his palm.

The scepter drew a blue arc in mid-air before landing steadily in Lin Yan's palm.

The staff handle was icy cold, and the Mind Gem embedded at its tip emitted a faint golden pulse the instant it touched Lin Yan's skin, before quickly fading away.

"This scepter is mine now." Lin Yan twirled the scepter in his hand. "Tell Thanos to keep the Infinity Stones safe. I'll go get them when I have time."

Loki was about to pull another trick when his fingers touched another dagger at his waist. Suddenly, he was sent flying by a force.

He slammed his back against the wall at the end of the corridor, slid down the wall, and lay on the ground panting for a while before he could get up.

He glanced at the scepter in Lin Yan's hand, then at Lin Yan himself, before slinking away through the emergency exit.

Lin Yan withdrew his gaze and connected with Wanda in his mind.

Wanda.

At the edge of the dense forest, Wanda paused for a moment, then smiled. "Lin, what's up?"

"Barton is at Stark Tower."

Wanda never questioned Lin Yan's words and directly told the others about it.

Tony frowned slightly beneath his visor. "How did you know?"

"Lin told me."

Tony paused for a second, choosing not to press further, and instead asked Jarvis.

"Jarvis, what's the situation at Stark Tower right now?"

Jarvis's voice came from the armor's built-in speakers.

"Sir, an abnormal energy fluctuation has been detected on the top floor of the building, but the surveillance camera on the top floor has been destroyed. I cannot confirm what caused the fluctuation, nor can I see what is happening up there."

"Seal off the entrance to the top floor of the building and wait for me to get back," Tony ordered.

"Yes, sir."

The captain holstered the shield back on his arm and turned to walk toward the Quinjet.

"Everyone board, destination: Stark Tower."

"I'm not going." Wanda stood still, her red coat fluttering gently in the forest breeze. "Lin said there's no danger there, Loki's already run away."

When she finished speaking, there was still a slight, undisguised smile on her lips, as if mentioning the name itself was something to laugh about.

"I'm going back." She turned around and walked towards the edge of the dense forest.

"Why is she going back?" Thor asked, holding the hammer, looking bewildered.

Natasha looked away. "I'm going back to see someone." She paused, a slight smile curving her lips.

The captain stood at the gangway, watching Wanda's figure disappear at the edge of the dense forest, and shook his head after a moment.

The Quinjet's engines roared back to life, and the gangway slowly retracted.

The moment Wanda stepped out of the edge of the dense forest, a portal made of starlight suddenly appeared in the air less than three steps in front of her.
